I had a really good Daily run today, which by all accounts should not have happened.
A run-in with the Shopkeeper while a ghost was approaching somehow left me alive. I must have been blessed by Kali.
I got all the way to Hell, even beat Yama but didn't get through the exit door before dying.
Note to self: Don't put two sticky bombs close to one another.
I missed out on the 100k bonus but still pleased.
I edited my video down to about a minute just to show the good bits.
OK, I'm now trying to switch from keyboard to a 360 controller for this game.
If you feel that you can beat someone that is constantly throwing bombs when he is trying to pick up rocks (I mean even more than I usually do) then you might want to send me a friend request on Steam.

Mostly an uneventful run today. Pulled in a decent enough score but died by my own stupidity.
I knew playing over a pit of lava with a plasma cannon was probably going to get me killed, yet I proceeded to do it anyway.
Edited my run down to just some highlights as it was 50 minutes, mostly spent ghosting what I could.
So I just died to the teleporter in the daily. Not how you would think, though.
In 3-4 of the Jan 31 daily, there is a crate beside a vault. I cracked open the crate to find that there was a teleporter inside. Me being the wise Spelunker that I am decide I want nothing to do with it, so I leave it behind. However, I do want in the vault, so I leave a bomb there to crack it open, and I use my jetpack to take off across the map to explore. I can no longer see the vault, when suddenly the teleporter I had shrewdly left behind came flying across the screen to hit me in the head. I bounced around a bit and then fell into the abyss. It was so funny I couldn't even be mad.

But hey, in better news...
Finally beat Olmec! Probably could have gotten the Big Money achievement had I done some ghost running, but oh well. I guess that between this version and the XBLA version, I've beaten the game twice out of about 700 times played.
Day 29:
This was a really good run. I was really happy with it up to the point of my death, which was a bit more heartbreaking than my other ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKTvHBQupxQ
I had a pretty good 2014-01-30 Daily Challenge run, though I guess it wasn't particularly noteworthy. I did manage to make it to the City of Gold, which I hadn't gotten to in quite a long time. http://youtu.be/VJo4bkg67uM
My 2014-01-31 run was nearly as good, and if it weren't for a lapse in attention at the end, I would have reached the City of Gold in consecutive Daily Challenges. http://youtu.be/6U9SfWydOOQ
Can we get some streaming/recording info in the OP? I kind of want to start recording mine later.
Got to hell in the daily, thought I'd be smart and blow up some spike traps, one hit the right angle to propel straight into Meat Boys face and turn him into pulp as the bomb blew.

I use OBS and record to a file. Then either upload it entirely to Youtube or edit it down with Freemake and then upload.
Freemake lets me snips parts of the video easily and join them together with a fade transition.
For setting up OBS I Add a new scene called Spelunky. Then add a new source for that scene targeted at Game Capture.
Run Spelunky, switch back to OBS and right click on the scene source and choose properties.
I get a dropdown list to select the target application I want to capture. Any time I run OBS from then on I just select the scene and source before playing Spelunky
As for encoding settings in OBS, I have mine on CBR between 1000Kb/s and 3000kb/s depending on quality I want, and I resolution downscale to 720p with Bilinear 30fps
You can set hotkey bindings in the broadcast page of settings so when you are in game you can just toggle when the start and stop capturing.
If you're just looking to get started with Spelunky recording without thinking about it too much, just follow Twitch's guidelines for setting up OBS. That'll get you a very usable baseline for recording, and also you are then basically all set up to stream if you wanted to try that out.
This'll get you recordings that will stream well and also look acceptably decent on the youtubes.
Sigh. Just did the new daily, but got too close to a shopkeeper when I tried to shoot him (1-2 has a shotgun in the store). I forgot that if you are too close, it aggros him but doesnt actually hit him. Blergh.

And this will be my final recorded Spelunky run for at least a week. I'm going on a trip. Bringing my laptop and I *might* have access to a 360 controller, but who knows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_E9RkQvr4j0
I made it pretty far, but it was still kind of a mess of a run. Some weird stuff happened with a dead hireling and one of those bounce tiles in the caves. And what a horribly dumb death.
I just screwed up way worse on the daily than I had done in a while. I hit the very first arrow trap and then at the bottom of level 1, I ram my face into the same skeleton two times. The run lasted just over 30 seconds.

