Okay...how the hell is the fire crystal boss supposed to work?
He has two phases, which you've probably figured out.
During his Defense phase, the only thing that does more than one damage to him are fixed damage attacks, such as with items or money-based attacks. Throw items he's weak to if you want to put the hurt on him, otherwise just default and heal as necessary.
On about the third turn he will switch to Offense mode. The Transform command is the only thing he will do that turn.
The turn immediately following that he will use a full-party, high-damage energy blast. It's good to have your Magic Defense boosted, and make sure you default on this turn. After that turn, unleash on him. Special Attacks galore, boosted combos, whatever you can get.
On about the third turn he'll switch back to Defense and it starts all over again.
It's a frustrating fight at first but manageable if you keep your health up and Default a lot.
Alright. Thanks. I figured out most of that, but he seemed way too good at just decimating my entire party on the first turn. Probably should switch up jobs a bit.

So people keep talking about how great CHapter 4 is for grinding
Where in Chapter 4 is good for raising classes? There are a few spots where I could make 120-200 JP per battle, but even that is starting to be a drop in the bucket starting at job levels 10 and 11
Florem chapter 5 is the best for grinding. Specifically right beside the save dude at the end of the Valkyrie dungeon.
Also about chapter 6 and on
Bosses start getting really good items to steal
Yes, those little plant fella's that come in large groups are fantastic, especially when you're taking them out in one turn with Black Bane. They're also on the Islands below Crecent Island, North of Florem.
I miss when Thief Knife had enough attack power that, for a short time, I could just Brave 4x and use it to kill and nearly 100% steal from every enemy in a single turn.
It's actually pretty dumb, you have to choose an option in battle that looks nothing like sending anything. You "summon friend" and then the menu pops up with summon or send.
I thought the tutorial quest thing told you how to do that?
Well, that's probably where my 17 damage summon is coming from. So, if i have Edea with a Hack n' Slash ready to go, all I do is select send? Will it still use up the attack?
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

Yes. You attack normally, then send a copy. You aren't losing the damage - you still tear your enemy apart.

When you choose send, the next turn you make a move with gets sent, whatever it happens to be, and the attack still does happen in your game. Just the very next turn, not like all 4 braves or anything like that.
What most of us end up doing though is Bravely Second>Send>Special to break damage limit.
I should add some of you people, though. My Rejuvenation is now HP lv5, MP lv5, Brave lv2, and shortly I'll have Cure KO too. So, you know, full restore, +2 BP all, etc.
Pretty much. When you select send, it goes back to the normal battle menu, but it's a different color. It will send whatever attack you use from that menu. You'll use the attack just like normal, damaging the enemy and everything.
my money making loop was running, and I'm now sitting on over 8 million PG.
Please to explain.
Basic requirements:
1. Merchant with "Big Pharma" and the Red Mage "MP in a Pinch" passive unlocked. Bonus points for having the class passive from Salve Maker so you can double the effectiveness. Boost the Mind stat as much as possible with equipment for more of a boost.
2. Knight with Protect Ally unlocked. Bonus points for anything that makes this person more survivable that require no actions on their part.
3. White Mage with the Red Mage "MP in a Pinch" passive unlocked.
4. Someone capable of dealing consistent non-critical damage, typically via Black Mage, although I used a Vampire with the Chomp genome instead. Again, you'll want the Red Mage "MP in a Pinch" passive unlocked.
Then you find a creature that only does single target physical attacks, and kill off any extra enemies in the fight.
1 will cast Big Pharma on the enemy, which heals it and gives you PG equal to the amount of damage that was healed.
2 will auto-protect the others once they get into critical health range (less than 20%), which may require you to use Phoenix Downs if they skip over critical and just die, but the Phoenix Down should put them right into critical condition.
3 will heal 2, as that is the only character of yours that should take any damage once you get going.
4 will deal damage to the enemy, allowing Big Pharma to heal it. If you use Black Magic, you have to make sure that you deal less damage than what Big Pharma heals for, or else you'll eventually kill the enemy. If you have access to Vampire, Chomp has a 50% chance of reducing the enemy to 1 HP, so it can work a bit safer. In either case, make sure this character has a speed so that they will always act either before or after 1, if it isn't consistent, you run the risk of killing the enemy accidentally.
Once you have it all set up, you just turn on Auto and leave your 3DS to do its thing while it racks up tons of money for you. It is feasible to get it going around chapter 4 without using Abilink, with it you could get it going as early as chapter 1, although it would probably be a lot less efficient and a bit more hassle than its worth at point.

Could the Knight also be doing Full Cover on the White Mage for their action each turn?

Could the Knight also be doing Full Cover on the White Mage for their action each turn?
Perhaps, but it's unnecessary. For this to be fully sustainable, you need all three non-Knights to be in critical so they trigger the MP in a Pinch ability that lets them cast for free. Them being in critical then also triggers the Knight's Protect Ally, so the Knight ends up taking all the hits anyway. Depending on what you chose to fight, you'll probably want the Knight defaulting each turn to lessen the damage in case the enemy gets in two hits before the healing comes.

So when you set "Auto," does it only repeat the last round of actions you took? I haven't tested it but I guess I always assumed it did the whole battle from the start.
So you just carefully kill off all but one enemy, and then do the "setup/loop" set of actions, and then put it on Auto?
its pretty clear Airy isnt right. Shes not even being subtle now
I know.
Its going to be hell playing this game from the beginning on a New Game+ later, I mean the whole time I'm just gonna be eyeing Airy and bein' all Mrgrgr.... in her direction.

Auto attempts to do whatever you did last round. If you Braved to 4 turns and chose heal Ringabel, attack, attack, attack, it will keep doing all of that. When you get back to 0 BP it will Brave again etc. If Ringabel is dead, you'll heal someone else. If you don't have the MP to cast heal, I believe it does a normal attack instead.
Then if you turn off auto in the same battle and choose to Default and auto again, you will Default every turn.
Uh-oh, I've tried to not get too much spoiled, but I did find out that in the later chapters
you have to repeat the game four times to get to the true ending. Is that as tedious as it sounds, and is it worth it to do it instead of just getting the short-cut ending and calling it a day?

How do I know this? Because you can Blue Mage it.

Just equip the thief gloves accessory and the thief knife on anyone at any time.
You're like 25 hours into the game.
