I suppose a tablet would work fine too. Whatever I can get for cheap to futz around with BF4 stuff, and browse the forums here. Getting tired of posting from my phone.

Can we expect to see premium ever go on sale? With the tightened squad mechanics, this game has a lot more potential longevity for me than BF3 did, so I'm pretty interested in picking up the rest of the expansion packs.

Well, I finally got some 100% and 200% bonuses on the last day of the double XP!

I gained eleven levels in one day and compared to four days ago I have about ten percent more playtime and half again as many points. Stacking boosts is powerful stuff.

Logged in and played some BF4 last nite for the first time in a month; the game is now quite stable for me once again. Is this the result of the China DLC I wonder ?

Also, Silk Road, oh no, another Tanks In The Desert map. How I hate those.

    Sweet!

I used a 100% boost last night, but only played for around 20 minutes before quitting in frustration. If I have a few 25%s as well, can I stack them ontop of the 100%? Is that what you mean by boost stacks? Because that would be awesome.

I've gotten a few exp boosts from my battlepacks, been saving them up for when the game was actually playable for me. Jumped on today, decided it was time. Go to activate them, none of them are there. Do they expire or something?

Ah, sorry. I was referring to stacking a (singular) XP boost on top of the double XP bonus for the premium event. So using a 100% XP boost during a double XP weekend = a 200% XP boost in a match.

I know bf3s premium went on sale at one point that was fairly late in its life cycle though last spring I believe.

I have seen mine disappear sometimes. They came back, but I'm unsure what triggered it.

It wasn't just the DLC. DICE has been working tirelessly over the past two months to release a constant stream of patches. Quite frankly, I'm impressed with how fast they're churning them out.

    So, this happened:

Nailed a DV-15 at obscene range with my SRAW, getting a multi-kill. Turned around, looked up and fired one at the scout helo above and...
Got shot in the back. However, I got a kill four seconds later. The rocket had followed the laser dead into the ground where my wire was now pointing and smashed directly into my killer, doing a perfect U-turn 100ft up.

I picked up Premium from GreenManGaming about a week or two after release for $40. I'm sure EA will be running sales at some point, but don't forget to keep an eye open elsewhere for 3rd party sales.

Welcome to what I've been bitching about from launch till now, helicopters take it on the chin and considering IGLA's ignore flares they take it twice as bad.

Yeah, I feel really bad for choppers right now. Balance is kind of screwy. On the one hand, it seems like one dude with an Igla can ultra-fuck choppers - they're basically free points, and that's not fun. On the other, I really disliked BF3 how one dude really couldn't do anything against a competent chopper pilot. Perhaps the Igla should gets it damage component nerfed and keep the mobility kill - a reliable hit that suppresses choppers more than outright kills them - and keep the damage and tone way down the chance for a mobility kill on the stinger.

Alternatively, the reload times on AA missiles could stand to be lengthened, or their ammo amount toned down. Even before I learned I could re-acquire a lock with the Igla (derpderp), I was able to take down choppers really easily because I could just reload the second I saw countermeasures and have another rocket zooming at it in a few seconds, oftentimes before it even had a chance to dive into cover. I don't have to be judicious and pick my shots carefully, because I have something like five freakin' rockets. I could whiff over half my ammo and still stand a good chance of downing a chopper with a well-timed mobility kill.

Quick question: does the last level of the Indirect Fire perk tree for supports resupply people in the same vehicle? Like, could a scout helo with engineers on the sides and a support in the Useless Seat refill rockets expended by the engineers? It might get a little dull for the support but that could be devastating on some maps.

  • JuggernutJuggernut Registered User regular
There are a few problems with the mobility kill on attack choppers: I like to fly low and hit infantry targets and buildings and what not. But all it takes is one hit and I go full speed into the dirt. No chance to recover whatsoever. So to make sure you have a chance to survive a mobility kill you have to stay high which opens you up to MAA and any half competent jet pilot. Both of which can shred an AT chopper with minimal effort.

I'd like to see below radar come back so I can at least have some respite from the constant AA. Even if they keep the mobility kills and way too long counter measure reloads I'd have some kind of chance to scoot before I got wasted.

That said I feel like the weapons on attack helis are pretty spot on. Rockets can hurt tanks and infantry alike if you've got the aim and the gunner seat feels pretty powerful. Compared to BF3 where you had a better chance of killing an enemy with a kamikaze run than any of the weapons. I just wish I could stay in the air for more than 30 seconds before getting rolled over.

I would like to echo this sentiment. I have fired my IGLA plenty of times, gotten a number of those "Mobility kill" notices, but I have not actually killed anybody nor destroyed any aircraft with one. Of course, I've also nailed a Little Bird with a tank's HE shell (complete with getting the hit indicator) and having the Little Bird fly off and showing no indication of taking any actual damage (this happens on servers with <40ms ping, too)...so I'm just starting to think that AA is just not for me.

When I'm on a chopper, it's not too hard to face a single guy using an IGLA/Stinger, however as soon as they fire the first rocket, I need get out of range ASAP, otherwise he will be able to land two more rockets with impunity and kill me.

But if it's two or more people with AA? Completely fucked, unless I have people repairing me, which is why the attack chopper is so weak now. It's the slowest moving chopper and the least survivable.

If you crash after getting mobility killed I don't think it actually counts as a kill. You just get a killed in action screen.

The chopper I fear the most now is the little bird. I like this change because I thought the little bird was almost pointless in BF3. Now that thing can wreak havoc. When I see the attack chopper I'm just kinda meh. I play a lot of engineer and blow the shit out of a lot of choppers. A decent little bird pilot with two engineers can survive a lot of damage. Earlier tonight on Golmud Shiashi and Acidboogie kept me up over A and B even after we went down once and crashed into a rock. Don't know how we didn't blow to shit on that rock, but we made it.

I'm really glad I've tried learning how to fly this time around. I'm not nearly as good at the bigger choppers as I am the z-11 but man that littlebird. That thing is just the definition of fun. I wish i had one in real life. We're still playing scrublords get on the DOAM! It is 9PM on friday night. Are you killing salty bitches who be ANGRY?

Can't be arsed to work to unlock all the same stuff I only unlocked from BF3 a matter of months ago.

Way too much like a job than a game.

Too expensive, the season pass seems contrived, the menu systems suck, the apps are crap and the controls counter-intuitive.

In fact, this game almost makes me long for a 'pay X to unlock all the shit' option. Any game that conjures such wilful dismissal and fosters such a sense of forced labour just ain't worth the hard drive space.

Instead of lock-on AA engineers should inexplicably carry around big fuck-off Bofors guns. As an engineer and poser-pilot I would rather that than deal with flares on either side.
