Oh god, if that version of the game gets canned I can only imagine the fresh wave of Nintendoom.
When did Nintendoom officially begin? Last I'd heard it was doing well in the Wii era. No one would shut up about how it "won" last gen in terms of sales. I get the feeling that was premature?

I wouldn't read too much into it yet. It was only delisted from a single region of Gamestop and nowhere else. Chances are it's just a mistake.
The WiiU is in bad enough shape that I could see the WiiU version getting canned. Even if it's basically just a port of the 360 version (which, I believe, would be the one that would be the most similar to the WiiU hardware), making it would still cost a fair chunk of change. A potential market of a few millions on the WiiU versus the combined sales potential of the 360/PS3, Xbone/PS4, and PC sales can't look that appealing; depending on the cost of porting the game, Ubisoft writing off the WiiU as a target for what they seem to be building up for their next big-hit franchise isn't at all unreasonable.
That game was supposed to already be out by now, I imagine that most of the costs for a port are sunk by now.

Yeah, if they were gonna cancel it, it would have probably been done about 6 months ago.

Was the WiiU port meant for simultaneous release? Because if it was announced for a later date than everything else, that's the biggest thing I could see that would make cancelling the WiiU version a real possibility.
But yeah, if it's supposed to be out the same time as everywhere else, this would be a stupidly late point to cancel it. Just a plain waste of money; even if the WiiU version really didn't turn a profit, less loss is still better than ditching the whole project at this point.

And I believe there's even been video of the Wii U build out there, I remember it because everyone was talking about how awful it looked.

Somewhere between 1989 and 1991 when Sega brought the Mega Drive/Genesis to the market and was the first real competition to Nintendo's monopoly on the market.
If the discs aren't printed, there's still plenty of money left to spend on the game, and if they don't think they're going to make that back it makes sense to cancel.

Can't have an install base without third party software, and can't have third party software without an install base. I don't see a way out of this one for Nintendo.
NWU AC4 outsold the PC in December because my wife bought me a copy. Sorry about that, but my copy shouldn't count. It is still in the plastic wrap because I need to finish TW101, Mario 3D, and Swap Force, but you know... DOOOOOM!

Not sure that anecdotal evidence trumps sales numbers, but there's a first time for everything.

It actually probably didn't since those are NPD retail numbers and don't count Steam sales. So the WiiU sold more copies than PC boxed copies (is this even a thing anywhere?)
I mean, those numbers to Ubisoft aren't just "eh we hoped for it do better, but it's still ok", they are complate nuclear disaster numbers. And it's not isolated to AC4. ZombieU (50k), Splinter Cell (5K), Rayman did ok but still only sold roughly 80K. I wouldn't doubt for a second that the WiiU version of Watch Dogs is cancelled, I predicted it back when they delayed it in October. I give them credit for trying to keep support going but at some point they have to throw their hands up and say "porting these games isn't working out".
Just Dance is the lone shining star and is likely the only Ubisoft game we are going to see on WiiU for years to come.
Would be a shame if true. I was going to get Watch_Dogs on the WiiU if only for the Gamepad usage. If it gets canned I'll just pick it up on PC.
I won't be picking it up at all, which isn't a terribly big deal, as I wouldn't have been buying it at launch for full price, and I'm sure Ubisoft wouldn't like that anyway.
Frankly at this point I'm not buying a Playstation 4, Xbox One, or PC. If a developer doesn't publish a game on the Wii U or 3DS, it may as well not exist as far as I'm concerned.

An invitation, which you can see below, reads: "Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest."
The PS Vita Slim is already available in Japan, and is 20 percent thinner than the existing model, as well as being 15 percent lighter. It does away with the OLED screen for a 5-inch LCD display, which helps the battery to supposedly last up to an hour longer. The Japanese one is available in six different colours too, though we've yet to see if that's replicated in the west.
Of course the announcement could be about something else entirely, but the Vita Slim seems to be the sensible option, especially given the new appeal the handheld has thanks to the PS4's remote play functionality. Having only just launched the PS4, it's exceedingly unlikely that Sony would announced a slim version of the console right now as they traditionally come some way into the console's life-cycle. Seeing as we've already had the PS3 Slim and the PS3 Super Slim, it seems unlikely we're about to encounter the PS3 Super, Super Slim.
Hm. I can't imagine something being smaller than the current Vita. As it is now I can't find a way to comfortably hold the thing without basically touching the back touchpad, which makes many games that use it nearly impossible to not screw up in.

Completely agree except I have a PC added into the mix. Frankly, I could even get by with just my 3DS - the library is insane.
With that said, I kind of want a Vita.

I tend to agree. Any time a company goes with the 'no comment' route, that might as well be a confirmation. Sucks for those with only WiiUs that wanted to play it.
Seems strange to cancel it so late into development though.

Unfortunately you're in the minority in that.
Yeah, it's unfortunate, but dems the breaks when you're trying to curb your spending habits.

I bring it up because it looks like there's some major cost-cutting going on in that thing besides the enslimening, such as swapping the OLED screen for an LED one. Though Engadget liked the end result overall.

If the price is right, I might actually get one. I mainly want a Vita as a portable PS1.

Meh, I use my PSP Go hooked up to my TV for that. :P
Which actually reminds me that I need to get back into it. There's about a dozen Playstation games that I've never played before that I've been meaning to purchase.

They actually reduced the size of the back touch pad with the new model, probably for that exact reason.

Oh cool. Glad to hear that they fixed that!
My mammoth hands also made the original 3DS uncomfortable to hold, but the 3DSXL is perfect. The Vita is less so, but I still enjoy it.

At this point it almost doesn't matter if every WiiU owner buys a given game - there aren't enough WiiUs to make it profitable, are there?
Pretty sure there are . Theres a couple million Wiius out there not 3

Dreadful.
Here's some confirmed numbers from GAF, you can make some decent projections that it never got better than the 6200 copies it sold in its first month.

Also, TIL that Lynda Carter was Azura in Skyrim.
Great, so the fragment of a sentence I hear before I press A to skip to the next line will be spoken by somebody I recognise!
You know who also uses big names to try and sell films? Hitler Dreamworks. Domn't be Dreamworks, Bethesda - unless it's How to Train your Dragon.
Bethesda always spends huge money on voice actors for their games though.
You know its bad when they hire Liam Neeson and Sean Bean, two of the best death actors in Hollywood.
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
