Assholes! I lost -all- of my skin unlocks because they pushed them farther back in the hero levels. At best I have "Expert" talents unlocked for my two-skin heroes and "Advanced" talents unlocked for anything that was progressing towards the first skin. Everything else lost access to talents.

yea, there seems to have been a big trade down if you were past the skin tints, as they buried the hell out of them in the current tree. took 101 games to finish my brightwing progression, curious how many the new system will take to get to master skins.
The smallest change they can make to turn Artifacts less awful is to make a few of them very cheap for an entry level option. Just the simple ones like +HP, +Damage, etc, so at least you have some bonus even if it isn't the specialty one you want. It still sucks though that buying artifacts comes out of your budget for unlocking heroes.
Just an FYI purchases are super super slow right now. We're talking 1-2 full minutes per purchase. Expect to take half an hour or more if you decide to buy all of the artifacts right off the bat.

Especially since it looks like you have to buy each artifact upgrade separately. 1-2 minutes per upgrade, lol.
i enjoy it because it really emphasizes the tedium of artifacts
i'd make a comparison between them right now and getting new gear in wow, where you have to gem it, and then you have to enchant it, and you have to reforge it, and you have to item upgrade it, and it turns what should be fun ("oh shit new loot!") into busywork and tedium
i'll probably make a post to that effect on the b.net forums, they should at least understand that concept

I doubt they will, because they're two different teams and Blizzard seems to have problems with communicating design philosophies between their teams. Otherwise they'd know how stupid this whole idea was to begin with just by how it tanked in WoW.
Of course, it's also likely that they could just be taking the hubris approach of "well this time it will turn out differently because we're the ones doing it, not them!", which is a pretty common thing in corporate environments.
took rehgar for a trial to see his talents, my gut tells me that a lightning-shield focused build would be good since you can buff it to give a shield, an attack boost, have a lower cooldown, and spawn it on rehgar when you cast it on an ally, and his other two skills seem good just right out the bat (though the totem's range is a bit small)
Just did my own Rehgar practice match on the new garden map since I couldn't do anything else in the game.
Thought dump:
Talent gating sucks. I only got to try out the boring basic talents on Rehgar
Rehgar himself seems pretty nifty though. His totem disappears pretty quickly but with his instamount and the totem I can see him being awesome at stopping fleeing enemies
Spirit wolf is awesome. It not only appears instantly, but it has a really quick cooldown. It's completely viable to hop in and out of wolf form in the middle of a fight. He doesn't break from wolf form when damaged, but I think it does briefly remove the speed bonus
Garden of Terror seems pretty neat at first glance. The reduced visibility at night seems significant, and the Garden Knight or whatever it's called is definitely different than the Dragon Knight
Garden Knight's anti-structure ability is incredible. It's like plopping down a Raven's Curse on a fort and all its towers, with added damage against minions.
His anti-hero ability seems a little tricky to use. You toss a plant with a tiny aoe circle, and it takes a few seconds to activate. Seems like it would be easy for real players to avoid.
Seems really weird that he spawns from your base. When I was pushing the last set of forts, about a third of his timer was used up by the time I walked over there
Spawning the Garden Knight makes merc camps disappear like with the Dragon Knight
Back to the map, the supposedly "deadly" minions you clear out to get seeds didn't seem to be very dangerous. Dunno if it was just because I was in practice mode
The bigger night monsters seem to be pretty similar to golem fights
Thanks for the input, wonderpug. Can't wait to get off work to try it out.
On a side note about Rehgar, on a stream I'm watching (ZPs), ZP said you can toggle ghostwolf to get an extra attack in, as in it's not affected by the attack swing timer, or it resets the timer? I'm not sure what he was referring to since I was alt-tabbed when he said it, but it sounds interesting (even if it is, possibly, and unintended bonus).

Huh. Just gave it a try and couldn't seem to get any benefit. I was thinking maybe you're able to attack the instant you come out of wolf form, and so doing attack > immediate wolf > immediate attack again might bring that next attack faster, but it didn't seem to make my next autoattack come any faster.
rehgar's first attack out of ghost wolf form deals 100% extra damage so you want to switch in during a fight no matter whether he speeds his attack or not
Toggling into Ghost Wolf on cooldown mid fight does provide additional benefit, though. He does get 100% bonus damage on his first autoattack out of Ghost Wolf (and you can talent that to 200% I believe), so even if that doesn't reset the swing timer it's still worth doing for extra damage output.
Why are the artifact upgrades taking so long? Is it because the process is horribly inefficient? Or is it because the server is bogged down with a ton of people all doing it at once?

I feel bad for the peeps who are playing right now, but knowing if I was home playing instead of stuck at work I'd just be facing all kinds of problems makes the workday a bit easier to handle.

i don;'t think this entire process could be described more accurately
EDIT: to clarify that was not sarcasm. this is absurd
so there are reports that the forced input lag is gone or at least very much lowered. does anyone who can play the game currently have any word on that? i had actually kind of gotten used to it and wonder if it feels weird now.

I never bothered to finish my Tyrael or Kerrigan progression, because the 3-million XP payout was completely worthless at level 40. Now I'm miffed that not only did they rearrange the skins and mount tints, but that lack of incentive to keep going on the tier 6 quest has set me back by at least 40 games, most likely more, on my progression of my two favorite characters.

i am going to try and queue up after supper. maxed out a solid one artifact in like an hour. at least they are investigating it according to the breaking news
Purchases just sped up dramatically. I think they fixed the slowness issues.
i can confirm that as well. interesting that it didn't have to come down for it. unless everyone just gave up and the servers weren't getting hammered any longer

Ahh, gotcha. Wasn't watching the damage numbers. In that case, yeah, it seems pretty easy to sneak in brief little wolf form moments midfight.
I feel like Diablo with health bonus/1% health regen artifacts and the extra health/regen from souls talent is going to be really really stupid.
Time to try Diablo.
...In about three hours when all of these artifact upgrade purchases process.
Yeah, just tried this.
Not. Even. Right.
Soul Feast
Amplified Healing
Endless Death
<your choice>
Spell Shield(AI took it when i d/ced briefly, but it worked - I'd probably go CC reduction instead)
Imposing Presence
Storm Shield.

i didn't notice much difference, but i didn't have a problem with the input previously most of the time
I only ever got input lag when I got the blinking Ethernet icon, so I assumed it was usually related to server issues. Like, one game I'll be free and clear of lag, the next I'm lagging the whole time w/ the blinking icon, then back to normal, etc.

I'm interested in finally giving a MOBA an honest shot, and this seems like the one for me.
