3U had great voice chat built into the game via the mic on the Wii U pad. Decent range too, just place the mic next to you, and relative background noise, was just like holding onto it. Bummer we're taking a step back in that department and was one of the reasons I really wanted 4U to be a Wii U and 3DS release like 3U was.

But then I couldn't play multi so blagh to that

A lot of Gore Magala's ground attacks remind me of Kushala with its rushing strikes and projectiles. Once it goes into its true rage mode and the horns come out, it gets a lot of rushdown similar to Tigrex. Overall, it's a unique monster and I'd like to see more in the future that have considerably different attack patterns when they get mad.

Yeah, Magala is basically harmless when in normal state, but when it's pissed off it gets really rather dangerous, I find.

    Steam ID: Right here.

3DS could do voice chat to, but they aren't for some reason. I guess they want to avoid people using the built in 3DS mic because it's terrible but the 3DS does support an external mic.

Don't suppose anyone could think of a good (sub $100) headset that I could invest in for hunting? Probably would be looking for something that would work with a Macbook or Android phone (not sure what I'd be using). I've tried some googling and there is a ton of stuff and most people are talking about sound quality, I would think I should be more concerned about the quality of the mic.

It'd be nice if 4U had a more robust way to communicate. I'd even be fine with taping things in with the stylus.

At least for Android, I just use one of the LG HBS-730. The mic quality seems decent from what my GF says, and it's so nice to not have to deal with wires. I know it can pair with Macbooks for audio but never tried the mic with it there.

Those look pretty decent. Should I be worried that they might pick up the audio from the game and annoy people?

No reason you shouldn't be able to play multi. 3G and 3U never had online, it was all local until the Wii U release added the program to finagle online with a 3DS and Wii U. 4 and 4G/4U had online from the start, meaning a release like that should have online for both versions even if there isn't cross console play for online, only local. Which would be dumb, but Nintendo.

So the 3DS mic is every bit as good as the DS mic was, blow into it to object in Phoenix Wright and that's about it.

Hm. I thought maybe I would be kind of okay with the bow this time around, after killing Tetsucabra with over 16:00 left on the clock in only two tries...but then I tried Gore Magala and had only 7:00 left, which is awful. It felt like a decent run at the time, too. I timed my sleep shots so that it fell asleep like five seconds after it enraged, and then I blew it back to normal mode instantly with bombs. But with no Power Coatings left, the rest of the fight took forever after that. It even woke up and enraged again after it was asleep in its den at the end.

There were only two sets that were female only in 3U. Campanile and Sailor. Both were a ton of work to make and only the latter was anything special (in that it has nice support skills... that you can just make the guild armor for anyways)

It's awesome in Animal Crossing New Leaf when you use the megaphone to find someone in town. But I think that's the high-water mark for it, yeah.

I'm sort of glad there's no voice chat to be honest. For it to be even half way decent people'd have to have an external mic and there's probably no way to force an external so pugging would just be an experience in frustration.

    "Snufle muph *pop* *pop* jarughhhhh"

"Uh, sure." *Turns off the voice chat in the menu*

Guys, theres no reason to bother with that list honestly. Monster Hunter has a very handy feature that lets you add friends form within the game immidiately! Much less of a hassle! (I mean, probably a good prepraration to add people, just saying its not mandatory for a change!)

It also has a cool feature where you can password protect a room but allow friends to join without the password, which is awesome.

I will not be carrying over the MH3U charm table fixing info into the next post because it's no longer needed for MH4U.

I will also be killing the WiiU NNID information because it's really old and will be replacing it with it's own spreadsheet for people to update if they're only on the WiiU MH3U.

They don't get removed automatically but I think it makes them look like they are still needing to send you a request. I just cleaned my list a couple of days ago and removed a lot of people who looked like that, that didn't look like that before.

It's also good for Nintendogs, if you're into that sort of thing.

Heroes of Ruin is a Diablo-like game that used the mic for full online voice chat all the time while playing. The game was kind of mediocre, though. I enjoyed it but it's probably not for everyone.

"Apex" has the wrong connotation. If they were just going for a dictionary-thing, "top" would be fine, but connotations? This isn't any much like apex-predators.

Really since it's just a monster who overcame the virus it should be more like "Immune" but I suppose that doesn't hold the same type of fear that they were going for.

If the virus is now Frenzy something like Berserk would work better than Apex wouldn't it?

Aren't a few of them herbivores? Granted that the foodchain actually loops around, but then a herbivore is still no closer to the top of it than a carrot is.

Not sure what are good words for "overcame bullshit and became a badass". "Hardened"?

  • SeidkonaSeidkona Had an upgrade Registered User regular
Hardened is good, what about Awakened?

I've agreed with every other localization choice but this one is just weird and I'll have to get used to it.
