i feel like it's a rite of passage, and this means i will at least put it to use. but i have heard the same, yes. i just hadn't committed to getting the second one, so i'd just always put it off.

once you get used to the god-awful voice acting and the combat, which isn't really bad but just odd, then Witcher 1 is a good game. At least for as long as you can tolerate running backwards and forwards through the same areas over and over again.

I actually never finished it, for that reason, I just go so sick of running around and quit right before the end. But underneath that is a great story and writing and there's a lot of fun to be had.

I got through less than 10 minutes of the combat in that game before I uninstalled it.

This was me with Witcher 2.

I don't mind difficult combat or controls that take some getting used to, but the game has to give me a chance to get used to the difficult combat and controls. Making the first encounter kick your ass unless you're instantly a master is just poor design.

It wasn't any fun to play and none of the characters seemed interesting.

The voice acting in Witcher 1 ranged from okay to comically bad (werewolf) . The combat was very flawed, there were very few reasons to actually explore the depth they put into it. However the questy-bits were quite expansive and they created a pretty decent sense of atmosphere.

Witcher 2's combat was a lot more direct. but Geralt still feels very sluggish compared to say, Batman from Arkham Asylum. The production quality of pretty much everything else has gone up, and they take the branching nature of the Witcher even further.

As for the character - Geralt as a stereotype is really bland, but the world set up in the Witcher puts him into some interesting scenarios where the character can become more complex. There are a couple of sidequests that involve you simply hanging out with friends or Geralt considering starting a family, that stuff turns his gruff-amensiac-badass cliche on its head.

    That's not strictly true
Miranda is the only person who can be assigned to their specialist task while disloyal without getting herself or someone else killed, but you can still get her killed in a few ways: by sending her into the vents, or by having her guide the crew back to the ship or come with you to fight the final boss if she's not loyal. Depending on who you have holding the line at the ship, you can have a couple disloyal people holding out and still not get any casualties. You could have not-loyal Miranda holding out with loyal Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed and not get anyone killed, as long as you took the relatively squishier characters like Mordin and Tali to the boss fight.

Hey, do you guys want Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death?

You're damn right you do, read this description from Steam.
A new breed of WARRIOR returns, committed to destroying the enemies of FREEDOM
When ONE angry man, has a world to protect - There is only ONE future – HIS OWN

No-nonsense hero Marlow never shied away from danger or trouble. But now he faces his ULTIMATE challenge. After crash-landing in Central America, he has an industrial evil to defeat whilst bound to an ancient Mayan Death Mask who’s had no-one to talk to for 2000 years. Another day at the office only this time Marlow is PUSHED TO THE LIMIT , his sweetheart has been abducted, the bad guys are making up their own rules and only one man can judge them – and EXECUTE THE SENTENCE .

Fearlessly fighting through Mayan temples and towering valleys, monstrous machinery, nothing, but nothing, will stand in the way of this bad ass warrior, his girl and the crushing of all opposition.

They told him to go to HELL, he was DEAD ready.

With cliffhanger over the top action and cinematic gameplay, Marlow Briggs takes inspiration from the best of blockbuster films, comic book heroes, and action games with its focus on relentless high-octane combat, exotic and danger filled environments and epic set pieces.

    • Fight the enemies of FREEDOM with stacks of awesome combos and magic abilities,
    • Single handedly destroy HUNDREDS of enemies
    • Deploy MIGHTY weapons of destruction
    • Leap out of HUGE EXPLOSIONS in slow motion
    • Reveal the DEADLY secrets of the Mayans
    • Save the ENTIRE planet

I didn't like, edit that or anything. That is how they decided to market this game. Someone got paid to write that.

Here is a GAMEPLAY video from TWO Best Friends Play.

I have TWO copies of this game. If you think you've GOT WHAT IT TAKES to step into Marlow's SHOES, then feel free to STEP UP to the challenge.

My Zaeed is disloyal too. Because fuck him and fuck leaving those people to burn in a fire he deliberately started.

He always dies in my ME2 games. But he's a dick so I don't really mind.

I'd certainly get a lot more done around here.

The best part about this is that my rule of thumb for a game is that I get enough playtime out of it that the ration breaks down to $1 per hour.

I just didn't realize how on track I was for it.

I have spent roughly 4.5% of the last 8 years playing video games.

That... actually doesn't sound all that bad.
