What's BF3's expansion population like these days? My friend and I are considering picking up all the DLC, but if most of the population is just playing vanilla from the free promotion and the expansions are sparser turf, it might be better to just invest in BF4 instead, assuming that's finally mostly fixed up. Thoughts?

I've actually found the map a bit poorly designed. Its like its too big for walking, yet far too small for using cars/ bikes. You seem to have so little health and spawn points literally could have you being shot in the back for insta kill.
I do like the counterstrike style money upgrading system though.
I tried to watch that after the BFFs video. It's just as retarded as it sounds. I get that it's trying to be ironically bad, but it's just bad. Like 12 year old sperglord youtube streamer bad.

I think you are going to find a combination of hardcore BF3 players who don't want to switch to BF4 and new people getting a free game.
In my experience with 3, the Vanilla maps were easily the most popular with Metro being a scourge on mankind.
Even around the times of release for the BF3 DLC the maps that weren't Vanilla weren't used a ton unless the DLC was still kinda fresh.
Hopefully a PC player can give you an actual thumbs up or down though.

finally actually unparked my cores last night. Suddenly went from "may as well spot them so SWIM can kill them" in every single face to face firefight to "omg I can actually kill the people I try to shoot at".
Odd since back when everyone was talking about core unparking I looked at some guide that told how to tell if your cores are unparked and it looked like they were.
I only went from 98% on every core to like 88% on every core but I no longer get frame skip stutter type problems when things are happening on screen.

You really don't need to make changes to your registry to disable core parking. You can update those settings in real time with Windows' Power Settings. High performance should have it disabled by default. You can always check the setting by going into the advanced power options under "processor power management." It should be set to 100% for min and max.

Also anyone who is running an AMD card 78XX/79XX/2XX check the Gaming Evolved App for an update, they just rolled out an update that changed the UI completely and more importantly added a "Game DVR" or basically a Shadowplay for AMD cards.
It is something the community has been asking for since BF3, but this whole CTE thing has honestly really started to show genuine interest in addressing issues in the game.
Next CTE update will bring a "Hud Clutter Reduction During ADS"
I also was schooled, the CTE is almost completely DICE LA and not DICE Sweden, there is a little support from Sweden but almost every improvement we've seen has been from DICE LA.

My biggest thing with HUD/Other elements in BF4 is when there is an objective behind whoever I'm in a firefight with and all I see is a a bright blue/red [ B ] or something and can't see the enemy worth a shit.

No the latest Origin update is causing a fairly massive false positive wave to go through and quite a few people are being banned incorrectly.
Gotcha, they should reword the banner then. A recent PB ban makes me think me. Unwarranted PB bans would make me think system error on a larger scale.
