Was Sonoma in Forza 1? I've been playing since two and am pretty sure I've never seen it. If it is a F1 track, it might as well be a debut for how many people will have ever played the original game. :P
Anyway, rejoice for the king returns! :D

    Sonoma is Infineon.

Also Turn10 put up their Gamescom report. Lots of really good pictures, including the 4 newly announced tracks (which completes the track list). Several unconfirmed cars in there too, I assume they'll show up in this week's Garage. They lay out how the League's will work, which is interesting:
    Online Leagues
This week, we’re showing off competitive multiplayer Leagues for the first time at Gamescom. If you love online racing, this new Leagues feature was built for you. Leagues are a brand new multiplayer feature for Forza 6, one that lets players compete in thrilling multiplayer races that are scheduled and based around each player’s skill level and temperament.

The cornerstones of Leagues are its scheduled race lobbies. All League lobbies run on a schedule and will be open in the game during specific times each day. For example, there might be a B-Class League lobby that will be open for four hours per day for a full week; after which, it will be replaced with a new League lobby featuring different cars and/or tracks. While a League’s daily open window may vary from League to League, we are designing these windows to be open to allow the most players within different time zones.

During an open window, players can join a League Lobby and compete against one another in that lobby’s playlist. After each race, players will earn points based on their performance (what position they placed in, as well as the number of higher-skilled players they beat). As long as a League window is open, players can continue to play in that lobby and earn points; these points will accumulate on that League’s leaderboard for the duration of the League. Once a scheduled League has closed down, players will earn credits based on their final position on the League’s overall leaderboard.

Our goal with League racing is to have players always have multiplayer matches that are geared to their skill. To do that, we are organizing players into different skill-based Driver Divisions. All players will begin at the lowest division when they first start playing in Leagues and more skilled players will quickly move up into their appropriate divisions. Each time a player races, we recalculate his or her skill level by comparing how that player finishes among the other players in a race. The more races you win or place highly in, the better the chance you’ll move up to a new League division. Once a League begins, players will remain in that league until the League has completed. When the new set of Leagues is set, each player’s Driver Division will be reviewed and players will potentially be reclassified based on their current skill level. In addition to skill level, League players will be organized by their temperament levels, which will ensure that clean drivers will be paired with other clean drivers, while players who tend to enjoy more contact will be racing with similar style opponents.

Driver Division will also control which League events players have access to. A newer, less skilled driver won’t be able to see or have access to the same League events available to elite-skill players. This allows us to create race events that fit for different players, tailoring the cars and tracks to the most appropriate skill levels.

For Forza Motorsport 6, Online Leagues represent a fantastic opportunity for players to get the best multiplayer racing experience on a consistent basis. In addition to a regular cadence of updated Race Leagues, we’ll also be creating special events that will give players of all skill levels the chance to compete. Whether it’s with one-off series tied to real-world race weekends or invite-only events featuring the best racers in the world, Online Leagues promises to be an incredibly exciting, and always changing, new feature in the game.

They also talk in the link a bit about a very enhanced and expanded Spectator Mode aiming for those Twitch broadcasters.

I assumed COTA, and I had heard the Monza rumors so happy to see those come in as they are great tracks. But also yay Sonoma and Hockenheimring! That's it for the new tracks right? Rio, Brand's Hatch, Watkins Glen, Fern Rock, Daytona, COTA, Monza, Sonoma and Hockenheim. edit boo no more tracks. well maybe i can will suzuka into existence for dlc.

An aside, Sonoma is a NASCAR and Indycar track, but not F1. COTA is F1. Also I have to imagine this means we're getting at least some NASCAR inclusion, since Sonoma, Watkins Glen and Daytona all run races and Sonoma even has the special track variant that cuts out the infield arena.

edit: Mugello has all manner of Ferrari baggage and nobody runs races there anymore so it's a weird thing. Also Sonoma/Infineon is great!

I enjoyed Infineon/Sonoma. I always found it to be a track that felt really good once you figured out how to take its more difficult turns, really felt like an accomplishment to ace a lap on it. Of course, I also remember that those of us that raced together in 4, as a group, were terrible at it. I think we've had more clean, incident free races on Long Beach at this point than we did on Infineon. So many of those corners were so easy to accidentally dive in and cut someone off through just in the different ways you could take them. I'm very interested in seeing if/how the feel changes from 4 since it's been rebuilt and possibly rescanned for 6.

I would say it's a pretty sure thing that an Asian track of some kind would be a pretty obvious DLC target, since it's the only region missing.

