    Love the third panel. Begging for continuity on this one.

    I thought the accepted knowledge was that just after Christmas was the best time to play, because the servers are suddenly flooded with noobs.

    Eh, depends on the game.

    I had a blast with the Mass Effect 3 MP more than a year after its initial release, in part due to the awesome PA folks I was playing with.

    Edit: Although that was co-op MP instead of player vs player.

    Normally yes. Christmas is a time when new players would receive their copy of CoD.

    This time around, however, existing, skilled players that are still stuck with a 360 will be awaiting their new consoles instead. The learning curve will be non-existent for them.

    This is pretty accurate, it's like a turkey shoot right now playing COD on Xbox One. I am surprised at the number of people that waited until the One came out to get the game, given that you could get it on both systems for $70.

    Calgon is the brand name of several different products. The bath & beauty Calgon products used to uses the slogan "Calgon, take me away!".

    I'm pretty sure the 3rd panel is the first depiction of "2013 Gabe" that I actually like. Excellent work.

    In the context of the newspost, Tycho is using "calgonned" to mean "taken away".

    It's also used as a joke in one of my favorite Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes, Space Mutiny. The villain from that movie is named Kalgan but is pronounced the same way, which leads to some amusing riffs when he shoots people (Kalgan, blow me away!).

    In the meta sense of that panel expressing the pure essence of Gabe (to extinguish joy in others), then yes, I think you are right. <grin>
