Does this cost anything to me? I sped up 2 of my friend's boats yesterday and it didn't mention any reason I shouldn't.
Yeah there's no way to reset or drop and retake a mission is there?
I've got a glitched assassin contract where you're supposed to chase his boat but he made it to a dock and got away.
And now nonstop in the main world map I have a red dot on the map saying kill that leads to nothing. But it's always there.
It almost even seems like he was there invisible on the dock like you bump into something moving around. but shooting up the place did not help.

Yeah I think shadowplay captures the last 10 mins by default? It goes up to 20. Or you can manually toggle recording with alt-F9 with a negligible framerate hit.
Tailing missions in a ship are pretty fun for me - I love having to be nimble with the Jackdaw, it reminds me of dinghy racing where you can jump up half a dozen places with a nifty buoy rounding.

Also I love all of the yelling of boat terms.
I quite liked them as well...except I noticed that edward will switch to whispering his boaty commands...at least in one of them which I thought was a nice touch.
Or is it shipy commands...damn Edward even gives an easy way to keep track and I've forgotten it...is it a boat could fit in a ship but not the other way round?
My problem with the boat tailing missions are they don't even turn off the lights on the ship! Come on, you are clearly visible right now! Extinguish those flames!

You keep a boat on a ship. It's a jolly boat / life boat, not a jolly ship / life ship.
While we're on the topic of terminology: I wish larboard was still used, but understand why it isn't.

seriously been singing this for days, my wife is gonna hate me soon.
It's weird - they seem to repeat like 5 of all shanties a lot more often than the other ones for some reason. Including Down to Cuba and Bully in the Alley.

You guys are so overblown and ridiculously melodramatic about AC3 you'd think it'd killed your first born child or something. This is why I stay away from hype the majority of the time. I see what it does to people. It's not pretty.
Instead of caring about that I suggest we all watch some of these ridiculously awesome one handed sword animations I captured.
Many Havana guards were horribly murdered to bring you these images.
So many.
HOW THE HELL do you have 450k Reales?
I've gotten to like 50-60k and then dumped it all on upgrades to various and sundry things.
I'm deliberately trying to get to a million reals. There is no reason for it other than wanting Edward to have a million reals.
Since I've finished buying and upgrading everything its possible to get, I still pirate like mad, I just sell every good. I hunt for rum and sugar now. It sells the best. Although when I say hunt I really mean "Oh hey that ship on the horizon on my way to this place with the collectible/assassin contract/templar hunt/x other thing has 225 rum! Let's go lads!"

Turns out Shady Buisness assassins's contract can become bugged across all systems and they haven't fixed it yet.....awesome.
Had this bug and got around it. Replay an earlier memory, I just redid that first island sequence, and when you get back the mission should be reset and beatable.
Why. Whose idea was it that the underwater sections needed sharks. They're fine as is, you need to manage your air and avoid obstacles while looking at the astonishing, well looking scenery and underwater life. Nope, gotta put some sharks in there and ruin the fun.
I dealt with all the underwater sections the same way: moving directly from one treasure to the next, picking up air barrels as needed. Completely ignore sharks and all other enemies. I never died anyway, and it was much less slow and stupid than trying to do it properly.
And I still only survived 8 shark attacks, and you need 10 for the challenge. Which is just... why do you need to fail at stealth to complete that challenge, and why is not being at all stealthy in all underwater sections not enough to unlock that challenge?
While I'm on that subject, bleh, the challenges have really lame rewards.

I don't understand why you can't use cheats like "Be always drunk" or "Always talk like a pirate" without losing your ability to save. Yeah, that's gonna give me a big advantage, better make sure I don't cheese achivements with it /sarcasm. And to top it off - I 100% missions as soon as possible. Meaning I'm never gonna replay this game, I'm gonna play it once and be done with it, so cheats are completely useless for me. Wish they implemented them better.

Cheats are for freeroam and cannot be used in missions.
You have failed to understand the meaning of "its own reward".
I am not sure you actually ever will based on your answer to be honest. You treat your 100% statistic as the only metric for what it is possible to get out of a game. Do you remember what fun even looks like if it doesn't have a percentage attached?
On the other hand, I think they're great, love them very much, and are happy they are there. I don't need to accomplish any goals with them, because I understand cheats are for play, not for achieving anything.

I don't think you understand at all what I said.
Once I've played through a mission, I've seen what happens. I don't have a reason to go back, no multiple choices, nada. Sure, I can use cheats in free roam, but again, saves disabled. So most stuff - doing assassinations, tackling forts, anything persistent is out of the question.
What's also important to note here is that I can enjoy simply screwing around with cheats in free roam - invincibility, changing weather. I'm just saying that stuff that doesn't give you an advantage should be useable at all times. And why the hell not?
Also, I've tackled the bottom right and bottom left legendaries. Liked those for the most part. How the heck are you supposed to beat the twins? Online guides tell me to "avoid getting sandwiched". Fair enough, sounds logical. How do? I can't outrun them, so even if I keep going right relativ to the one on the right, I'll get sandwiched again.
Once I've played through a mission, I've seen what happens. I don't have a reason to go back, no multiple choices, nada.
That's why I pointed out that they can't be used in missions. So now we can take this complaint about missions and we can toss it over the side because its irrelevant when discussion cheats. Clear?

