It's really slow in a VM, and right now, it looks largely to just be a basic Debian install with Steam in Big Picture Mode running on it. None of the real fun stuff seems to be there yet.
I haven't looked at it yet and have never used Linux so I'm not really understanding why they released it right now. I read that it can't stream a game from a windows PC to it yet, and someone in this thread earlier said that you can't dual boot it with windows yet either. It just seems like a really small percentage of users who would have a gaming ready PC and would have no problems permanently (well without having to completely reinstall it) removing and windows functionality.
The Linux community is insane for this sort of thing. There are people in that community who are dissecting this OS as we speak. I wouldn't be surprised to see SteamOS running on a Speak & Spell before the month is out.
But yeah, this isn't for us so to speak. This is a real deal beta. I can't wait to see what happens with it though.
Regarding the charity stuff, can you ship any item from Amazon to a Child's Play supported hospital or must it come from their wish list?
Is there a thread here that describes how it is done?

I think they only want to use wishlists, so they can be sure the things are approriate both content wise and in a hospital environment. Fairly sure there used to be a Childs Play subforum but I guess not at the moment.

Did you guys see this new game on Steam called Teslagrad?
Very pretty game. I downloaded the demo just now, and unfortunately got stuck just a few screens in. I got to a room with these blocks that wouldn't budge. It felt like I was missing an item to allow me to move them, but I don't think I could have missed anything at that point. Oh well, I'll give it another try later.
Starforge has finally been patched and now resembles a game a bit.
The ship teleports me from the ship to the ship, about 75% of the time it fails me every time. Was interesting when I did manage to explore the surface, definitely promising.

Beat the stock campaign for Shadowrun....wish I had realized that the healing spells only undo the last attack. Not enough decking for my tastes, especially the final run, but overall, a blast to play. All sorts of depth to the story, it was on rails but there were bits letting me know where the rail was heading and I felt smart for picking up on that. Its called foreshadowing and its spectacular.
I'm ambivalent about the final choice, though. Do I really wish I could have shot them out, or do I really wish I could have shot her?
Started playing Inquisitor today.
That is...certainly a game I've played. I don't know if I want to call it terrible or pretty cool. I mean I know I want to find the dude who designed the combat and slap him in the face, but other than that the game has left me confused over if I like it just fine or utterly despise it.
I guess that's kind of an accomplishment.

update: figured out I could crawl up some ivy on a wall, which allowed me to get my first item. Game seems neat, although I would feel more comfortable using a controller. The store page lists both "partial controller support" and "full controller support" which is kind of weird. I can set each action to a button on my 360 controller, but I was just checking out the game quickly and didn't feel like configuring everything.

To locate and use the wishlists, you can go to the "Donate" section on the Child's Play website, and see a map with participating hospitals. If you click on one, it'll give you a link to that hospital's wishlist. If you want to use Amazon Smile, just replace the "www.amazon" with "smile.amazon" and it should work.
I see that the Steam version of Saints Row The Third has some achievements that the 360 version didn't. Specifically, completing all activities in co-op and completing all missions in co-op.
I suppose most people have long ago moved onto Saints Row IV, eh?

As a mere pawn for @Malakius to get those cheevos with, I would encourage anyone willing to do so to make yourself avaialble to @DarkPrimus on this.

Don't have time but have money? Don't have money but have time?
This is where you come in: I will pledge $2 per hour, per player for a game of IronGrip: Warlords
I wish I had more to give, but alas, I am not a rich man. As far as I could figure this was a good way to get some action going and get some PA Shenanigans on.
Well, you can donate and post some proof here for the fabulous people doing all the accounting. Pledge for some hours of play or come play if you don't have money. The more people playing the more money you'll help donate to kids in need. Even if you go color blind for a few hours* after. Think about how awesome the colors will look the next day, like brand new eyes seeing the world for the first time.
When will this go down? Saturday Decemeber 14, 8:30ish PST/9:30ish MST/10:30ish CST/11:30 EST and whatever Future Space Time!
Minimum of 2 hours of play for me, and @Banzai5150 is also in as well. We'll be getting a stream of it on. Banzai has that covered. I also will be attempting to set up streaming this week. That is $8 as the minimum donated already, Sign up today!
I also have 2 copies of this game to give away. If you can attend and don't have the game, this will be a first come first serve basis. AND FOR THE ONE AND ONLY TIME, I MAY EVEN TAKE RUSSIAN SPIES, YOU HEARD ME, FOR THE CHILDREN. The game is under 1GB if I remember correctly.
So, queue it up, and be ready for some craptastical graphics, Tower Defense/FPS, muddy looking models/levels, and a starter weapon that may as well be a sling-shot with foam balls as ammo.
If you want to donate publicly, please feel free. if you want it to be private send a PM. If you want to confirm you will be coming, please do so (I would like to get an idea if anyone is going to join in)
Fine Print:
*participants/players/and viewers cannot be promised color blindness will go away.
*Russian Spies may or may not be valid participants.
*I will probably hit my max around 3 hours as this game is well, technically a game, but if people are still rocking, I will endure. At 3 hours of 8 people that is $48, if people are able to/be convinced to join in.
*prices subject to change depending on attendance (increase only). I will give more than just $8 if no one is interested.
Iron Grip Warlord has 8 player co-op? Sounds rad. I'll try to check out the stream if I'm still awake by then. Got up early today to do some manual labor, and there's a snowfall I'll probably have to take care of when I get home. These are things that might prevent me from volunteering and pming @broncbuster for a copy of the game. But I'm sure you're in good hands.
Yes, you can set the server size. I doubt we'll go over 8 though. Hit me up an hour before and see how you're doing.
Also, still have this stuff if anyone wants it otherwise. I'll go find some unwashed masses on the ol internet to take them.
I have, free to a good home, the following:

I remember playing Iron Grip Warlord during a past sale in order to get one of those event achievements (I think it was something like "get all the upgrades during a single game").
The game didn't like my video card very much and I was unable to see the enemies. I could only see their weapons. I ended up fighting waves of levitating firearms, but even so I was able to unlock the cheevo.
7 Days to Die seems to be what would happen if Fallout and Minecraft had babies and then named Harvest Moon as a Godparent. When it is out of alpha I will buy it SO HARD.

My only regret is not buying it when it was cheap during Summer Dale. Because apparently it is never going to be on sale again.

Looks interesting... but the recommended requirements having a dual core 4GHz processor can't be accurate, can it?

Also, Wednesday evening has overtaken Sunday evening as the preferred time for my Long Live the Queen stream. You can still vote here for a time, if you care about when it happens! I'll probably give it until tomorrow afternoon before I close the poll and pick the time.
Now, somewhere on here I saw a way to nicely give away amazon/humble bundle keys as well. Or is that also done through the steamgifts portal some how?
