So it ended up being a lot more work than I thought it would be, but my creation is finished! Just in time for PAX South 8-)

The velcro on there is super strong and there are no gaps -- there's no way a pin could fall out of the protected area by accident. Thanks to @Duckie‌ for the sewing/fabric pointers and @seawolven‌ for the original inspiration.

Those are all potential trades, but unless a person has some of their own tasty trades I suspect it will be more of an attention grabber to bring in lower-stakes trades. I'll also have a conventional lanyard with my show pass, loaded up with fodder and basic trades from Prime 2014.

The green sash itself I got from the Boy Scout store in town for $10. The clear part is the thickest gauge vinyl I could find at the fabric store, and the black fabric is cotton twill tape. I used the sew on type Velcro, because I was afraid of melting the vinyl with the iron on kind.

Just rearranged my pins in my binder after PAX South. Here's a pic of the binder pages (as well as the rest of the collection):
    IjwRrpm.jpg

And a picture of the page I'm most proud of:
    GaIHmXo.jpg

I think for now, my display solution is the binder for all the pins I don't want to trade, and the scarf to display the pins I do. It was awesome seeing people's custom displays at South! Can't wait to see them again at East!

I'm trying to do kinda the same thing @Chubby Bunny‌ , but with a scrap book instead of a binder. what are you using for the pages?
I have cardboard but it's a bit too thick, and normal paper is too flimsy.

Disney Pin Trading has spawned a lot of cool pin display/organization stuff. For example, here are some pages for a 3-ring-binder: http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Exclusive-Trading-3-Ring-Divider/dp/B00DTKMVR8

So I've been brainstorming ideas on how to display my collection. I like the idea of framing the official Pinny Arcade poster, but I had several minor issues with it:

    1. It only has spots for Penny Arcade pins.
    2. It has 7 pins per row, which seems like a weird number to me. Since each pin set is 4 pins, 8 pins per row seems like a more natural number.
    3. The poster is big, and there's quite a bit of empty space between the colored boxes.
    4. I think there could be a more logical order to where each pin should be on the poster.

Hence, I decided to try making my own version. The inspiration is entirely from the official poster, but I added boxes for the pins I have that are non-Penny Arcade. I also expanded each row to 8 pins, and narrowed the gaps between the boxes, which saves some wall space. I also arranged the pins in an order I thought would be more logical.

I got the poster printed on fabric, with the intention of mounting it onto a mat board and framing it. The printing sample of the year 2 poster just came today, and I think the colors look ok. Here's a picture of the poster with some pins randomly placed on it:
    6yvsyclqxcbr.jpg

I'm looking for general thoughts and comments, and potential suggestions on how this can be improved before finalizing the design. Love to hear from you guys!

Very cool! How/where did you get it printed on fabric?

Also, were there really only 58 pins (8x8 grid - 6 blanks) released in 2014? In my mind I thought there were more than that.

EDIT: Yeah, my quick count comes up with 89 2014 pins not counting killer instinct. With the KI stuff I get 94 total.

There's this website spoonflower.com where you can upload your design and they will get it printed for you on fabric. There's even a variety of different fabric types to choose from.

Yeah I don't collect everything. I just do Penny Arcade + Bandland folks + Magic. Though with the three interlocking pins I might do Moonrise this year as well.

The pages are actually felt with plastic backing; they're meant specifically for pin collections. There's also a clear plastic page between each felt page, so the pin backs from one never touch the faces of the next / also prevents dust. (Amazon Link to Binder)

edit - for the pins on the scarf, I used locking pin backs and kept the standard pin backs in a bag. The regular pin backs won't keep pins on the scarf (in my experience).

Yeah they're really good! I ordered a couple direct from the site (http://www.safepub.com/sections/pin-collecting-display) last year as Amazon wouldn't ship to me. Five full pages fit into the one binder and approx 25 pins a page.

