The Medic page says that Chua cannot be Medics, but there's a Chua Medic on the class propaganda poster.
I think it's an oversight, they stated Chua could be both of the unannouned classes in the past and, from all among all the announced classes, the Chua only display as being able to play 2 of them so far.
Unless they changed their minds and taken the Chua from 4 classes to 3 at some point? It used to be "Esper, Spellslinger, Unknown, Unknown", but their race page hasn't displayed classes for weeks now.

I think the mindset is that they wanted both Chua and Aurin to have 3 healers, one tank option. I think this was a fairly recent change and there's speculation as to why. Aurin cannot be medics either. So both have two healing, one tank option currently with Chua getting Esper, Spellslinger and Engineer with Aurin getting Spellslinger, esper and stalker

I had a crazy amount of hype for GW2, and... well, it delivered in every respect.
I hope WS will as well.
I thought GW2 was fine, but like you mentioned, it just didn't scratch a certain itch I have when I play MMOs. Carbine learned some things from Anet, specifically I heard they had a post mortem asking them what worked and what didn't go as well as they hoped and went from there. Dunno how true that is but if so I'm glad to hear the two companies have an amiable working relationship

Also in an amusing bit of something elsewhere, when asked if they were going to be hiring Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street, they answered with a flat out no. I don't know which is funnier. That someone cared enough to ask or that they cared enough to answer "no we're not doing that"

Funny, but comes across as kind of low on their part. I can think of few people that have more capably fielded as much warrantless e-scorn as Ghostcrawler did. I think he'd be a unique asset to any MMO development team, though I can see why you'd want to avoid having those fingerprints on your new franchise.

So I get home yesterday after picking up the kids from school. I go into my room for a bit to lay on my bed because work was long and tiring. My 13 year old runs into the room, and is like, "DAD DAD DAD!".
I ask him what's wrong, and he tells me, "nothing, but Wildstar posted a new video for the ENGINEER and medicAUMG!"

Here you've been working your ass off on a game and while you're trying to promote it somone is like "Hey are you guys going to hire the demi celebrity wow guy now that he's free!?"
Ugh, I try so hard to avoid hype. After the harsh burn of WAR, the hype turns sour so quick.
But then I see these flying house and a healing class where I can offensively wield two giant defibrillators while working to build a bar outside of dungeons as a settler and a part of me just can't help but hope again.
Has there been any structured world PvP info other than the early reference to war plots? Like, faction vs faction?

only structured pvp at launch will be BGs, Arenas and Warplots. Warplots is meant to be an endgame thing as it's 40 v 40 and takes a lot of resources to maintain

Open world PvP will be just that at launch. Structured will be as Beezel described. They said they will look at open world objectives in the future but there are no promises.
So Engineers are Heavy Armor Long Range Tanks with pets and guns. I think the Wildstar Devs must have infiltrated my brain because they took my three favorite things Long Range DPS, Heavy Armor Tanks, and Pets and put them into one thing.
I guess I know what my first class is as soon as I get a beta invite.
I suspect the limited action sets will have a lot to do with it. I'd be surprised if you can have the long range dps, tanking abilities and mitigation, and pets all at once.

Fong implied the bolded part, using slightly different words. I really don't think this is something huge to run about with though. I could easily see the question as being potentially condescending, but I can just as easily see this being a curious and legitimate question. I mean, aren't most of the main Wildstar devs Mythic veterans? So with GC leaving Blizzard it 'could' make sense to soak up a different kind of vet and add said experience to your developing game.
Anyway, had an odd experience. I just activated a NCSoft account but it said I was already enrolled for Beta invites. I'm guessing it still remembered me from the Beta sign-up before the NCSoft account tie-in?! Was that a thing? School's wearing me out and I can't remember exactly what I've done with this lol. I just don't want to be left out due to some mysterious chicanery between various beta sign-up stages. Maybe I'll just use my other email and set-up a separate beta account....
Engineer looks like a lot of fun. Hell, they all do. I want to be throwing mindblades, porting to an alternate dimension, shooting arm cannons and fibrillating fools while I line up my bots to trip you when you get pushed back from my stealth face-punch. EVERYTHING about this game looks fun. If the quests and in-world narratives are as humorous as the videos this will be a lot of fun to play.

That's weird, as I distinctly remember signing up before, and yet the NCSoft account activation acted as though I had just signed up for Beta then...

To be clear; I was suggesting that, if the wildstar person who was answering the question took a snarky tone (not saying he did, I wasn't there and it's an issue of tone), it might have been because of the perceived slight that wildstar has this hot product that people are very excited for, which the staff have obviously put enormous love and attention into, and yet someone asked them if they were planning to bring in someone "important" or "significant".
The implication being that the staff they had was lacking that je ne sais quoi.

I'm so excited for engineer. I'm really digging the spellslinger and esper right now, so I'm (was) 99% sure I was going to jump in as one of these. But now......I don't know exactly why, but depending on how the engineer looks, it may be that. For the sci-fi setting, an engineer seems like it might just exude the right theme and style for me. While not a huge pet class fan in the past, I did love playing an engineer Shepard in ME3, and if I can throw out a bot and shoot mans while the bot tanks mans....I dunno, sounds fun!
I really appreciate how this game avoids the whole "one of these factions is obviously the good guys and you can tell because they have the pretty races" thing that seems so common (WoW, I blame you).
Oh, and also I like how comically dark it is. So, so dark.
Depending on how the lore shakes down in-game, I think the Exiles come closest to the 'good faction.' But yeah, it'd be trivially easy to present both factions (on the whole) as not that different.
I still love the flavor and lore of both factions. I'll probably end up playing Exile because my two buddies are more excited for them then Dominion. (Even with Mechari and Chua in Dominion, but there's no accounting for taste. :P)
And yes, the writing style and tone is one of the things that draws me to this game.

The scrappy rebels versus the evil empire. It's a pretty blatant good guys / bad guys set-up.
In a lot of ways I feel like WoW did more to make the Horde not bad guys while Wildstar is just going with it. The empire ARE bad guys.
They're not fighting it they're embracing it.

Yeah, if anything, Wildstar is very much a good guys/bad guys thing. There is literally an evil empire with goals of rounding up everyone and subjugating them or utterly destroying them if they don't comply. Granted, it's funny, but definitely an oppressive empire. The embracing of this I think is what lends some great humor and potential to the game.
Note: I plan on rolling an elitist Cassian at some point, so.....
I fail to see how the Dominion are the "bad guys." All they want to do is spread peace and prosperity through the galaxy. It's not their fault all these terrorists that call themselves "freedom fighters" keep cropping up and wrecking things for everyone.

No, they're mostly bad. Mechari are the worst. Draken are neutral. Chua are just crazy and amoral. Cassians have a superiority complex but aren't as bad. The one NPC race starting with an L is, from what I gather, nasty as well.
I mean, two of the exile races are with them because of dominion genocides (Aurin, rock people)

The best way to look at the WILDSTAR narrative is as a sort of "Fractured Star Wars", if you're familiar with Fractured Fairy Tales from the old Bullwinkle days.

I want this game so badly. I'm a two-MMO kinda person, and while GW2 is highly excellent, it doesn't fill the void that WoW used to fill.
