I cant get bravely default to download. Download now only works for so long, and download later doesnt work at all as usual.
Bleargh!
Try this. Download later. Return to home screen and close the shop. Press power once to where it talks about streetpass. Close lid, place near router. Check it later on.
It is a shame I can't use the 3d on my 3ds (as I think it's broken on mine as I can no longer find a spot where the image isn't doubled) because Bravely Default has to be the best use of the function yet. It's the first time I've felt like I'm missing out by not using 3d.

I know it's been out on other platforms for awhile, but Retro City Rampage has really impressed me. I love the art style, humor and gameplay. Why are we not talking about it much? There is something very appealing about playing this kind of game in portable form as a 3DS game. If I had this on a console, I'd be playing something else and not really interested in this game, I think.. I mean, I'd have GTAV...
If anyone is interested Amazon has the new Professor Layton game (Azran Legacy) on pre-order for 29.96. I'll take 10 bucks off a game that I was for sure buying anyhow.

Sweet. I've been buying shit on Amazon a LOT more ever since I got that free year of prime. Being a grad student DOES have some perks.

A lot of people really hate it for some reason. I haven't played it. Reviews say that all it's good for is nostalgia, and the gameplay is repetitive and frustrating. Shrug.
so, i bought one of these things, but it keeps giving me "error occurred, please restart" after i turn it on. it seems to occur when doing wifi-y stuff (internet browser, wifi settings etc). One of the suggested solutions i found online was to open it up and reconnect the wifi adapter.
so, should i try to tinker with my (brand new, warranted) toy or just send it back for repairs?
Step 2) Have them pre-order on your behalf and set your address as the shipping address.
Oh, I can send money to US amazon just fine, but a:no free shipping, and b:they won't ship the game to Canada even if I were willing to pay for shipping. I could potentially get it sent to someone in the US and have them post it on to me, but the saving isn't enough to be worth the extra hassle.
Are people still using that StreetPass Relay at home? I finally set it up and I'm getting nothing from the prime MAC.
I setup one that rotates through the MAC addresses, it seems to work fine but I've yet to get my copy of BD. I do get tons of shadow Links in Zelda and plenty of Miis come to visit.

Open world games are my favorite type of game, so RCR satisfies that need. All of the pop-culture references are fun, and especially amusing as pixel art. Repetitiveness in games is not always a justifiable complaint. In defense of RCR; If you didn't want the GTA formula of gameplay, this game could be avoided. I think there was a surprising variety of content and charm in the game! And yeah, it's kinda challenging at times, too. What game isn't?

Yeah, even tiny packages are getting close to being $10 for the cheapest shipping to Canada. And our dollar has sunk, so Paypal would take a chunk out in the conversion, too.

Just got a 3DS XL yesterday with Bravely Default (insert obligatory add me invite here). It's nice to have a 3DS again, I traded my OG3DS in October of whatever year they came out (2012?) because it wasn't getting any use. I have a question though. I'm in Canada, and Nintendo Video is telling me that it is not available in my area? What gives? If it matters, I currently subscribe to Unblock-US, so is it possible that my DNS settings on my router are screwing with the region detection on the 3DS?
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!

I'm in Canada, and I can get Nintendo Video just fine, so I'd guess it's this stuff that's confusing things for you.
Pretty easy to flip your region in unblock, then power up your DS and start your videos, then flip back your region while your DS is in the videos. I do a lot of Unblock juggling for the wife while she uses the PS3 to browse Netflix in one region while I'm in another.
Is there a manual online for Bravely Default? The demo just kind of dumps you in and expect you to understand the battle system.
just experiment around with the demo, after the first 30 minutes you should get a good feel for how to do stuff.
tips: left/right on the d pad slows down and speeds up combat, pressing x (or y I forget) will start auto - mode, which will repeat all your last actions. good for grinding on mobs. just use 4x brave and have everyone auto attack or cast magic, then set auto and let the system do the work. don't be afraid to turn off encounter rates (or boost them to 2x) if you need to return to town to heal up at the inn.
Pre-Installed game transfers work like this: When you transfer your old 3DS to a new 3DS, your old 3DS is mirrored 1:1 to the new 3DS, meaning that the pre-installed game will be deleted.
However, the eShop histories are merged, meaning that the game is a simple re-download away from being restored to your system.
BD has rekindled how I hate how the low battery warning is handled. The way I don't hold a 3DS while playing, I never see the first red warning. Then the streetpass light starts blinking red, which is admittedly a great feature. But then I turn into that water wheel robot from Futurama. " OH GOD! I WONT MAKE IT! AHHHH!"

DS or 3DS? I think with the Nintendo Network ID, you can no longer switch your country/region.
Like Mega Man Legends? Then check out my story, Legends of the Halcyon Era - An Adventure in the World of Mega Man Legends on TMMN and AO3!

In other news, I'm close to the end of MGS3D. Nice ride so far, only ever hated the Volgin fight (I would imagine with a CPP it would be OK, but there is one tiny, particular part where you need to move your camera and buttons don't cut it. And it's one hit KO for you if you don't avoid that.)

So another question. I got myself $55 in Nintendobucks yesterday and bought Space Harrier 3D (squee!) and now I have enough left to get a $40 dollar game. I'm looking at Luigi's Mansion, Monster Hunter 3, Etrian Odyssey Untold, and the new Zelda game. Recommendations regarding those four?

I'd also have to sort of recommend Zelda. That is, I really liked it and all, but I also didn't think it was the second coming of Jesus either from what some would have you believe. But to choose from what's available on the eShop at this point in time I would probably say go for Zelda first.

(Still would have preferred a cheaper CE without the statue but whatever.)
In my 3DS: Super Smash Bros, AC New Leaf
Last game completed: Steamworld Dig

If you already have a 3DS, and you buy a new one with a game pre-installed, do you lose the pre-installed one if you do a system transfer?

But yeah buying a new one with a game included, it's a code to redeem. I bought the Zelda XL and redeemed ALBW on my old 3DS.

Zelda.
If you're into JRPGs though, Bravely Default is suuuuper awesome too.
