Columbia University incident[edit]
On October 4, 2006, approximately forty students and demonstrators stormed the stage of Alfred Lerner Hall during a Minuteman presentation at Columbia University in New York City, where Board Members Marvin Stewart and Gilchrist had been invited to speak. The student protesters rushed onto the stage with a yellow banner toward Stewart and disrupted the presentation by exciting the crowd, who cheered the protesters on and heckled the speaker.[3] The protesters then gathered outside the Columbia University gates and continued chanting. The protest was quickly broken up by security workers. The event spawned a public discussion at Columbia over freedom of speech and transparency regarding the process through which controversial speakers are invited to speak.[4] Columbia University president Lee Bollinger stated in a campus-wide email that "No one ... shall have the right or the power to use the cover of protest to silence speakers".[5] The event was monitored by several media organizations. Neil Cavuto of Fox News interviewed Stewart, a black American, to announce a "Hate Crime" lawsuit against Columbia University for alleged racial insults that Stewart endured during his 55‑minute speech.[citation needed] Though no racial epithets can be heard in the video footage of the event, protesters can audibly be heard calling the speakers "racists", "murderers", and, later, chanting "racists, fascists go away!"
dumb dumb lol
So, should we be "teaching the controversy"? How would you feel if a college biology department allowed an intelligent design expert speak?
I expect the students in a college biology department to be able to scrutinize those morons effectively during a Q&A
I realize that I expect too much
Even if they do, the fact that you are giving them the time is legitimization of their position.
There's a reason that courts refuse to hear tax protester arguments, and will find you in contempt if you try one.
No it doesn't.
Case in point: I'm reading your posts but that doesn't make them any less dumb.
There's exactly enough plausbility to it that people don't outright dismiss it, but it has all the hallmarks of one of those sad cases where a researcher in some field goes slowly insane.
He does kind of come off like those people that clean their hands with dettol hundreds of times a day.
now I want to see a movie about this
where he thinks he's found a new computer virus and it's weird but somewhat plausible and then more and more ridiculous things happen and it just turns out he's been going crazy
The fact that one of his primary defenders is Alex "MIT shouldn't have worn that short skirt" Stamos makes me give credence to this.
I had an olde moment a couple of nights ago. Was playing LoL over Skype with a friend of my wife's. This friend and her brother kept saying "PUSH IT!" So I, of course, began singing Salt-N-Pepa's wonderful song by the same name. They had no clue what I was singing or who Salt-N-Pepa were.
I guess I forgot they are both early 20s college students.
So.. olde. (But not as olde as spool)
That's no excuse, I was listening to Shoop a couple days ago!
We are not early 20s college students, Sloth.

there are very sound practical reasons for that owing to the nature of the court system and the fact that that's almost all they'd be hearing if it were allowed
this is a venue where the person is invited to speak and booing them offstage is the waste of time and energy
Also, yesssssssssssssssssssssssss. Nexus 5 released. New phone get.
My Galaxy Note is showing its age. It'll be sad to lose the 0.3" on the screen, though I couldn't take the 0.5" increase to move to the Note 3 (or 4 next year)

There was a good deal of opposition to Kelly speaking in the first place.

I'm calling it right now: the guy has a coworker who's just fucking with him.
all the components of it are things that can and have happened (not sure about the high frequency part, but the low level access and the usb based infection etc) it's just that getting all these things to work across multiple hardware and OS installations is.. less plausible and goddamn impressive if it's real

But i fear i may become heartbroken if she is in a relationship.
She never talked about her boyfriend, but she seems to be of the shy type, so... i dunno.
This is all new to me. It's so weird having butterflies in my stomach just thinking about her.

be sure to wear a hoodie so that she doesn't recognize you
also bring a knife and some pepper spray and zip ties just in case someone attacks her and you need to rush to her aid
