What's changed?
Sept 9th, 2015:

Nov 10th, 2014:
- Fixed "New Trade Offer" emails showing the wrong username in the body.
- Added initial support for PinMash.info ratings, currently available in the Pins gallery.

Nov 7th, 2014:
- For the security minded. The sites SSL certs were updated to be signed with SHA2 to comply with Google downgrading SHA1 certs to not receive a green padlock.

Nov 4th, 2014:
- Added feature that will show a message "X new messages" when a trade has chat activity. (full details)

- The site launched and all was well with the world.

Important Information

Old URLs will still work but please do update your profile links. You can find the new link on your Profile page.

If your country is not listed: Don't fake it! Select "European Union" and email help@pinnypals.com to request your country be added. I have kept it minimal on purpose, I don't want a giant country list, only where traders actually live.

The site now supports IE11+, Safari, Chrome and FireFox.

I originally planned to frame all my pins on a yearly basis. But after some thought I decided not to, it would take way too much room and there isn't a whole lot of wall space in my room that isn't already taken by a shelf or window.I have nothing for display so far, but I'm thinking about buying a small shadow box for the PA staff pins (and any related limited editions that I think would look cool with them).

If you are trying with IE, don't. It has issues handling the script. Firefox works ok.

I tried logging in a couple weeks ago, and even with a password reset still I couldn't log in.

I tried again today, and with yet another password reset, still couldn't get in. I did send an email back then, but I never got a response. I've sent another email today, but I thought I'd throw up a comment here in case my plea gets better seen here. I am using Firefox as well in case that helps.

While this is here I'll ask; Judging by all the people in the trading thread who just said offers had been sent to their spam folder, I have a question. When you sign up you get an email conformation right? If you get that, shouldn't other mails from the site not be filtered?

Or does everyone just dig it out of the spam folder because they're looking for it and then never check it again?

I have some emails from important stuff end up in my spam filter, it's annoying as shit.

It's possible that they are coming from different emails hence the spam filter kicks in...Though I don't really know, I didn't bother checking if those emails are the same from the site.

Just add those emails to your safe list and it shouldn't occur again (unless they decide to change the emails for handling those requests).

Yeah sorry, I can't afford to pay for a dedicated mail server and for the site I tend to rely on free services as much as I can.

The service I use should be validated and signed as legitimate but different providers will treat it how they will, obviously though scammers can abuse legitimate services too, so I don't really know how to make it less "spam filter triggering".

The best option is to white list the email 'auth.pinnypals@gmail.com', it's not ideal and soon it won't be as big a problem, as the emails will just be to notify you that you have a trade to review in your account.

as of right now, any activity to pinnypals.com should use an encrypted https connection. You will probably be logged out next time you visit the site.

You don't need to update your profile links, these should redirect even with "http" at the front. However, if you want too, feel free but you will be changing them again pretty soon

You can use this post if any problems occur, I have tested basic site functionality on Safari, Chrome and FireFox.

If anyone uses IE, sorry I don't actively support this browser in any version but there shouldn't be any major reason it doesn't work.

Its probably not that big a deal, but I now get a warning (from an addon, firefox) that the site is vunerable to the heatbleed SSL bug.

1. Make this the official PinnyPals site thread.

2. Have you thought about making someone's pins list to show ONLY the ones they are involved with (wanting/trading/collecting)? Or make someone's listing sortable? I'm not putting what ones I have collected on there. Only ones that I am wanting/have to trade. If someone goes to my page, it is A LOT of just "empty" pins. If you plan to keep up with this for each and every PAX/pin release, it is just going to be one giant wall of text that people potentially have to search through if they can't sort by wants/haves/etc.

2. I have thought about making those big icons at the top clickable and they toggle showing the pins with that attribute. I also would like to have a search field on every page with pins, that can filter them down in a range of ways, e.g. 'gabe pax:east year:2014'.

It just takes a long time to bring anything out due to time and I'm currently stuck in a spot where I don't want to make too many changes to the site as it is now before releasing the next major version, which comes with lots of improvements and the trading platform.

I should mention that while it's not in beta any more, that doesn't mean everything is set in stone.

The way trading works might be a success, it might not, I've worked on it blind and I will be open to feedback on improving the system if it doesn't seem right.

For those who have been actively trading on the forums, if you do the following:

Add me, yourself and the person you traded with to a message. Have both of you enter "ok" and your pinnypals username if it is different to your forum handle. I'll add the feedback to your accounts.

You only get 1pt per unique trader for this system, otherwise it gets a bit silly but it will help get some early trusted users up and running.

Yo, I am trying to setup a trade, but I can't seem to remove the offer I added. I should have gone to the pins tab and done it through "free form", but I only found out about this later. So there's currently a pin offer meant for a specific person which I can't remove. I've tried hitting "remove offer", and it says "Looks like stuff's changed, refresh!" or whatever, and I do, but it stays there.

HHAHA...well played @frostbite. I don't think it was a bug so much as us not reading the trade thing right. When we tried to go back and remove the trade there was just no edit button. Unless there is more going on that was the problem i had.

If you go to My Trades, you can remove trades from there.

The Trading Post, you're putting that offer up for any one to accept.

If you want to send out an offer to a specific person, do it as normal from the Pins gallery or their profile page. These trades will also show up in your My Trades. Everything to do with trades will.

If i have multiple pins i'd be willing to trade for one pin, should i make seperate offers for each pin i'd trade for, or will people see it as "i would trade ONE OF THESE pins for this pin"

You should make separate trades, the offers read exactly as they're presented, "x FOR y".

In the future their will be support for "negotiable" trades but that's down the line We can also introduce other keywords, "FOR ANY OF", "FOR ONE OF" etc. I was waiting to see the type of feedback I got.

more feedback: with only 2 active posts allowed at a time, makes it hard to offer several different options for one pin, another reason why a "x for one for y z a b c" option would be good

Yeah I can see the need now for those sorts of trade options, I'll think about how to implement it

The 2 active limit is just for now, as you get more positive feedback your limit will increase as a reward. It's just to prevent brand new accounts for abusing the system.

So it seems I was the first person to offer an open trade on the trading post (yay!).

Question: I have the same offer as the one on the trading post sent to an individual user, but it only seems to be showing the public offer under the "My Trades" section. Shouldn't it list the offer to another user there somewhere?