I'm visiting my fiancee this week, but I was happy to find that Spelunky ran flawlessly on my laptop. She also has a 360 controller, and I transferred my save to my dropbox, so I was able to pick up right where I left off. I won't be recording my dailies, but I'll still do them when I can. I had an awesome run today, and would have been better had I not lost my ankh by shotgun-recoiling myself into a tiki trap. Then I made a miscalculation while dealing with an exit-guarding shopkeeper in the temple.
I had such a terrible run in that daily. In 1-2 I overshot an edge and fell directly onto some spikes. It felt like I had never played Spelunky before.
I decided to rob the shopkeeper in 1-2 with the jump whip method, but the spring boots in the shop totally messed up the bounce.
At least I'll know for next time.
I really need to be more careful about mobs and other effects that can anger shopkeepers. I was about to clear out some space to rob the black market but decided, hey lets take out that exploding frog first, not thinking about how close it was to the shops. Oops.
I'm slowly learning not to take the idol (or gold statue or whatever) due to the inevitable angered Kali and shopkeepers. But like I said, slowly.

The idol in the mines is almost never worth it. It is only valued at 5000, will destroy anything it hits (this includes keys/chests), and is pretty much guaranteed to anger kali, even if there is no altar on the level. The only time it makes sense is if you've cleared the entire level, or if you can sacrifice or sell it before the boulder drops. I just ignore it and carry on my merry way.
Also, I have no idea how you guys try to play this game without robbing the shopkeeper the first chance you get. The game gets so much more interesting once you start robbing them, and the black market isn't a big deal (I would make a video explaining how I do it, but I'm on my crummy laptop in a hotel right now and I don't think it could handle it).
I learned a method where you bomb out the upper left side so that the top level shop keepers fall down and hopefully manage to kill themselves there. Seeps to work pretty well from what I've watched on GiantBomb's streams.
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
You can simply toss a rope up the wall directly beside the shop and sit on it until at least one shopkeeper falls below (you don't even need to bomb it out, you can just wait). If you can't see the other shopkeeper from the top level, you can hop onto the floor and shoot blindly to the side. You will either kill the shopkeeper, or he has fallen below. Then you can go all the way to the right and climb on the ladder directly to the right of the second level, throwing bombs down to where the ankh is. Once you kill that shopkeeper, you can jump down and get the ankh, then come up and clear out the shops, always firing blindly until you are confident that the shopkeepers are gone or dead. I'll try and make a video of how I do it once I'm home.
Day 31: Got a shotty from the graveyard stage and decided to go man mode in the black market, killing everything instead of doing the normal purchases. Had a pretty good run up until the last section of the tundra area. I died to the shop keeper guarding the door. Next time, I'm just going to chuck bombs down there and let him kill himself in the abyss.
Day 32: I didn't get to the black market due to running out of bombs. Additionally, in 2-4, i was listening to the super bowl game in the background and got distracted by it. This caused me to get hit by a tiki trap, with the spikes ejecting me into a small 2 tile hole which had tiki traps on both sides. Rediculous. I'll have to post the death highlight of it.

I played co-op with my fiancee tonight. We made it to the Haunted Castle, which she did not know about. To my surprise, the Black Market entrance was also hidden in that level. She had just died, so when I opened the coffin that normally held the Van Helsing character, she popped out instead. I grabbed the shield and we moved on to the black market.
I told her to wait in one specific spot while I piss off the shopkeepers, then I jumped onto the same ledge as her and crushed her with the shield. Whoops!
Woo! Finally made it to the Ice Caves for the first time! And then promptly died to the Yeti King. Further investigation is required.

And just now I made it to Hell for the first time! And after getting the amulet from Vlad, I dropped down into a pit and mistimed my burst from my jetpack....which led me to fall on some spikes.
That was also my best score ever. I managed to do some ghost running of 2 vaults and I would have had a third, but I was on the ice caves when I triggered a mine and accidentally hung onto the ledge the mine was on. At least I had the ankh, and at least it was the level with the Moai head, but I was still pretty pissed.
Poor run today. Got killed by the shopkeeper opening the vault in the Jungle.
Was their a vault in the mines in today's daily? I can't remember seeing one and when I killed all shopkeepers in each level the music returned to normal.

Just awful.
Yeah, I think I had a few close calls with spikes in that run.

1-30-2014:
I totally thought I could make that jump. Too bad the water was full of piranhas and Ol' Bitey.
I'm going on a trip next week. I'm bringing my laptop, which can probably run Spelunky, but I doubt I'll be recording any runs I'm able to do.

I blame the hour of speedrun attempts I did just before I played the daily.

I'm still far too slow at beating Olmec. I need to work on that.
Edit: I just noticed that the hired hand that followed me into the Ice Caves nearly blew my head off at the start of 3-2 !
This went pretty rough. Going through the jungle stage with no lights and 1 health was terrifying:
