    Hilariously, if you
use her as the biotic specialist somebody else dies.

    She is such a bitch.

    I was sooooooooooooo annoyed.

    used jack every time

    because BIOTIC GOD

I did not get on well with Jack my first couple play throughs.

I used Samara the first time, because I wasn't an enormous fan of Miranda the first run through either.

I completed Bioshock Infinite. Oh man, that ending.

Now I feel like I need to read some kind of analysis as to why I shouldn't love the game, because right now I kinda do.

The only thing that bugs me greatly is (end of game spoiler you guys)
If Booker and Comstock are the same person, it makes all the racist caricatures feel worse? Because it's not just the villain being villainous, it's another version of you, or at least your avatar. I get that it's a version that found he could get away with shit, while Booker is a version that feels really shitty for the stuff he'd done, but still.

I do think the jingoism and racism was mainly in there as a smokescreen for the real story, to play up to the players expectation of a Bioshock game dealing with A Heavy Subject. Which it did, just not the one you thought when you started the game. So they were perhaps a bit heavy-handed with those themes before the dimension-hopping took over the plot.

Related note, you'd think that Slate would have recognised Comstock as his old war buddy, especially when he started takin credit for leading the charge at Wounded Knee. He certainly recognised you.

    ...

Unless he did recognise Comstock, and mistook you for him.

    Maaaaaan.

So yeah, I thought it was superb.

    Also

    http://youtu.be/RBZdwfp4LtQ
Probably never met or spoke to Comstock in person, so just going by the propaganda posters and the big-ass beard he never put two and two together. I just beat the game last week myself - cracked me up when I realized Comstock wasn't lying at all about being at Wounded Knee.

    You guys both understand that
exposure to the various machines and experiments for dimensional gateways prematurely aged Comstock
    right?

It wasn't just a case of
plantation owner beard. I'm not saying you don't look anything like yourself as you get older, but one of the "problems" with that age difference is that, if you're searching your mind for a guy that would be of equivalent age, probably with a giant beard... so he would have expected Comstock to be, what, in his 40s at best during Wounded Knee?

I'm not saying that particular... alteration isn't completely for misdirection and convenience's sake, which it totally is, but it's a pretty consistent and believable contrivance.

They mention it at the end of the game, when they finally stop jerking you around and tell you everything.

I caught that, but I guess I just assumed that
even if he had been aged prematurely, the effect wasn't that pronounced. I mean I recognise people I haven't seen for 15 years every now and then, and there's always just something about them that is instantly recognisable and makes you cast your memories back.

But I suppose extreme aging, a different name and 20+ years of personality changes is enough to make someone unrecognisable.

Still, you'd expect that maybe it would come up at some point, especially when they start talking about Wounded Knee.

    I'm probably overthinking this.

My old keyboard is old and worn, so I'm looking to get a new one for my GA trip.

I prefer not spending too much on anything fancy, just whatever gets the job done and maybe has a few beneficial keys for gaming. I could never find a wireless keyboard with good wireless range, so I don't mind sticking to wired.

OK, I need to actually play some games that I own instead of randomly buying new ones.

    Here is my short list:

    Bioshock Infinite
    Gone Home
    Sleeping Dogs
    Mark of the Ninja
    Dragon Age

    Oh, that reminds me.

Sleeping dogs is free on the Xbox if you have a gold account right now.

It was worth downloading for seeing that there is a slider which actually lets you change the size of your character's ass

Dragon Age is a huge game with a ton of side quests. I put about 80-90 hours into it, and loved it all. It's pretty much the definition of a sprawling RPG, though.

Bioshock Infinite is pretty excellent, and much more straightforward, playwise.

I intentionally don't know anything about Gone Home, but it's on my shortlist of games to play next due to the ungodly amount of positive comments it's acrued.

Should be the shorter stuff first: Gone Home and Mark of the Ninja, then either of the remaining two.

    No keyboard recommendations, anyone?

Mark of the ninja is quite good. I didn't get near finishing it but I love it when I do play it.

As for keyboards, I haven't looked at them in 4 years when I got my Logitech GSomething. It has blue backlight and the screen at the top. I like it and it hasn't ever given me problems.

That's a shame, but maybe not such a surprise. It was noticeably old-school even when it came out.

DA2 has excellent writing and a great combat system that nevertheless does start to get old due to the repetition of assets.

    The first dragon age was...mmm.

Let's just say once I realized you could freeze bosses I basically couldn't get rid of Morrigan and I couldn't avoid cheesing the game on its hardest fights.

I had a really weird bug in Dragon age last night.
I started the witherfang encounter, got elf dude down to 1hp, he went NPC again, taking to him started the entire conversation again except with the tip of a wolf's head instead of a green lady

My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)

Both dragon age 1 and 2 own.

In their separate and special ways.

But if you're not a fan of bioware combat engines then yeah you probably won't enjoy 1.
