The link (http://t.co/RdvWuYhwAp) will actually get me to the Ticket Selection Page, but the Checkout Page is still clocking...and clocking...and clocking. I've already exhausted my window of time to purchase the ticket TWICE. This sucks.
Looks like I'll have to resort to fleaBay this year.
Well, had to get 5 single day sets thanks to all the server errors and stuff. If i lost them cause i was too slow i wouldnt care as much but these servers are ridiculous. I love an extra 50 per person because the servers cant handle the load.
Oh well i have my badges and only 1 of the 2 needed hotel rooms but at least i can say im going to pax. That was still a painful 1.5 hours
Scalpers are a problem. This person has 10+ tickets and is offering them at 500 a pop... these people are fucking disgusting and I'm disgusted at the way PAX is handling this.
3 day NYCC tickets lasted almost over a week. PAX 3 days don't even make it through the Fog of War.
They clearly need to upgrade to a bigger venue. No event should ever sell out in minutes. This sucks.
BCEC is basically the biggest indoors conference center in North America. I keep saying to friends they could use the CNE grounds in Toronto, but it's outdoors, so they figure everything will just blow up when it rains. LOL. However, the CNE does handle many more than 70,000.
WOW So somebody just put up 10 3-days on e-bay what scum
I understand there is a profit to be made, but I don't see how you can morally buy 10 tickets knowing you are taking away peoples chances of going. It sucks that people do that.
Not a record, but close. 43 minutes from sale to gone.
That's how long it took to sell-out. If you weren't waiting in the queue by 12:15p EST then you were out of luck. I got kicked out around 12:45p when they sold out.
Yeah, you had literally 3-4 minutes to get into the queue, and this was without the main site working. I know that they claim scalpers aren't a real problem, but the jump is absolutely massive from last year. Is the difference entirely attributable to people panicking and piling in immediately?

PAX: Refund ALL ticket sales and re-open them, limiting 3-days to 5 per person.
There already is a 5 per person limit as it states on the site. Any orders above that will be cancelled.
I really love trying to play the game properly and getting hosed anyway. Follow the forums, keep up on the site, be ready for the announced launch window... and then have the ACTUAL registration site given out over another venue. Just... freaking... brilliant.

I'm pretty sure 5 per person was already the limit. Doesn't stop 2 people from buying 5 each and having one of them list 10 on Ebay, though. Nothing ever would.
3 day tickets are already sold out? This is absolutely disgusting.. PA clearly doesn't give a shit about the people attending... there should be a limit of how many 3 day passes someone can buy.. they're already on Ebay for $500...

