[Nintendo 3DS] THIS THREAD IS DEAD! POST IN THE NEW ONE!

Welcome to the Nintendo 3DS thread!
MCJjd.jpg

This is the thread for general 3DS discussion. To keep the conversation from getting too busy, try to look for other threads before posting about something in here. For example, the eShop Thread is a good place to talk about Nintendo digital store. Big game releases like Mario Kart or Zelda also tend to have their own threads. There's no hard rule against discussing those games in here, but this is a nice place to talk about smaller titles that would be unable to sustain their own threads, and obviously those larger games can easily crowd everyone else out. Finally, don't be discouraged from making game-specific threads if you feel it warrants attention. This is sort of a catch-all thread.

Free games via Club Nintendo:

Nintendo is now allowing players to buy download games for their Wii, DSi, and 3DS via the Club Nintendo website. All first party games, and some third party titles, offer codes that you can enter on the official Nintendo website. Fill out a survey and earn coins (and an additional follow-up survey for extra coins). The coins can buy a variety of posters, cases, and various neat stuff. But the games are where it's at. Every month, Nintendo is offering up four games to download.

Featured Applications:

Nintendo Video: A free download app that randomly adds short 3D movies to watch. Blue Man Group, College Humor, and Dreamworks have all contributed.
Netflix: Link your account to your 3DS to watch (2d) movies on the small screen.
Hulu Plus: Just like Netflix, link your account to watch TV shows on the go.
3D movie recording: Record up to 10 minutes of 3D footage and upload it to youtube.
Game demos: Download demos of upcoming 3DS releases.
System Transfer: Transfer information from an existing DS, DSi, or 3DS to a 3DS. Great for when the inevitable redesign hits the scene.
A full list of additional built-in software can be found on Nintendo's 3DS site.

Other final things to do/know as a 3DS owner:

Sir Ultimos has created a friend code matching system for us to easily connect with each other. Check it out: Sir Ultimos web site and friend code matcher.

I think we can all agree that Swapnote wasn't killed off because of wang pics, but rather because my Swapnote RPG game was taking the world by storm!!

How is the level design in 3DS Lost World?

The Wii U Version is fun, but I've seen footage of the 3DS boss fights, and now am certain that I also need that version.

I'm enjoying the 3DS version of Sonic Lost World. It's obviously smaller scale and some parts can be annoying (specifically anything wisp related and the stupid motion controlled special stages) but I'm having fun.

Well the first level is fun. I was letting someone try it and warned them to skip the first level, which they ignored, they played it and started to enjoy the game. I told them to try a later stage, which they finally did and I could literally watch the joy drop from their face in a matter seconds. It was remarkable.

So I'm debating trying to sell my black/blue XL and get a Zelda bundle. What is the possible value I can get for that? Best Buy will give me 80, Gamestop 75. On Ebay and Craiglist I'm seeing ~150. But then I see like, this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B008GEH9HO/ref=nosim/cheapassgam08-20 for 170 so I can't imagine my used one can actually fetch 150, can it? Plus i'd want to wait till the 22nd to get my data transferred to actually sell it.

Because getting 80 for it and having to pay 140 for a new DS/game is outta my range, I think. But paying 70 for a new DS and game? Could do that.

So I don't really get which parts of Lost World 3D are supposed to be poorly designed? I looked at some footage of it and the levels I saw (from the Desert and Forest zones) looked fine.

Maybe it's something that look fine, but plays less smoothly than it looks?

I wouldn't say poorly designed, but there are some parts that I don't really enjoy. There are some levels that require wisps in order to complete, but they control pretty badly and I'd rather just use Sonic himself. Still like the game, I'm only on World 3 though.

43+ Special Notes were sent out from Nintendo to customers. Some to everyone, some to those who purchased specific games, some to different regions.

71 Additional stationery were released for a total of 111 different stationery. This doesn't account for regional/language differences (Crashmo in US, Fallblox in EU) which could account for around 10+ additional variations.

New Super Mario Bros 2 and Denpa Men 2 tied for the most stationery for a single game with 4 different types.

Does this mean we may not get Flipnote? Or does that operate on a different channel/method entirely?

Flipnote already has its own site, mods, and TOS so to keep the fun wangs out.

...well. I finally filled out all the surveys and codes that I've neglected for four or five years. Now I'm gold. ._.

I see that I can buy the original Legend of Zelda, which is nice, but considering I still have three or four Zelda titles to finish, I'm not sure that adding the original to the backlog is an efficient use of coins. :/

Thus, the others all die before tuxkamen dies to the vote. Hence, tuxkamen survives, village victory.

For those who maybe don't want to deal with Best Buy or something, looks like Amazon price matched the sale of Mario and Luigi Dream Team at $25.

Sticker Star is $20 though, so not as good of a deal.

    Sticker Star is $8, actually.

Not on Amazon. You can still get it for $8 at Best Buy though.

Ah, I glazed over the "Amazon" part of your post. Sorry.

I feel sad for Nikki. I hope she can find a home in some other piece of Nintendo software.

I wouldn't be surprised if she got a trophy or sticker or something.
