Yeah it's really frustrating seeing this thread bumped by that quote thing, when the google docs is so much easier and better to use! It would be great if it could be in the OP and the thread title pointed people to it.
Met up with a buddy yesterday for some beers during football, he's a casual gamer but told me he has the PS4 preordered at Best Buy but they called him and told him he likely wouldn't get one now on launch due to demand. Like, he's had it paid off in full and they won't have one for him on launch, I dunno how a place like Best Buy doesn't have this shit figured out.
His son was with us who's 7 and was like "I WANT A WIIU!" to which I responded, "Oh, so YOU'RE the guy who wants one of those?", his dad just said "yeah we're not doing that, we're getting the PS4"

Even Amazon has/had that problem. You could preorder consoles but only launch editions (the preorders done within around a day of announcement) were guaranteed to ship before they had to caveat all the other preorders. I have a feeling no one knew how much stock they were getting until quite late. But it doubly sucks for the Best Buy guy, since he's already given them money. That should be a lock.

I've stopped in 4 or 5 different gamestops several times over the last few weeks and every employee has been very consistent with their message. They all say that gamestop has known from the get go exactly how many units they are getting and if you have a preorder, you are guaranteed a system on launch day. I've had so many bad experiences with system launches at gamestop in the past it's hard for me to believe it, but I will say they certainly sound like they have their act together this go around.

Well yeah, the cancellation is the threat, the ideal outcome is "oh, sir, actually, we did find a PS4 for you". That just screws someone else, so Best Buy is still shitty, but I'd assume they want to minimize outrage. But I'd still cancel, while raising hell, if it looks like there's actually nothing to gain and a chance you can get it elsewhere soon.

So the Dark Souls rumor is... that it's coming to Vita? Am I understanding that correctly, or am I projecting?
Projecting. The rumour is that Miyazaki (director of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls) is working on Demon's Souls 2 for PS4. If you don't know the difference, they're two different series. Demon's Souls is a Sony owned franchise, Dark Souls is Namco owned (though From Software publish it in Japan).
There may be some PS4/Vita games announced but I wouldn't expect Vita specific announcements, as it's a PS4 specific show.
Although gameplay wise, Dark Souls basically already IS Demon Souls II.
Either way an XXXX Souls 2 sounds like great news. Those are terrific games.
It would be very weird, IMO, to keep Demon's Souls a separate series. They're too similar, and continuing to iterate on both would be redundant. I'd be much more interested in something that took the core concepts of the Dark/Demon's Souls games and went another direction (since Dark Souls 2 is already a thing).
Maybe it could be with a different visual aesthetic, maybe even completely different gameplay that still focused on fair, but challenging, and player agency in terms of figuring out "how shit works".

So I have to admit, one of the things I am looking forward to as a Xboxer jumping ship is access to some of the Sony exclusives. Not to say I have never owned a PlayStation before, but I have never had a chance to play some of the iconic games that are associated with it.
I will leave this list here and turn and hang my head in shame. Games I have yet to play include:

NFS would make a great third game to get from Target's sale. I'm still debating whether I want to try my luck as the local store or make use of $85 in Amazon points I have to get a few games.
I already pre-ordered Killzone digitally. I'm thinking of doing the buy 2g1 deal at target, but I'm not sure what to get. I'm considering doing Asscreed 4, CoD4, Knack or Need for Speed. What are people's thoughts on these launch titles?
AssCreed 4: I've usually gotten bored of the previous games before I felt I got my money's worth, however the pirate angle in intriguing.
CoD4: I really liked MW2 but haven't played one since. I'm in mood to play it again, however I'm a bit concerned about all of the DLC they drop for this game. I'm worried if I don't buy it the online community will suck. Also I'm getting Killzone so I don't know if I need another FPS especially if the Killzone Online is good. (I loved Killzone 2 online, I was not a fan of Killzone 3. I hated the unlocks)
Knack: I like that is this is different and a genre we don't seem much anymore. However none of the videos I have seen scream must have.
Need for Speed: I don't know much about this, and I don't like most racing games. However I do like Wipeout and did enjoy Paradise City (ps3) and NFS:MW (vita) so if this is similar I'm in.