Point me to a game that allows you to use cheats (even trivial ones) to accomplish anything persistent on a console in the last five years and I will allow that there is a special problem with this game that is not shared by any other.
What's also important to note here is that I can enjoy simply screwing around with cheats in free roam - invincibility, changing weather. I'm just saying that stuff that doesn't give you an advantage should be useable at all times. And why the hell not?
I can agree with this, but I will point out that going through content with spoken lines (and you don't know which ones are spoken and which ones are not) that are replaced with meaningless pirate phrases might annoy some people (and since some content cannot be repeated) can result in unforseen problems which they can really neatly sidestep just be turning off saving. What if you can't stop being drunk? What if it bugs out? You'll be stuck with it forever. Boy would that get annoying.
It's a simple solution that hurts nobody.
Really you should be complaining about the stupid multiplayer unlocks. Now they're a real lame unlock.

Chain shot. Spam the crap out of it, get behind one while doing so, spam it some more, ram them and mortar them while chain shotting.
You can cut one of them off when they try to circle you and by that I mean "get them within range of your chain shot".
Once you've got one locked down don't let it go. Once it is nearly dead, if you want to play it safe, you can hare off and do the same to the other one until they're both nearly dead, then sink one. The remaining one will go berserk and try to ram you and start firing aimed heavy shot at you etc, but you'll be able to sink it easily.
When I did it I just sank one and then sank the other. There was a serious amount of excitement packed into the second half of that sentence so I wouldn't necessarily say it was the wisest strategy.

This is why I stay away from hype the majority of the time. I see what it does to people. It's not pretty.
You are making irrational and highly inaccurate assumptions about my opinions and the forming thereof.
While I don't share this particular viewpoint, I still don't see why AC III seems to be the black sheep in terms of fan reception. Sure, it's a lot more buggy than other installments but other than that it not only continues the high quality trend but also adds new things and improvements.
The painfully dull protagonist maybe. At best he smoulders with minor annoyance at anything that occurs, it's boring. Then there's desmond who's become even more passive...and looking to the story to pick up the slack is kinda hopeless if you've played any of the others they're after yet another mcguffin.
There's a lot of potential between connor and haythem but at least imo it to kinda peters out.
That's pretty much ac3 in a nut shell for me "Meh"
Ah, I see. Okay, my response:
I'll just give you the modern stuff. I think it's kinda neat but I sure as hell wouldn't argue with anyone who thinks it's lame and boring.
As for the dull protagonist, Morninglord has said anything I've wanted to say. It's true that he display little to no emotion in stark contrast to Ezio Auditore; What made Connor interesting to me where his thoughts and actions, and while he showed emotion less often, when he did it felt more impactful. He felt a lot more relateable than Ezio who was more your standart "action hero" kind of protagonist.
As for the stuff between Connor and Haytham, partially agreed. What was there was good, but it kinda didn't go anywhere. They were trying to work out their issues and then Connor just kinda went "Well, I'm done with this." and became your traditional Assassin again - the kind that works like some kind of weird robot: "Aquire Templar target, then kill Templar target. Repeat until out of Templar targets." God forbit you question their or your own stance and try to understand or behave like anything other than a mindless serial-killer.
I really just didn't like the AC3 world. The environment just felt wrong somehow, but I'm not sure how. The cities were obvious... it was a lot harder to travel on rooftops across Boston or New York leaving you beating feet on the streets more often. But the open world was a bit less fun for whatever reason. Maybe because running around a forest just isn't as fun, whereas pirating around the ocean is a fucking blast.

I really miss the blending in AC3. I really wish it was in AC4. I go stand next to people and he does nothing. Connor and Haytham were so good at it. That's one thing I don't understand. Why is that missing?

Nails it for me. Part of what I love about AC games is the setting, and traversing the setting. The Frontier wasn't bad, but it was far too sparse in its distractions. Collectibles which were there for nothing more than a trophy, a few boring hunting missions, and a few semi interesting campfire missions. The cities, while nice looking, weren't fun at all to traverse. You couldn't stay on the rooftops for very long, which is a hallmark of the series, due to massively wide streets, very few 'joining' peices like lines, and guards who find it an affrond to God if both feet leave the ground.
In the cities, it wasn't very clear what to do - Liberation missions weren't explained particularly well, forts I don't even remember seeing a tooltip for which is odd considering they were a large part of the game, and city forts weren't introduced until pretty late.
Connor was dull, but he wasn't as outright terrible as he's made out to be. There were more problems with the game, but the big one is as above - areas weren't fun to traverse, and there was very little to do outside of the main story. Compared to Black Flag, where I'm utterly drowning in additional content, AC3 just feels half finished.

Instead, there is what can only be described as a hole in the ocean. A perfectly round, water on the walls, ship sized hole in the ocean
After a few moments, I see the figurehead of the Jackdaw breaching out of the water, followed by the rest of the ship. It looked a lot like this
Adewale is apparently a much better captain than me
