I still using the braking line. Less for a braking line and more for a track reference point that can't be knocked down. >_> People should figure from the lack of times I come through their back window that I can still brake without them. :p

I also use the braking line, but I have less success not breaking people's tail lights.

I was hoping someone would take that. I saw it and would've seriously considered it except it's DLC for me.

how about we ban race transmissions? Yeah, I know, you can't tune gears, but with the sport transmission, you can still tune the final gear and top speed. Why? I think having 4 gears will feel truer to the 70's vintage racing theme we have going. To me, 6 gears in a muscle car just doesn't feel right.

I fucking love that Alfa but it is going to get murdered in every way by the muscle cars.

With 70s muscle cars I always tune for 4 gears with the race transmission anyway. I'm not going to ban the race transmission. If someone wants to be slower because they're shifting every second then more power to them.

Isn't that what we're doing all of this for, for kicks? :)

    I'm a little surprised the '69 Hurst/Old isn't on the list.

So many cars from which to choose. That little Ferrari is so easy to drive I was thinking about sharing it in the club garage for the new guy to try out.

Am I the new guy? I'd love to get in on this next season. Around what time on Thursday's are the races? I've got a lot of catching up to do. And thanks again everybody for all of the advice. You have all been very helpful and welcoming. :)

    Yeah, that's you. :)

Our race races are Thursdays at 9, but we usually get on between 30 to 45 minutes early for a little practice. The Google doc linked in the second comment on this page has the rules, car list, season schedule, etc. Switch between the tabs on the bottom of the doc to find it all.

We also fool around on Tuesdays at 9, and maybe a little earlier too, with a little practice thrown in. I shared the car, but one of the club leaders will have to invite you.

    Please, call me ebo.

Yay! Will I need to pick up any dlc to compete? Also you are playing 4 instead of Horizon correct? And last question tonight I swear, nine o'clock in which timezone? Sorry for all of the questions.

Grab the free cars in each DLC pack. That way you download all the models. Otherwise any DLC cars will appear as a Jetta but not all cars are Jetta sized. That leads to unfortunate incidents. There is no free car for the Porsche pack.

I played for a few hours last night to get ready for this. I tried out all the tracks we will be racing on, and used exclusively American muscle cars. Strangely enough in the career I've been using muscle cars the whole time. They are my favorite! Now I'm stuck on a really curvy map and it is kicking my ass. That also might have something to do with me changing the difficulty around. I'm having a much harder time (with the ai on hard, I can still win on medium), but I'm also having waaaaaaaay more fun. So thanks again for the suggestions everyone. B)

With all this Euro love, I'm sorely tempted to use the Chevelle 454, because it's got the biggest engine, and it'll probably punt the puny euro trash like a soccer ball.

The Alfa Montreal is one of my favorite cars ever, so I'm probably going with that. The 3.0CSL is high up on my list too though. Surprisingly competitive for how little power it makes. I've tested the Merc, 3.0CSL, and Alfa so far... Sad that the Merc is so terrible.

Bast, I dearly love the cars in class 1, but I think for the sake of this series we should just eschew the three class system and go with just the cars in class 2 and 3, otherwise the handling tracks just will be completely unfair, based on my testing so far.

I'm gonna disagree, in pure numbers, the class 1 cars will do great on the handling tracks, but with this band of chucklefucks, those light cars will be a liability. Any advantage will probably be negated with minor damage from 80 tons of american iron.

Oh the Alfa Montreal is an option? Great! I love that car I'll... oh...

I guess I'll be in the Dino. I may throw together a 365 just to check what can fit under the cap. If I can get enough of the adjustables in there it may work.

I figure once 5 is out, I may not be showing up Tuesdays for 4 if we can get enough people on 5 to have some fun. Thursdays will depend entirely on how the 5 club/turnout ends up.

I'm really wishing my 360 was not launch-model and had HDMI so I could just run it pass-through on the One and just swap.

I'm taking the 1969 Chevy Nova, which I picked at random.

