Starsiege: Tribes (usually called Tribes or Tribes 1) is a sci-fi first-person shooter (FPS) computer game. It is the first of the Tribes video game series and follows the story from Earthsiege and Starsiege. It was developed by Dynamix and published by the company now known as Sierra Entertainment in 1998.

Tribes was one of the first online-only games of its kind and sported several multiplayer features that other games have only recently included (32+ player support, 128 players max, troop transport vehicles, several different player classes). Most of the standard maps were outdoors in a variety of climates, from sunshine to snow and hail. In general, bases were scattered throughout the map depending on the gametype. The outdoor environments were and still are relatively huge extending for several kilometers in any direction, but "jetting" and "skiing" gave Tribes a fast-paced feel.

Recently I began playing Tribes with the guys over at Platformers due to it being freeware and the need for PURE AWESOME AM I RIGHT GUYS? But yeah I decided to extend the invitation over to you awesome G&T duders, because if there's one game that's good online, it's Tribes.

Basically there are three classes: light, medium and heavy. Light armor can use the sniper rifle, but can be taken out by a can of tomato soup. Heavies can use the destructive mortars, but are slow as shit. Mediums are right in the middle.

There are a variety of weapons, some such as the blaster and laser rifle which are tied to your jet-pack energy bar, and some that are ammo related. On top of weapons you also can pick up packs such as repair packs, which can be used to not only heal yourself and allies, but to repair destroyed base equipment.

Bases play a huge part in this game. Take out the enemy radar and solar power on the roof and the enemy loses some of its tactical advantage. Take out their main generators and their inventory/resupply stations go down, and their turrets stop working. Note: Turrets are the death of you. You will not avoid them at close range, you will not be able to take down their shields without a mortar gun if the generators are up. They are death incarnate. Learn to avoid them.

Jet packing is key, so is skiing, and using the spinfusor to get an extra jump is sometimes worth half your life bar.

The Master Server we will be utilizing is t1m1.masters.dynamix.com:28000 (this is the default US master server).*

At the moment were running a dedicated server ghetto style off my own computer, details:

Name: Platforumers
Password: Fuzzy (case sensitive!)

Optionally we also have our own vent if you want to play with us, but i'll let you dig for it as I don't want to sound like a shill.

If we can get a more stable dedicated up and running we can switch to that. So far we aren't running with any mods but that can change depending on people's opinions.

GAME ON!
