I am legit way more excited about the ease of live streaming than I EVER thought I would be. As a PC gamer I've never once streamed anything, and only watched live streams once or twice, but I'm really into the idea of how dead simple it is on the PS4.
I forget, is the One going to be offering a similar ability to live stream?
i've been saying this for a while now, that once people get some hands on time with the next-gen's newer features they'll find they like/use them a lot more than expected. streaming and uploading clips is a great example since it'll be something both console will be able to do and i can only imagine the feature improving as time goes by.
I want to upload clips, but not until youtube is available, because I'm not uploading it to Facebook!
Is Facebook the only place you can upload replays?
I really am wondering about the number of things you can do with a replay versus a live stream.

Hdmi cec works great for my harmony to control the PS4.
Until you load up netflix, and then nothing controls the system except for a DS4. Including the companion app sony made!
Seems like a netflix app problem? Fix this immediately!
I'm wondering if you're downloading some sort of compressed version of games that extracts when it's all on the PS4
Because when I downloaded Assassin's Creed IV last night, when I looked at my download list, it downloaded an installer that was basically an instantaneous download, the Aveline DLC, which was like 600 megs or so I think, and the game itself, but that only appeared to be about 5 gigs. I was confused because it was listed as 22 gigs on the PS Store
But when I checked the info on the file size just now, it's taking up 22 gigs of space
That little stand that the camera comes with is pretty rad. It latched on to my monitor perfectly. And on a related note, the gamestop dude said that 95% of all the PS4 buyers since last night have also picked up the camera. That's a crazy high attach rate.
Now I'm curious on what the final camera attach rate is going to be for PS4 owners. Because if Sony somehow ends up with deep camera penetration despite it not being a pack-in, both earning the goodwill of gamers and making it comparably common to the Kinect, that would be pretty genius.
BTW, I typed out "deep camera penetration," though "hell I better delete that," then though "no...no it stays."

I'm the complete opposite. I really don't understand the whole live streaming craze. Wasted far too many hours watching friends play single player games at their houses as a kid. I'm have no desire to use up what little free time I have now to watch someone play a game when I could be using that same time to play a game.

Because a lot of people are blessed with the ability to access the internet when they are unable to access their game console and like watching streams when they do. Like on a lunch break for example.

its also good for checking out games you don't have, though no substitute for hands-on impressions obviously. and watching someone play a game you suck at with expert skill can be a wonder. there's a reason why fighting game tournaments are so popular.

Hey, don't boo this! The fact that you can control and navigate the PS4 AT ALL via the cec stuff means that there is some way to use a remote control. That's fucking great, considering there was as far as I knew no way to use any remotes whatsoever.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
Okay, stream of conscious thoughts here for initial impressions.
Look phenomenal. Understated, but unique enough that it draws the eye. Not a fan of the USB ports being in the middle of the machine, though. Having the controller cable plugged in there just looks odd.
Hard drive swap, piece of cake. Had more issues finding the power connector on the back of the unit than I did swapping the 500gb drive for a 1.5tb drive.
Install new firmware, simple as anything. Hold power button for about 10 seconds to boot into safe mode when turning the system on and then choosing install firmware. Took maybe 5 to 10 minutes total.
Signing into PSN: The worst part of the experience so far. Just as I was getting PSN setup, they took the whole network down before I could finish agreeing to things and log in. Its leaving me rather frustrated because I kind of don't want to play my games since I don't know if they'll be tied to my account once I can log in. They could have at least left the authenticate servers up so people could log into their accounts.
Guess I'll go make dinner and hope Sony gets the PSN stuff straightened out by the time I'm done.

I stand by my boo
We knew from specs that it supported cec, but the fact that it doesn't work for the one thing I want to use a remote FOR, means they've managed to make that feature a lot less useful for me!
In fairness, it feels like a limitation of the Netflix app, instead of the ps4 itself. They need to patch that ASAP!
Just a heads up for people like myself who preordered one console and not the other; I called my local GameStop and the knowledgable clerk stated that on Sunday at noon EDT, unclaimed preorders are officially up for grabs. In fact, he implied that they were under orders to not have any left come Monday.
PS4 installed and working. Now, trying to download the patch. Over wi-fi.
...whee....
If the PS4 is anything like the PS3, I really really recommend getting a wired connection instead. PS3's wi-fi download speeds were atrociously bad. Wound up running a cable up the wall, across the ceiling, down the wall, along the floor, down through the air return to the basement, then cut a hole in the basement duct to let the wire out, then across the basement, into my router.
Welp. It looks like i got a bricked ps4. Got the pulsing blue light and now i dont even get a blue light. I was so looking forward to this day and now just ugh. Sucks cause this is my first day one console ever. I normally wait a year or two. I am cursed i guess

Maybe same. PS4 froze on me while Warframe was in the background and I was on the XMB. Had to do a hard reset. I get the blue light (because the PS4 wants to turn on automatically when you plug it in), but no signal.
So, on a scale of "Not bloody likely" to 'LOLOLOL", what are the chances of me walking into a store this afternoon and finding a PS4?
Pretty sure I know the answer, but I feel like I'll be depressed if I actually start trying to find out on my own.
@big dookie Just a lonely observation: during my lunch break I accompanied my boss by CostCo on an errand. They had a pallet of PS4's sitting by the checkout stands, I counted roughly 30 of them. Now, it wasn't the base $400 one. It was a $480 bundle of some sort; I think it had a second controller, but perhaps a pack-in game.
Need an answer in like seconds so I can interrupt my brother.
I have a friend with CoD ps3. my brother has a ps4. how can I get the $10 deal for my brother? Is that possible? Tell my friend "you're not getting a ps4 mind if I get the $10 deal from you?"

Yea. . .PSN is getting hammered. Also, is there no way to save your photos locally? Like I want to put some photos on a USB stick.
I too would love to know this - the photos upload (to Twitter, at least) at a resolution of 1024 x 576, and I'd really like direct-feed quality screens for bloggy purposes.

I got mine at work at 11:30. Plugged it in at noon, got 1.50 from wifi (yay gigabit internet), updated and installed BF4, redeemed codes, and got all the free PSN stuff (BTW, there's a PSN Warframe offer). Unplugged it a bit later and put it back in box for transport to my GF's place later tonight.
One thing I noticed as I was unplugging it was the rear/bottom of the PS4 was quite hot. Makes me worry about future overheating problems.
So I've got a free download code for the full version of FIFA 14 PS4 (NA version) that I'm not particularly interested in. Open to trade offers for other PS4 codes or PSN codes.

For those of you using twitch, anyone having an issue where it will lose connection after about 90 seconds? I turned down my stream quality, but I can't get it to stay solid.

Glad I'm not the only person having issues signing onto the PSN. Damn is this controller comfortable, though.
I had to laugh because we also have a cat that has caused me to go "brb, cat just threw up."

Just had a party chat with my friends while one was playing Killzone, one AC4 and I was dicking around on the UI
I know this is something 360 has been able to do for a while but it was still neat

Once people get on, I think it will improve. It might take awhile to get into though.