With a rudimentary tune I'm doing mid 2:15s on Mugello and hitting ~145 on the main straight.

Wow, I'm at low 2:14, with ~140 on the straights. And I'm calling the AMX. The Merc is over one second off the pace.

Wow, Forza 5 was my one reason for contemplating the XBone. After seeing that car and track list... preorder cancelled. Seriously though, that's maddeningly disappointing. Worse yet is you just know they'll pull a Horizon and start putting out DLCs monthly or even weekly just re-releasing DLC or even on-disk cars from Forza 4.

Oh well, I still have my Forza 4 to keep me company.

They're completely redone. I don't demand Adobe give me CS5 just because I owned CS4. Don't understand why gamers feel ripped off any time anyone creates content for their game that wasn't in the original box. Or apparently new content in new boxes that was vaguely the same shape as content in old boxes but still took a team of artists and modelers and programmers hundreds of hours to remake.

You're well within your right to cancel and it's probably even the smart move, as early adopting is always stupid for electronics. But this is a fairly reasonable number of tracks and cars for a 2 year cycle game on a brand new console. 2 more tracks (3 when nurburgring comes out) than Forza 2 launched with, and art demands are insanely higher now than they were then.

So, I finally took a look at the car list for Fozra 5. Sadly, three of my favorite cars, the Pontiac G8, Mazda Furai and the Tesla Roadster didn't make the cut. Really hope those make a reappearance as DLC or in Forza 6.

Also, kind of surprised the 2014 Corvette Stingray is not in there.

Aye. Don't quite get the original remark - if it was a lurker, I'd expect the previous discussion about this to have been quite visible. And if not, why stop by the thread just to shit on something you've declared you'll no longer be a part of?

I didn't shit on the thread. I've been a MASSIVE Forza fan since the original on Xbox and I'm letdown by the reduction in content. For one thing, the car models in Forza 4 were beyond amazing. I have no doubt they'd look just fine as-is running at 1080p in Forza 5 (with the possible exception of some of the interior modelling which was hit and miss.) The external models were so well done that you really couldn't see polygons, which is fucking incredible for that old hardware.

The reason I haven't really posted before in the Forza threads is they tend to focus on championships and your online racing leagues, but since I don't do any of that I've stayed out - until now when the conversation is turning towards the next Forza looming.

If the new track modelling turns out to be a quantum leap forward from 4 AND they actually release track DLC this time around, I will re-visit it. One of the only things Forza 4 (IMO) lagged behind the GT series in was the track selection, so seeing less now took the wind out of my Forza 5 sails.

Jesus christ. The Forza 5 thread on SA is everyone posting how mad they are at Turn 10 and I'm so disapointed etc. And this thread is the opposite "dont you dare badmouth my precious!".

For what its worth the reports from people who have played the.game that the aliasing is very distracting makes me more aprehensive than the track list.

It's less that than I (and I assume a couple others) aren't quite sure how you can be "mad" or "disappointed" to the level displayed when all they did was didn't live up to someone's own personal expectations. It's also a lot of "Why didn't they just reuse all the models/tracks!" "Well they have addressed why they didn't and it makes quite a bit of sen..." "Oh it's just so they can be evil and make us pay for DLC!!!" "*boggle*". This argument isn't helped when some of the people shouting the loudest were the ones already clearly looking for reasons to hate Turn 10/Forza 5/Xbox One.

As for the aliasing, there are all the gameplay videos to check out. While sure, it's there, it is either better than or at least equal to the level that it's there in Forza 4 from what I can tell, which already doesn't bother me, so YMMV.

I love the Cuda and the Nova but jesus are those things hard to handle compared to the BMW. I can get roughly equivalent lap times but I'm WAY more consistent in the BMW. If more people agree to take div 2 or 3 then I'll join in, but as it stands I don't want to be hot luke warm lapping at the back of the pack for another season. :(

And because I hate you guys I've made a new paint job with a hideous 70s rainbow full of drab colors. :D
