Took my broken Kinect and my XB1 back to Gamestop for a new one. Decided to grab a new system instead of waiting the 10-16 days that MS Service was giving me as a turnaround time for a new kinect. The upside is that my setting are all saved, the downside is that I have to reinstall everything.

Turns 3 through 5 at Sebring are the biggest clusterfuck. I sigh every time it comes up in career mode because it's just a wall of stupid AI attempting to go four-wide through the narrowest part of the track.
like I said when they dropped the always online requirement, I picked up an Xbox 1 today. really anxious to try killer instinct and Crimson Dragon tonight
Prepare to be disappointed with Crimson Dragon. It's not the same game as previous Dragoon games. As soon as you hit start and listen to the narration in English instead of the fictional language it's all downhill from there.
Will be interested what you think of KI since we both picked up the same games.
I guess I should also mention I picked up DR3, too, but I'm trying to look at it objectively right now without it's flaws bothering me.

I've never seen the AI not 4-wide through any part of anything, in anything. Track day at the Indy Oval? FOUR WIDE, PEOPLE! GO GO GO GO GO GO! It's how I found out there's a 3rd side to pass on in an Indy car.

I got NBA 2K14 as well, I was going to pick it up for the PS4 but I realized I had no physical Xbone games and decided to grab that one on the Xbone instead.
Prepare to be VERY disappointed with NBA 2K right now. Their servers have been pretty much obliterated since Xmas. Most people haven't been able to fully log into the game for about a week.

I don't have Xbox live nor do I plan on getting it, this is only for local play with my friends, so no big deal to me.
Edit: although two posters back to back telling me to prepare for disappointment on two different products makes me laugh. Xbox one: prepare for disappointment

Crimson Dragon is just a bad game, sadly. You know I didn't want it to be.
NBA2K is a bad game on every platform when it comes to online play. If you never plan on playing online you should be fine. It's great otherwise.
There is a lot to be happy about on the one, and a few misses as well.
I'm hoping upload studio adds a screenshot ability down the line. For those things where something looks cool but you don't want to make a clip.
This. I was yelling "Xbox, take a screenshot!" assuming something would happen yesterday. I've been spoiled by PS4s share button I think.
I think the problem is that the precision timing needed to take a screenshot is not really conducive to voice - the grabbing of 30 seconds with a voice command, or 5 minutes with a snap is far more likely to get your intended thing.
I guess if you mean once you are in the upload studio itself, you should be able to save individual frames at 1080p or something and send them to skydrive... yeah, that would be nice, and would be a nice feature addition. The game DVR saves the footage at the size of the framebuffer, then compresses before sending it anywhere, so theoretically you should be able to get near-game quality screenshots from it.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
Well, I think I might finally take the plunge and pick up an Xbox One. I decided to sell my Xbox 360 and some games to help fund the purchase (because I cannot justify a $500 expense right now). I know that I won't ever go back to playing the Xbox 360 once I get an Xbox One anyway, so that helped me make the decision. I'm getting pretty excited and should have one by the end of the week. To keep initial costs down I will probably be going with one game to start. Most likely a shooter to give me some replayability. My friend who I game with the most has BF4, but I'm a little weary after hearing all of the issues the game is having. He seems to be having little issue though. Anyone here noticing any major problems? I'm interested in a lot of the launch titles, but will probably pick them up here and there as I get some money/prices come down a bit. Come on end of the week!
Do they sell physical copies of Killer Instinct? Like a disc with the DLC already included at a full price? I've seen what looks like black boxes online but the retailer I was at had no idea what I was talking about when I asked about them.

Pretty sure it's digital only. But, you can buy a Pinultimate Edition if you want a box on your shelf:

i think the closest to a physical copy is the Pin Ultimate Edition and even then i think its just a download code for the game, with a box/case for the pins.

