Whoever mentioned that LEGO City Undercover had an epic ending for just being a LEGO game...wow. Just, wow. I got up there and did the first fight and thought "yeah, this is kind of cool driving this big thing", but then the next part happened and we were fighting out there and then we came back! IT WAS RIDONKS!
My wife and I were both pretty wide-eyed at the ending (I seriously couldn't blink the whole time).
I don't know why I'm surprised I have another massive update to download, but I'm glad I have crazy fast internet. Otherwise this would be even more infuriating!
ETA: And now, having installed the damn thing over 20 minutes, the wii u refuses to connect to my network again! FANTASTIC!
It was more the size of the update that surprised me; but hey, if it was just an update, I could deal with it.
And now the fact that the update has apparently removed the ability for the thing to connect to the network at all. Having literally just downloaded a massive patch, I'm now getting 103-1001 'could not find an available network'.
I went through this when I first set it up and it took hours to sort out. Incredibly frustrating.

That sucks man. But if it's not a widespread problem then it's probably your router.
We wound up having to reconfigure the router to use an older security protocol. We got there in the end, though. I'm a bit baffled why the update caused it to no longer be compatible with what we were using, but it looks like it was using WPA-2 rather than WPA which was the issue.
Weird. Yeah I am using WPA-2 as well. I'm guessing that you can use either WPA2 but lower your MTU or go straight to WPA and not have to worry about it.
Huh maybe should pick up a couple Wiimote pluses and then retire a couple of old ones along with my Wii if I could unload it to someone. Only thing stopping me from getting rid of Wii is I won't have any way to play Paper Mario 1000 Year Door... Although it would hopefully eventually show up as a VC title by the time I'd ever want to play it again.
I initially felt a little bad about the Wii Remotes being on sale, but then I remembered I got them on sale for $35 from NewEgg at their release. $32 plus local tax would be damn close to $35 anyway.

It really is the most "modern" JRPG I've played in forever. I'm having a lot of fun with it, even if its a little light on the difficulty.
That whole HDMI thing makes my untouched Wii library so much more accessible and I love it. I've got all of the Project Rainfall titles to go through, so its pretty nice to make a dent in one. This one's definitely worth $18.99.

I got about halfway through The Last Story before I got tired of it. The gameplay just didn't grab me at all. Xenoblade Chronicles is far and away the best JRPG game of last generation IMO.
It's the weakest of the Operation Rainfall trilogy IMO.
It's better than the Last Story, I thought. I enjoyed the dungeon exploring, figuring out or unlocking shortcuts and the occasional gruesome bits with Elena. But I wouldn't really call it an RPG.

1. Change the DNS to Google's DNS (you can find it by searching for it)
2. Change the MTU for your wireless (on the actual WiiU) to 1200?