People will still find a way around this.
Yes, but that's no reason to take tickets away from the people who didn't game the system.
PAX East Attendee. Professional Tabletop Gamer. Donut Enthusiast.
It's not that it's legitimately selling out.. it's that some assholes are buying up all the 3 day passes and selling them on ebay.
There are well over 100,000 people trying to go to an event that can hold 70,000. Of course it's going to sell out. Khoo has said in the past that scalpers are a minor issue and even then they're fighting them.
Why post the link on twitter before available thru website? That was a joke! I was hitting refresh on website non stop waiting for them to be available. I have been checking the website for 2 weeks for this. I am following them on twitter but I was not expecting them to post a link for tix before they were available on their own damn website! CMON PAX FIX THIS!
I was able to get the individual day passes cause the three day apparently sold out while I was in queue. I'm very upset about that but I'm more upset about the scalpers. Someone is selling three day passes on eBay!!! It was not a good idea to give advice notice. Last year seemed to work much smoother. I hope this is reconsidered next year.
I'm not exactly complaining too hard because I managed to get a hotel and a 3-day pass, but I'm joining the choir of people who think that this setup was pretty unfair. And I also agree that it was ironically made far less fair by pre-announcing the launch on Twitter, which I assume was done in an effort to make it more fair.
I mean, the problem last year (and in previous years) was that people who frequented the boards and Twitter essentially got first pick of the hotels and people who were out of the loop regarding Twitter or who were unexpectedly busy during the launch day couldn't get a 3-day pass.
So they decided to pre-announce the launch date so that people could clear their schedules or whatever and make it more fair.
Except that by doing that, they basically got everybody laying in wait for the go-live. The result was that when OnPeak inevitably had some glitch that allowed mobile users through early, people who frequented the boards and had mobile devices were pretty much the only ones to get access, and even worse, most of the larger-capacity rooms for Thursday at the Westin had already been taken even before then (I assume they were claimed by Exhibitors and Enforcers earlier in the day or perhaps through some other exploit). Then when the registration went live, only people who frequented the boards and Twitter were able to get 3-day passes and those who didn't exploit the mobile glitch for hotels got hit with server issues. So even some of the people who were ready and waiting were still screwed out of it.
So by pre-announcing the launch date and time to make it more fair, they actually just made it next to impossible to get a good hotel room, more difficult to get ANY hotel room, and even harder to get a 3-day pass.
I know making the launch a "surprise" may not exactly be "fair", but at least last year the websites didn't crash constantly and 3-day passes took most of the day to sell out.
I'm glad I managed to be privileged enough to get a Westin room and a 3-day pass, because otherwise I'd probably be pretty damn upset.
Most likely 5 per account not 5 per IP or MAC address. It's not really that hard to brute force 5 machine or 5 browser windows into the queue with these requests and put the charges through to unique accounts.
Tickets should have the purchasers name and that person is required to show an ID to use them for his party. Buy 5, get all 5 together and go in with that person.
2) You can buy badges right at the convention for somewhere between face value and face value + $10
Right? Right?
This is not true please do not bank on this. They will not have passes at the door, unless you are referring to purchasing badges from scalpers which are almost certainly fakes, in which case shame on you
"Almost certainly", eh? I've been to a dozen PAX's, and I've NEVER seen someone selling a fake badge. Furthermore, the Enforcers will validate a badge right there for you so you know you won't get a fake. Way to talk like you have any idea what you're saying without actually having the knowledge.
Dude...it happens for EVERY live event. You're not looking then.
They clearly need to upgrade to a bigger venue. No event should ever sell out in minutes. This sucks.

BCEC isn't even close to the largest indoor conference center in North America.
Las Vegas, New Orleans, Chicago and several others are all substantially larger in both exhibition floor and meeting space square footage.

You need roommates? LOL I had the Westin room booked and it error'ed out on my credit card processing. Grrrr.
Anyone been able to get on OnPeak in the last 5 mins? We've been trying desperately (my friend and I) since sales went live. Got our passes no problem, but so far no where to sleep
Patiently waiting in line to pick up my badge, I was hoping I get paid so I can buy 2 sets of Fri-Sun passes for myself and a friend of mine flying in but I am praying I can still get the single day passes on my Pay Day Friday.
Hotel wise I am not worried, I've already reserved a hotel room back in May.
I just hope OnPeak allows me to continue from where I left off in the hotel booking process (one click from finishing) when their servers come back up. Announcing the date/time ahead of time did them no favors. Our group had no issues with OnPeak in our prior years, but they just couldn't handle the advanced notice for East '14 sales.
Been in queue for over an hour, 3 days were sold old before they went on sale. As soon as site came live I clicked it and immediate was brought to sold out page.
Can't get past queue.
Got the BYOC tickets no issue, but looks like I may not get tickets to use BYOC

Don't worry everyone! There are tons of badges available for the small price of $500 on ebay! What a steal! And so totally fair...
Why would anyone in their right mind pay $500 for a 3 day pass when you can get 3 single days for $120 directly from the source? Makes no sense to me....
No matter what PA does, there are going to be people or are unhappy if not completely pissed off with the way the registration was handled since they couldn't get tickets. They can't please everybody.
I'm thankful I was able to get rooms at the seaport again this year, though it was a lesson in patience with the CTRL-F5 keys. 3 1-day passes were acquired for myself and a friend, but another friend is still trying. If they can get theirs, then despite all the madness, I'll be content knowing everyone got what they needed.

Actually it's 5 per household. Some people will get through it like you just said and order more, and then PA will go through and free up those tickets later, just like they did for Prime.

Are you talking about this eBay seller:

Yeah, profiting 550% per ticket on the day the tickets are being sold is ludicrous!!! I'm going to have to agree with your assessment.
