What you will want to do is:
1) Play the storyline until you get the diving bell.
2) blow up ALL the enemy forts to open up the map and see where everything is. It helps that this one is fun as all hell to do, as it blends ship combat against a stationary target with occasional weather mayhem AND other boats.
3) get all the Sea Shanties; give your crew some variety of songs to sing.
After that, you can take or leave the story missions (I took them because I enjoyed the plot quite a bit), but you can upgrade everything and do everything with the game at this point (aside from getting Kenway's rope darts; they don't show up until almost the last part of the game).

I went into AC4 already disliking it because AC3 was just that bad. I only even picked up AC4 because I got it for free from Amazon. Once you get your ship, though... it's like waaaaaaat?! The first time you go up and over a rogue wave is just... mmmm!
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
well, technically KI is free too, if you don't mind sticking to one character and not earning achievements. I would say having more exclusives means you have a better chance of having more good exclusives. PSN+ is a great value that MS is having a hard time replicating, but I think a year down the road the differences between the two will shrink dramatically.
we can make list warz but mostly it just comes down to what games you enjoy.
The free character rotates, so you should be able to get achievements for the other characters unless they've explicitly stated otherwise and I haven't seen it... but with over 12,000 matches required to get 1000/1000 points in the game, if you're planning on being free-only then you probably won't be trying to 100% it anyway.
Also, you don't need to keep an active gold account to still be able to play KI, albeit locally? Haven't been silver since... well... ever so IDK.

Are we really using this as an argument? Kind of silly since don't you have to have live for ki? That and it's kind of arbitrary since this is about excludives, which I guess even me saying free was arbitrary. I'm just saying more isn't better and I'd argue Resogun is the best exclusive currently.

I just don't have a place for it in my apartment.
In fact, going 100% digital this generation is going to save me so much space, as I will remain completely untempted by the dubstep guns, cat helmets, and huge titan statues.

Yeah if they're limited run prints you should have them matted and framed (do NOT dry mount any art you want to keep valuable as it ruins it).
You can usually get it done professionally at any Hobby Lobby for around 50-60 bucks including the frame. Michaels is another bet but they're much pricier. I have usually have all my art framed at Hobby Lobby.

I don't think you can earn achievements for KI until you buy a character (I thought the prompt upon first loading it up said that). no idea about local play, but I bet you need to be connected to use the current free character.
looks like we don't need to worry about the machines taking over the Earth and enslaving/destroying humanity just yet. the Kinect had a bit of trouble recognizing me today after i'd gotten my hair cut. i'm assuming the gradual change of it growing back will be easier for it to track, but the sudden change was a bit too much it would seem.
so maybe someone let John Connor know that he should invest in some wigs. :P

Alright so my Xbone is "live". (Clever yeah? No? Ok no. ) I have added a few from the mega list and will add more soon. On to Forza!
So my Kinect is already dead after 5 days of ownership. I was sitting there watching TV and it just went off. I followed all the tips on the Xbox service site and it wont come back on.
Awesome. I know its not necessary to have it, but Im pretty pissed that it died in less than a week. Im also pissed that if I want it back in less than 2 weeks or so I have to pay for expedited shipping or let them put $100+ dollars on hold with my bank. I know...first world problems.
I was really enjoying this system until about 30 minutes ago...
EDIT: Did the expedited shipping for $11.00. Im not letting them put a $129 hold on my bank account for a week for the super expedited return thing. I dont have a lot of faith in the MS return/repair center after my 26 day repair return for my 360. (well, it was a 26 day trek for them to send me ANOTHER defective unit that I had to send back and wait another 28 days to get that one back even though the repair center in McAllen, TX is only 376 miles from my house)
So, to summarize: Bought my Xbox One on the 26th, Kinect crapped out on the 31st. 5 days. The best part is going to the Xbox.com support forums and seeing the massive amount of people reporting the same issue. Listen, I know its not a deal breaker and that I really dont have to have the kinect, but after doing some searching on the internet, it seems like this is a pretty big issue.
As long as I can still play my games I'm fine, but to have a part of my new system die within 5 days is a bit troubling.