I got a bit curious about Canadian tracks, mostly because Villeneuve is easily our most famous, but the layout isn't that interesting.
Stumbled upon Mont-Tremblant, which looked pretty cool and also had a decent array of loops. Looked up a drive-around video on youtube, and now I really wish we had this track (which will never happen because it's not world-famous, but I'm sure you can make this argument about a bunch of more famous tracks around the world).

    Anywho, for anyone curious:

And, then again, we managed to muss up the track on some of the less difficult turns as well. I still have nightmares about the hairpin and you guys.

That's every hairpin. The one on Hock was also bad.

Looking at the pictures that came out today, it's really weird seeing the 787b in not-green-and-orange as it's default paint.

that's an interesting track. it kinda looks like someone glued road atlanta and fern rock together.

though, they'd totally add Circuit Gilles Villeneuve if they were to add a canadian track because you're right about the famousness.

Gah, the VW Bus? I think that's the biggest draw for me to try and convince the misses to buy a one for forza 6. Well, that and racing with you guys again. Damnit microsoft, let Turn 10 take Forza multiplatform and put out a PC version that cross communicates with the One. I'd even pay for Live access.

Although, my work schedule still hasn't changed so it's not like I'd ever get to race with you guys anyway. If I get the job I'm applying for though, which would start September of 2016 and have a significant pay increase with different hours (11pm to 7am instead of my current 4pm to midnight) though.... I may be back then.

I pretty much race GT3 in Project Cars exclusively at this point, and they are just a blast with the perfect combination of ease to drive but difficult to master.

You guys should honestly look to these for the first SBC of F6. Keep em stock, but of course fine tune the setup.

amusingly, i think everyone who played with a wheel bailed out in the 360->xb1 transition, so one of them would have to float back into this thread.

also, i probably am going to miss tonight because of irl birthday junk, which is sad because i wanted to see the nightmare that is my one-77 on spa.

Yes, yes, it's on the list. I'm waiting for closer to FM6 launch to put up a new sign up for a new Drivers List, but here is the original FM5 List.

Hey now, I bailed long before then because of a job. If I had a schedule that didn't have me working every Tuesday and Thursday evening I'd probably would have gotten a One, but probably not a wheel until this year anyway.

Big reason I'm getting the Logitech G920 is because it's both PC and One compatible which will help me out if I do make the push for a One to rejoin you guys.

A couple off-screen videos of a bit of Dan's GAMESCOM presentation. The first video shows one of the FM6 Homespaces. Yes, they're changeable again, the E3 Garage and now this Rio balcony are both in. The second one shows a bit of driving (not racing, really, I think he has auto-throttle and braking on so he can talk and not look at the screen) on a rainy Nurburgring, mostly GP, it cuts shortly after leaving onto the full track. The AI Drivatars do not appear, at least at whatever level he has them set to, to be able to handle the puddles yet, which is entertaining.

So I just watched the video I linked again (here's a Youtube version:)
    https://youtu.be/7UxIllmFP6U

And that's a different GP layout than we got in FM5. Namely that's the one that cuts the Arena section. So it looks like we're getting more GP ribbons than what we had in 5. The video still shows the F1 Chicane (I think), but it looks like the old one is modeled when they go past so maaaaaybe?

    Xbox Live, Steam, PSN: Eclibull
  • Knight_Knight_ Dead Dead Dead Registered User regular
Old one is modeled in the current version too, theres just a tire barrier in front of it forcing you down the f1 chicane.

Most of the videos for FM6 coming from GAMESCOM are just the same as the E3 stuff, but Gamersyde did put up some videos of the demo tracks run in different cars than the demo in hot laps. Namely Rio in a Formula Ford, Brands Hatch in the Volvo Polestar and Sebring in the Z4 GTE. The driver in those videos is also pretty good (if slow, but they have all the assists off). Here's the youtube of the Z4 on Sebring at night:
    https://youtu.be/s4F5GmMIbIU
A few things I noticed were that the headlights are actually GT-style-yellow, 3rd person at night looks hard and, just in general, the lack of visibility when you're alone on a dark track is terrifying, especially if you turn off all of the driving lines.

EDIT: Another video, a longer version (21 minutes) of the previously linked versions of Dan's presentation. Shows menus (all the menus, some that are not discussed that are interesting, like a "Prize Spinner" on the main menu) and a lot of clearer info on Career, Multiplayer. He also spends a very limited amount of time speaking about tires, I assume they're very proud of him.

The biggest thing, and likely the reason it was pulled, was there are 3 unannounced cars in there. Namely:
2014 BAC Mono (So the Horizon 2 rumors were off by a game)
    2015 Lotus E23 (2015 F1 Car)
2015 Ford #17 XBox Racing Ford Falcon FG X (V8 Supercar)