Oh, that's probably what I was seeing then. I don't need a box for my shelf, I just don't want to be tied to the online ecosystem. No problem, I'll just download it when I get home.
So it occurs to me that I don't have any xbone games that take advantage of the rumble triggers. What's a good game to utilize this feature? I'm guessing Forza is the best bet? Does the xbone recognize racing wheels like the G27?
EDIT: Duurrr, just realized my second question negates the point of getting forza in the first place. Any other kind of game use the rumble triggers well?
Forza is the best(only?) use of rumble triggers so far. its also an amazing game and if you read back this thread and the Forza thread you'll see just how many people its converted to the sim-racer genre(myself included). don't think the Xbone recognizes any racing wheels(or other peripherals) yet, but others might be able to tell you different on that one.
my copy of ryse (and my kinect TV mount!) just got here. I am looking forward to trying it out, but I seriously shot myself in the foot by buying so many games. I have started DR3, Forza, BF4, and AC4 already on xbone, not to mention a few 360 games I never touched/finished. I should really just focus on DR3 as I am farthest in that.

bleh. I don't think I could play another sim racer without the benefit of VR. Arcade racers are fine, because they're not really suited to VR (things like extreme drifting actually kills the prospect of using VR for them because you're expected to have your car turning in a direction where you wouldn't be able to see the road), but after iRacing, I could never go back to a normal-screen sim game.
I was under the impression that forza was more like project gotham racing. If it's a sim game, that kills all my (already little) enthusiasm for it.

I know exactly what this is like. I think I have a problem when the new shinies come out (games or systems) and not picking them up. I have a backlog the size of most people's entire library. Part of that comes from when I worked in the electronics department in Wal-Mart and I would wait on games and then never see them come in again when I was ready to buy them and I hate buying used (the stickers/conditions of the disc and manuals just gets to me). So now I buy either at release or close to it if I want the game. I am loving the new trend of digital releases that will keep games available practically forever and I hope that will curb my purchases a bit.

this is my first Forza so i may not be the best person to sell it, but i will say that i was a big fan of the PGR games* and while Forza 5 is certainly more a straight racer i've been loving it since launch. its got a great learning curve, with plenty of difficulty settings to toggle and set to your liking and for all the hype the Drivatars really do change how the game feels from other racers. really, no matter what happens you never feel cheated by computer AI and in ever race ever other car really is another person. you'll find yourself cursing Gamertags** rather than the computer.
i'd say wait and if you can give it a try before buying do so. especially if you can get some prolonged hands-on time. if you feel it'd be better with a wheel, try again when they're available. if you decide its not for you, fair enough. but again, there are so many people that aren't big fans of sim-racers that have fallen in love with the game that i think it'd be a shame if you didn't at least try it out at some point.

I'd like to go digital for the most part this generation, but I'm considering picking up physical copies of some of the launch titles until some games come out I want to keep for the long haul. Does the Xbox One allow you to quick switch with the game in the disc tray?

the game OS only runs one game at time, so if you want to switch from disc to a digital title or vice-versa(or from digital to digital) the 2nd game will boot from scratch and you'll lose any unsaved progress in the first.
Aw shit, I just realized I have no controller well suited for Killer Instinct. Do they sell arcade sticks for the xbone yet?
Madkatz makes a tournament level stick for it.
There is also a 60ish dollar USB dongle that will let you use your other USB peripherals from last gen.
USB Xbox peripherals, or USB HID peripherals? Because I have my own sticks I've made and always hated that they weren't compatible with the 360 because it didn't support anything HID.
Also, link to this dongle? Or do they sell them in stores?
I told myself I was going to go digital, but so far I have gotten all physical. partly so I can sell them later, and also because I kinda do like having the boxes on my shelf.

If you bought the game in physical format, then to play it, you need to put the disc in. This does impede quick-swapping, and is a reason I went all-digital, because I am THAT lazy.
Um. Related. How does the eject button work? Tap, double-tap, tap-hold...? I realise this should be obvious as hell but it took me 5 minutes of poking to get the DVD I tried out. It just beeps pleasantly at me when I hit it.

I bet I just wasn't waiting long enough or something. I hit it, got beeps, then got impatient. Then more impatient. Then accidentally found the power button.
