Just look at the likes of Totalbiscuit, who has said directly that he has devolved into a total emotional and physical wreck due to stress from dealing with comments.
Youtube comments are a special kind of sewage it has to be said, but some other sites (EG Gamespot) aren't far behind in being hideously awful.
For those still disregarding this sort of abuse as "par for the course, shrug it off with money", here's a personal account with online abuse from a different online personality and just how taxing it is.

Even PewDiePie at his peak, when it was estimated he was making serious bank (I read estimates of 30-50k a month in ad revenue), gets paid enough to put up with it.
As someone whose had to deal with supervisors that are pretty much emotionally abusive for only $8/hour I would try my damndest to put up with that shit for 50k a month.
Now if you'll excuse me I need to go brainstorm ideas for a hit Youtube channel.

How about a channel where you just read the mean things people say and cry and contemplate suicide? Feed the trolls until they explode in ad revenue.
No one should ever be an asshole to anyone.
Except to pewdie pie.
Nah, not even to him.
I think the whole "they make a lot of money so whatever" is an aspect of the same jealousy that motivates most of the comments. A lot of people hate that other people have good things in their lives.
Yeah, I'm quite troubled by that attitude. People being successful does not entitle others to shit on them for their own entertainment. No, not even if they have an annoying personality. Or worse yet, are bad at video games.

I learned something long ago:
The people who are supportive will give you a "Good job!" and move on silently. Those that are on your side of an argument will articulate it once and feel they've said enough.
Those people who are derogatory or of a dissenting opinion will continue to shout it from the mountains for as long as they see value in it. This can be a moment of fame, a belief they can change the person they are talking to, or "for the lulz."
As such, the internet becomes extremely negative, because the positive people have an "agree" button or can upvote something, and the negative people will.. be negative.
I've kind of made it a point to be as supportive as possible on the positive side. This sometimes comes across as fanboyism, or naivete, and can get on people's nerves. But I've actually gotten compliments from people for being supportive and uplifting, and I'm starting to apply that to my own life.
The Game Grumps get a fuckton of shit, especially from people who don't realize how hard improv really is. This is increased by their choices in scheduling. But I can assure you that the positive messages they do get offsets it, and we should all strive to be supportive. This doesn't mean we can't be critical, but it does mean we are ACTUALLY critical and not destructive.
It's actually why I'm on these forums - it's very hard to be destructive per the rules. So it makes being positive and supportive easier.
the problem is there is no repercussions for such actions. I guarantee if you where allowed to throat punch douche bags through the internet, people would be a lot more pleasant. and those that don't get the hint, simply can't spew their filth in any audibly recognizable form anymore.
This vitriol is permanent on the internet, long after it's been said, but people 5, 6 months, 2 years down the road can still read it. Even those creators could say, "Hey, we had a lot of fun making that episode, and it was a pretty good episode there, what did people say... oh... that guy... those people..." It's not like regular speech, while it still shouldn't be said, where its said and gone in the ether for anyone else to come across at a later time and place.
Also the fact that if someone said something about me to my face I could physically correct them on the spot, if I so desired. If I decided to search for the peep through the net it becomes ''premeditated''. :P

Eh. I don't like the idea of the threat of repercussions being the answer.. that just touches on things way too heavy for Game Grumps, and I don't want to live in a punitive society. Rather, I just try my best to set a good example, and hopefully others will follow my lead.

I think the point is that they're making a ton of money so it's easier for them to brush off the haters. I imagine that if they weren't making any money AND getting the verbal abuse we'd see a lot less Game Grumpage.
Shit I don't think I'd take double my salary for the amount of bullshit they have to put up with.... Triple... Maybe.
There's pretty much no basis for any of the bullshit people write about the gamegrumps, people are just assholes. Especially to Arin, people will take whatever he said that one time (especially if it was during one of those hours he was doing comedy, think of the children!) and extrapolate it into huge negative attributes.
It's the typical de-humanization of celebrities. Oh look Tom Cruise got agitated at that one asshole with a camera! That definitely human guy with the camera was being a douche, but that's no basis for Toms reaction! He must just be unstable or hate other human beings! .... Or you just picked 2 minutes of someones life, blasted it all over the internet and drew conclusions about someones character from it. Everyone would be guilty of being friendstabbing puppystomping narcissistic nazis by this standard.

