I'd post a url to Game Grumps out doing 3 wolf moon with 3 butts moon, but as the original .gif got infracted I decided against it. But rest assured. The Lovelies have latched onto Grump Butt.

I truly thought the SNES version of Aladdin WAS the superior one, despite being more of a Mario clone than something action-oriented.

All that aside, there's no reason they also couldn't get a Genesis Ultimate Collection that has 40 or so games on it for the PS3 or 360 and play some Genesis games. It even has Ristar, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage in it... and a majority of terrible games like Decap Attack, Kid Chameleon and Comix Zone.

That's a good idea. I might pick that up and send it to them instead.

Then they'd have no excuse not to play Genesis games :P.

I haven't seen it yet, is Ross the one controlling the game? Because if so, I don't think they're even going to get that far. Ross will scream and shakycam into a corner for twenty minutes until Arin gets pissed off and yells at him to advance.

On another note: I made the mistake of reading the youtube comments of DreadOut and my fucking god Game Grumps fans are fucking douchebags. I do not envy Arin, Danny, and Ross one bit for having to put up with that shit. It is seriously atrocious.

I don't think they're as rich as you think they are. A lot of people can afford to take trips to Japan and New Zealand, it doesn't necessarily require a six figure salary.

Well, I mean, on top of the fact that Arin and Danny...well Danny at least, is a decent person :P, and I can hardly imagine how awful it would be to having people spewing this shit at you day-in-day-out. No one deserves that, especially not dudes who are just playing video games on youtube. How can these "fans" who are constantly screaming abuse at them even care enough to get this angry at them?

From seeing what they own and how they spend money, combined with what I learned from other Youtube people on how much their videos make...they have more than enough money to offset some rude comments on the internet.

Money doesn't provide an insulating barrier that deflects negative feelings.

I think Arin's personality would do more to make him able to laugh off awful comments than the amount of money he is making, but even still beyond a certain point I think anyone would start to get affected by it.

Just look at the likes of Totalbiscuit, who has said directly that he has devolved into a total emotional and physical wreck due to stress from dealing with comments.

Youtube comments are a special kind of sewage it has to be said, but some other sites (EG Gamespot) aren't far behind in being hideously awful.

Arin has proven he's pretty heartless and doesn't much care what people think, yes. Yet he still whines about Youtube comments. Oh well.

Yeah it must be tough. The good fans give you an emotional high and make you feel like what you're doing is worthwhile, but the bad ones make you wonder why you even bother. I'm assuming really successful people do something like Ricky Gervais does and enjoy the hate somewhat.

  • DonnictonDonnicton Registered User regular
The thing is, if it were just YouTube comments, no shit they could probably just ignore it. But they're potentially getting harassed at any given time in areas you can't even guess at. They have a Twitter, Facebook, their own channels, Polaris, Steam, PSN, Reddit, e-mail... It's not just people bitching about rolling into the water in any given Dark Souls Part X comment section.

It's a not-so-esoteric hypocrisy with humans that a lot of them can and will have triggers towards certain subjects that will set them off even if they're otherwise pretty uncaringly passive towards everything else. (you can just look at the PA forums for plenty of examples)

It's there choice to put themselves out there, and to give people ways to contact them on top of that. I've seen other YT people who have video comments turned off, give no personal info to their fans and make a point not to go hunt down people talking about them on reddit or whatever.

We shouldn't excuse awful behavior just because its a thing that happens and certainly shouldn't say things like "they put themselves in that position" because that's just fucked up.

I don't wish anyone who does youtube for a living to have to sift through all the youtube comments that get posted. No amount of money would make the hate and poison that comes from people worth it. Even PewDiePie at his peak, when it was estimated he was making serious bank (I read estimates of 30-50k a month in ad revenue), gets paid enough to put up with it.

Criticism is one thing, but some of the comments that get posted can make COD Children look like saints.

The problem is that so many people think this behavior is somehow acceptable, and feel like they don't have to treat other people like human beings just because this is the internet. "If you put yourself out there you will be assaulted with constant verbal abuse" doesn't need to be the status quo, people are capable of better behavior than this, and they're only getting away with it because not enough people are calling them out on it.

    EDIT:
What gets me is that some of these comments are from clearly intelligent enough people. Like these are well formulated statements with correct grammar and a good vocabulary but they just happen to be overflowing with unwarranted vitriol. Why would anyone be that angry about people playing video games?