They do look nice... after gn0x's post, I looked at some videos on youtube about the Disney pin collectors, and their albums.
A lot of theirs are just too crowded, like the pins are smooched together real close, and some didn't look good.
The way I'm wanting my pages to look... I may be spending more on the pages for the binder

Here are some of the pages I've set up for my scrapbook, they are a work in progress.

    They are rather Large Images so I'll just Link to the Imgur;
    Le's/Random and PAX 2013 Page
2013 Online sets and Pax 2014 Page (I like how the Look out set looks... despite the guy going sideways)
Staff Page and All my 3rd Party Pins
Killer Instinct Pins and Holiday pins

That's 8 pages, and I did just put all my 3rd party pins in the one spot, I want to have them either in years and PAX (So Prime 2013, and then Prime 2014, and East 2014) or in sets, Like All the MtG pins together, all the Video Game themed pins together, all of The Behemoth pins together. This is mostly due to Moonrise and their plan for that combining Pin thing.

one problem with the Binder... it doesn't look neat... it's kinda always in a 45 degree angle when sitting on a table.

I think in the future I want to use the PA posters either fully like @nefily and @qumaden @maywest or mostly like @fishfishmonkeyhat (best looking shadowbox in this thread!).

But for now, like many others I've acquired a couple of the pin collecting books to keep the collection from sitting in boxes :)

    yqo09ue2zbar.jpg

But also I was finding it difficult sorting my spares out. So I delved into the (seemingly) half a room that houses my trading cards, and pulled some slips and folders out and I think it works alright!

    gl5b874mdu4n.jpg

Can comfortably fit 5 pages (at 9) but could squeeze 6 pages I think without hurting anything. I have to make up some cover pages to slip in the front and some spines for better looks/identification. I tried to sort by PAX & Year. Pages and folders are cheap and it keeps everything organised and neat :)

Thinking back now, I could have bought the right slip colours to suit each PAX e.g.. Blue, Red, Yellow, Orange. Still might do that!

PS. Spare sets are just in the PA bag, they're easy enough to keep track of.

Sorry for potato quality photo, but FINALLY got our collection up yesterday.

Every pin, but the DLC. Penny-Arcade Pins on the left, and other publishers on the right.

    h41iuj23oisf.jpg

I will be able to fit this year's Merch, new boss pins, east core set, this years Christmas and Halloween In the box on the left....maybe a few other limited edition ones.

I kind of eye-balled the layout, so it's not perfect right now, but once the box is completely full, I'll align everything just so.

If you are sharp eyed, you can see that there is an empty shadow box to the right. It's the same size as the other pin publisher box. Probably starting that off at Prime this year.

Just need DLC (ha!) and working on a full set of cats for the missus to wear on her PAX Backpack. Only need a '13 kemper and cat guard, so that's almost done too.

Unfortunately I traded that pin away at PAX south, or I would definitely get some negotiations going with you 8-) People love that hearthstone pin (Brian told me at South that was his all-time favorite pin), but it's not up there with Leeroy or Hanna of the difficulty-to-acquire scale -- you should be able to snag one if you keep hunting.

Hello everyone. Michael's (at least my local store) is having a 30% off sale this Sunday and I thought it would be a great opportunity to grab some shadow boxes to get my pins framed up (finally), and I was wondering:

    1. For people who didn't buy padded frames, what did you use to pad your pins (or what did you use a backdrop). I can't see super well from the pictures posted in this thread.
    2. If someone could post a picture of the back of their frame, it would help me to plan out how to make mine the nicest looking possible.
    3. If anyone has extra patches from: PAX EAST 2013/2014, PAX AUS 2013/2014, or PAX South, I would happily pay a rather nice amount of money for them.

    Thank you guys so much,

    Dahamburgler was warned for this.
Hello again everyone (I hope I'm not posting too much!). My girlfriend and I, after exhaustive planning, spent a nice Friday evening in creating my first framed pin set. We used shadow boxes from Michael's, cut cork (backed with foam) to fit the frame's inset, and stretched fabric over the cork to protect the pins and make it look pretty! Most of the credit goes to her, but I was involved as much as she let me be!

Please let me know what you think,