Oh the memories, back in the glory days where Dan would just machinegun crazy stories. I mean he still has stories, but back then he'd just pump them out as soon as there was silence for 10 seconds, and they were always outrageous.
Sexbang has to be like, literally the best guy to have at a party ever. How could he not entertain new acquaintances for hours.
Edit: Ross is surprisingly competent at being a fun guy just talking on DreadOut. I felt he was always the weakest comedian and the worst guy to watch play. He's good at table flip though.

That really depends on your personality type. Notch, Maddox and Matthew Inman(The Oatmeal) just to name some examples are gigantic fucking trolls and they're more likely to simply one-up you in response. Though for people that would be considered by the larger part of humanity to be "normal" probably wouldn't be able to deal with it.
I don't really understand the money argument. "People are being complete assholes" "Yeah but the people they're assholes to have money", so what? I mean I guess maybe a little bit if we were talking about billionaires and you used the "Oh yeaaaah pooooor billionaire have to deal with youtube comments! I guess they'll cry about it sailing on their yacht in their inhouse sea made of other yachts" but they're clearly not in that category. They're performers and probably care a whole bunch about the feedback they get, though I think they've learned to take the feedback they receive IRL instead of internet comments.

I wouldn't imagine they making a fortune, but a comfortable living. Isn't it only a couple of months ago since Danny actually quit his job since he could live off what he was making from NSP and Grumps?
Regardless, no excuse for people being dicks. I think the biggest mistake here was reading the Youtube comments.
Jon mentioned on the cooptional podcast that the negativity was getting to him while he was on grumps. The flappy bird guy was making money hand over fist, and took the game down because of the negativity.
Being a creator in the public eye is hard. I was doing music in a fairly small community online, and even when things were well received, the negative remarks were the ones that stuck. A lot of the better musicians wouldn't even come on it because they had better things to do than listen to the shit they'd get.
I see people say that the money makes it worth it. But that's not true, or untrue. Creator's love to make things for people, and being able to live off of that just makes it better. Getting hate and vitriol for the things you create is the worst, because the main thing you want is to have others enjoy it.

I don't think I've ever said "So what?" I'm saying (as many are here) that it's probably easier to brush off when they look at the bank account. People are assholes to everyone. It's easier to give them the middle finger if you're making money and doing something fun in the meantime.

I think Dread Out's presentation is pretty awful, but there's definitely some atmospheric talent and game design here. Even if it's exactly like Fatal Frame. Either way I'm enjoying this playthrough.

It seems low-budget, in which case I'm willing to give it some slack for inconsistency.

Agreed. That patty cake into bitch slap animation was pretty hilarious though. Some animator was having a field day with that.
A lot of people have been commenting that the odd texturing on her miniskirt makes it look like she's wearing a thong with a see-through skirt. I'll tell ya, once you see it, you can't unsee it.

I can actually foresee a few places that they're going to have troubles.
There's a puzzle which is a pain in the ass to get it to recognize that you're doing it right. The aformentioned Scissors Ghost, which is just complete and utter bullshit, since you have to "fight" it in a tiny room and it can basically stunlock you to death. If they don't rage-quit, I could see them taking a couple episodes to get past it.
The "limbo" section when you die is actually interesting/annoying, since the more times you die, the further you have to run to get back to the light.
THERE IS NO CAP ON HOW FAR YOU CAN HAVE TO RUN. They may have to fast-forward a few times on the runs if they die a lot.
Also, DreadOut is a episodic game, and as I understand it only Episode 1 is out currently.

I would love to see them play SCP Containment Breech for charity. Get fans to pledge $ if they manage to get either the Gate A or Gate B ending.
I'd put even money on NOPE'ing out before they even encounter SCP 106 or 096. But I'd pledge like 20 bucks if they manage to beat it in a charity stream
