Out of all the stages, the balloon fight stage really makes me excited.
Can you believe that we will be playing this game by the summer!?!? (I know it's not the WiiU version yet, but still, we'll know the entire roster by that point!)
I hope there are characters that don't unlock unless the game syncs with a WiiU version.
Just so there can be a few more surprise reveals later on while still honoring the "same roster" promise.

Yeah, I can see the backlash for that already...

I hope not, where will I find a Wii U? Nowhere! Because no one has one hahahaaa haaaaa
I wonder what event matches there will be this time, I know they're just quick throwaways, but I've always liked them.
Perhaps a match where you play as Peach against a horde of Greninja. Beating them gets you a trophy of 8-bit Peach and Mario or something. Get it? Princess and the Frog. Yeah.

There will be a backlash no matter what they do differently in the WiiU version, and a bigger backlash if they don't do anything differently.

Well, I think there will be backlash if players are required to pay more in order to unlock content that is in a copy of the game they already bought. Either that or hunt down a friend with a Wii U.

Yep thats why pokemon flopped
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
Its going to be something like Mario golf with its transferrable characters . Maybe some sort of trophy exchange.
I seriously doubt Sakurai of all people would deny players a "full" experience so even if that were the case you could probably get them by playing 7000 matches or beating Cruel for Wiiu mode

Yeah, we'll probably just connect the games to transfer custom movesets and levels.
I am curious what Smash 3DS will have for Street Pass features.

Coins and stickers I bet. Assuming stickers come back. I am 100% sure that a certian number of steps in a day will unlock Wiifit trainer if she's not on the default roster

I'm curious how many characters we've seen so far are on the default roster. I bet Sonic and Mega Man are unlockable, but I'd be surprised if characters like Luigi and Toon Link are there from the start.

Oh my god now I want that to be the only way to unlock the trainers
Watching this analysis, a few things I didn't notice the first time around.
1. Balloon Fight stage wraps around, no left/right boundary.
2. Balloon Fight has Balloons icon. Find Mii has a crown icon.
A lot of weird speculation created by the Direct.
Interesting video. I do think he goes a bit far with the speculation on some of that (i.e. the flippers in the Balloon Fight stage just seem like poor/WIP collision detection), but there were a lot of little things I didn't notice.
A replay mode would be a good explanation for the first person Punch-out! stuff (I had originally assumed it was like how you could pause the game and change the camera angle in other Smash Bros games, but that only accounts for screenshots, not video)
Feels a bit glossed over, but the idea of having a Final Destination version of each map is actually quite cool, I was quite surprised by that. For me at least, it did get kind of tiring seeing the same level/music over and over, this helps break things up quite a bit if you just want to have a straight all-out fight.
One of the things that Smash does well though are backgrounds. It's actually kinda fun to just start some levels to see what you can find going on the background. One of the more interesting finds is on Rainbow Cruise in Melee, there's this little random house all by itself on the background mountain:
I was really intrigued by the fact that one of the FDs looked like Soul Calibur, and unlike any game Nintendo's ever released...
Yeah, I could see them doing one Soul Calibur fighter, consisting Link has guest starred in that series before . Wonder who they would pick though - that game has a large roster. I assume someone who has been in a bunch of them and has an iconic appearance.

If there weren't enough sword fighters, Sigfried.
Ivy's out unless she puts on clothes, as are a few others.

Yeah, I was thinking they probably would avoid characters like Ivy and Sophitia :P I think Voldo might work tho? He's been in every one, has a pretty unique weapon (for Smash Bros anyways), looks pretty iconic "Soul Calibur"...
I kind of suspect they would want to avoid characters like Siegfried since that's pretty much the same as any Fire Emblem guy they would pick.
Mitsurugi seems like the standout fighter of the Soul Calibur series. If it were Yoshimitsu though this would be a third fighting game series appearance for him and we could have Yoshimitsu VS Yoshi.

If there is a soul calibur character and it's not Ivy valentine, I hope that her sword-flail at least makes it in as an item just because it's so damn awesome.
Though I'd still prefer to have Ivy herself, perhaps in one of her courtly outfits if the clothing issue is a problem. Not just because she's always my main in SC but because that sword-flail would make for an interesting moveset if done right.
Although… there really aren't any polearm fighters in Smash, are there? Huh…. That's a thing that SC could bring; a character with reach but less power really close in.

There was a Final Destination stage that featured an enormous sun and planet in the background, and the stage itself was split into a crystalline version and a corrupted, organizc, apocalypse-like side. It very much looks like how the Soul Edge/Soul Calibur are depicted.

Im just gonna point out Ivy has a formal dueling outfit thats pretty tame. Cant recall if it made it out of SC2 though

I'm guessing you're talking about the one that is being displayed starting at 9:30, during the "for glory" description.
To me, this seems like the regular form of FD, doing the whole space/dimension trip thing
I agreed until the analysis GameExplain put out that mentioned it. Even when I was watching the direct originally, I was thinking "Man, that's some pretty damned heavy corruption..." And SCII on the Gamecube was an INCREDIBLY popular Namco game -- I think the only other one that came close was F-zero (Namco worked on AX, the game was a partnership between Nintendo, Sega, and Namco)
Nah, Namco is involved. I don't think we'll have Kilik in Smash or anything, but Namco wanting to decorate the underside of Final Destination with some big, dumb crystals and tentacles I'll put at "maybe".

I dont hate his current one but I wouldnt mind say something new since he still doesnt have a good down special.
Maybe Flying mario from galaxy 1. Cool as that was itd be a crime to never see it again
I want to say we've seen mario use mario finale in a trailer, but I haven't found which one

Some of these might make Fludd a bit better but only in Friend play so its not like thatll do you much good.
It also made Kirby breath ice. So elemental properties too.
