I'd thought SSDs were supposed to be incredibly fast but my one (a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB) is anything but. This is a fresh install (fully updated) and its taking over two minutes to boot. I'd think that was a slow time on an HDD, let alone an SSD.
Have I missed something? Was there something I was supposed to do when I installed Windows that I didn't know about? I'm quite disappointed and very confused.
EDIT: Just installed the latest version of the the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver Software and it now takes about 5 seconds. Weird. Oh well, here's hoping it stays that way!
Is it fast for everything except boot? If you have regular old BIOS I'm not sure what can be done other than skipping the hardware check and setting the SSD as the only boot device. If you have a newer motherboard with UEFI you can set up the UEFI partition on the drive for fast booting
