Starmie's in the water 3 egg group.

It also taunts me by being genderless.

    Ah of course.

Fastest way seems to be squirtle -> kabuto -> tentacool.

Math question from previous thread! I guess it's no big deal if no one knows, I'm just curious.
I know that there are 65,536 trainer IDs. (Despite the 5 digits allowing for 100,000, it's just a 16-bit number.)

It's easy to calculate your odds of winning the lottery outright. With just my ID it's 1/65,536, if I have 100 pokemon from Wonder Trade and the IDs are unique it's 100/65,536, or about 1/655.

But how do you calculate the chance of winning 2nd, 3rd, or 4th prize? When it's about matching digits, and you can match any digit, but the digit has to be in the same position, and each digit can be from 0-9...I forget how all this works.

Say I have 100 trainer IDs in my box and I want to know how often I will match 2 and get a PP Up. What's the answer?

So I decided to be a huge nerd and whip up a Python script that could give us a pretty accurate estimate of these percentages (assuming IDs vary from 00000 to 65535 - it might be slightly different if they vary from 00001 to 65536). These estimates are accurate to +/- 0.1%.

    Number of IDs you have | 0 Matches | 1 Match | 2 Matches | 3 Matches | 4 matches | 5 matches
    0001 | 55.1% | 40.7% | 03.9% | 00.3% | 00.0% | 00.0%
    0010 | 00.0% | 63.3% | 33.5% | 03.0% | 00.2% | 00.0%
    0025 | 00.0% | 36.9% | 55.6% | 06.9% | 00.5% | 00.0%
    0050 | 00.0% | 12.4% | 72.4% | 14.0% | 01.1% | 00.1%
    0100 | 00.0% | 00.7% | 70.5% | 26.5% | 02.2% | 00.2%
    0250 | 00.0% | 00.0% | 43.7% | 50.5% | 05.4% | 00.4%
    0500 | 00.0% | 00.0% | 19.0% | 69.6% | 10.6% | 00.8%

I was really hoping that night shade worked differently for some arbitrary reason and would work on a normal pokemon, as it can't be super effective either.

Going into that battle my only thought was "Please don't have a gale force talonflame. Please."

Heh when I sent in Breloom it mostly so I could get Fake-Out back, figured he would die a horrible psychic bird death. I was puzzled why you didn't destroy him utterly the 1st turn until I thought back to what he had done before.

Hah, don't think that would've helped me much in retrospect. Not like Talonflame would have been able to do much against reuniclus and kangashkan, which were the most difficult 2 to handle.

I'm now tempted to use Starmie as a rapid spinner as opposed to Tentacruel to avoid the rapid spin egg chain (even though only breeding with Dittoes will be maddening) and because I already have a pokemon that can hit the other team with Toxic. I worry that it may be too squishy though. My other team members are starting to look like it'll be Talonflame, Kangaskhan, Gliscor, Goodra, and Gengar (who feels a bit boring for me Gengar just has such different weaknesses than most of the team).

I would LOVE for a person trading with me to be able to pick out what they want from my boxes. @CoolTrainer opened a trade with me last night, "Dan" in game, and I could not remember what he wanted until he flashed his own Eevee. Maybe I should just start turning on the voice chat for trades :/

So honestly...having 100 looks to be right about where you want to be. Eliminate Moomoo Milk and keep the Rare Candy percentage low...and it only uses ~3 boxes instead of ~8.

Does your script just brute force it, pick X random numbers from 0-65535, pick a winning number, check, and do it over again repeatedly?

    1. So, to watch the video, you get into VS and search the code? Where do I find this "vs" thing?
    2. How does auto-levelling in battles work? Are all they retaining is the movesets, or the stats as well?
