I don't remember where on the internet I heard about this but since most of us will presumably be shopping at amazon, if you use amazon smile they will donate a tiny pittance of your purchase to a charity of your choice! It isn't much but it is better than nothing at all
I think someone mentioned it earlier in this thread. You can use smile as the root for your long-url version of your wishlist too
it doesn't look like the smile program exists for amazon.ca
Although, it looks like red cross has something where they'll receive a minimum of 5% of the purchase total if you click through their link to amazon? http://www.redcross.ca/donate/other-ways-to-donate/shop-and-donate
Not sure if that could be built into the wishlist link, or if someone buying something for someone in canada would have to remember to click on the link before shopping first.
hrm.

It's half a percent.
Which isn't much for a single wishlist.
But if you consider that Amazon does some hundreds of millions of dollars in commerce over the holiday season alone, even if only one percent of purchases used it, it adds up fast.
And its free dang money. For charity.
Everybody should be updating their wish list links to include the smile. prefix.
I don't think this reminder was posted yet this year anyways, so good news for anyone new to Secret Satans! You can add other website stuff to your Amazon Wish List!
E: I totally didn't check and should have assumed @godmode did; will Newegg actually block that app, dude?
Yeah, I know. It's just strange to me that newegg has a way to create a public list but you cannot link to it easily: The only option is to email it and that just sends the entire wishlist via email in HTML format.

I'm in the inbetween where I can't afford to buy other people stuff but I can buy some for myself
So I would just feel bad signing up for either
That's why I did a lot of back and forthing. I'm not on poverty's doorstep and I'm not going to be in my current totally broke situation forever (I hope??). It's just for the next three months (I hope??) that I'm basically pockets to let and can't afford anything but essential stuff. It just feels like there are people who deserve it way more.

Neville why don't you do a find and replace once you spreadsheet your data and jam the prefix in for everyone who have you a full link.
(This is something I should also totally do once I get home)

I think it's just for Amazon US at the moment - smile.amazon.co.uk doesn't even resolve. So it'd only work for those with Amazon US wishlists.

I'm wavering on whether to sign up for this after all. Because it was a lot of fun being involved last year and I know I'll be sad to miss out. But I know whoever I get as a satanee would get cooler stuff from someone else.
i sent half the stuff i meant to, spent $20-30 on that, but my satanee still seemed pretty happy about what they got. whoever you get will be pleased, because it is the thought that counts; presumably, you're going to think about what they might like or already want, and send something along those lines.
my satan sent me a five-pound bag of Skittles, a book of cast-ons and bind-offs, and a yarn-winder -- it doesn't have to be piles and piles of stuff to be appreciated. those were all things on my wishlist, too, so you can judge if there might've been 'cooler' presents, but i got what i asked for -- way better than the times i've received candles or lotions i'd never use from people who ought to know me better!
if they (ie, those who sign up for this gift exchange) just wanted stuff, they'd go buy it. they want a gift from their satan, and to gift to their satanee.

btw, you can specify the charity to where your proceeds will go. for example, if you'd like to donate to Child's Play instead of the defaults Amazon has up, you can enter "Child's Play" in their system.

No because then that someone else would not be you.

“This is Neville” the radio crackered. “You must gift the satans!”
So Smof gotted his credit card and bought stuff on smile.amazon.com
“HE GOING TO GIFT US” said the satans
“I will gift at him” said a secret satan and he fired the fancy presents. Smof awesomed at him and tried to thank him up. But then his balance fell and Smof felt trapped and not able to gift.
“No! I must gift the satans” he shouted
The radio said “No, smof. You are the satans”
And then Smof was a satanee.
