This question is important. I had to go back and read it again after a while, because it seemed I almost had an answer, but it made me realize something about myself. I have a very firm and hard conversion rate in my head for gems-to-dollars, but I have no on-the-fly conversion for gold-to-gems-(and-thus-dollars).
If you tell me something costs 400gems I know instantly that that costs $5 US, and I can easily tell if I want it or not. If you tell me something costs 40gold (or another random number), I have no direct association with real world value, just in-game value. I can tell you if I'd pay 40gold for Thing X, but I couldn't tell you if I'd spend dollars on it. (If that makes sense.)

"Waypoints and markers visible on maps different from the player’s current map are now always displayed as uncontested. When teleporting to a waypoint on a different map, if that waypoint is contested in the destination map copy, the player will be redirected to the nearest uncontested waypoint."
So, in other news, they released new hair and eye colors for the hairstyle/makeover kits. You can now have Pink hair, and green hair, and pink eyes (that may or may not be a sign of pinkeye)... and lime green eyes so light/pale, on some faces it's a replacement for the Wraith Masque.

I'm currently running a lazy mans s/f condition build on my 50 elementalist.
Just sit in earth spamming 1 and strafing sideways. If things are too close I magnetic.
If things are too tough I obsidian.
Technically I could be using that glyph which makes my earth spam cripple but, eh. Too lazy to press buttons. Easier to just strafe most of the time.
It's not the fastest killer but it is very efficient.
BTW guys I ltp'd the Thief shortbow.
So, like, if you stick the cursor in the middle of your screen, with aoe settings on 2, and then just right click and point, whenever you press an aoe attack it will be centered in the middle of the screen.
So I now run little circles around squads of mobs blowing them to hell.
It's pretty neat. I'm a fan.

also, when you have AoE set to 2 or 3, clicking the aoe on the hotbar (or having the cursor on any part of the UI when you press the key AFAIK) will set the target to right at your feet, with pretty much zero travel time. Not too much use in most situations, but with the thief shortbow being a blast finisher that you can spam thanks to the initiative mechanic, it is a wonderful trick for group play when you can blast another profession's water or fire field several times in just a few seconds, especially since it reduces the risk of hitting it again mid flight by accident, as the second attack in the "chain" for that shortbow skill isn't a blast finisher.

That will not work with shortbow 2. It will fire off and then instant cluster bomb halfway.
It has a secondary effect mid air.
Foefaller: I don't believe I have ever clicked a hotbar for an attack in an mmo in my entire life.
The only thing I've ever put on hotbars and clicked are extremely situational buffs or things like teleport to home and stuff like that. Things I don't care about.

Well, like I said, I think you just have to have your mouse button over some part of the UI when you press the key for it to work, but I know it will work like that if you click the hotbar.

I got some yellows from the pvp vendors when I hit 30. Specifically a yellow sword and pistol, to see what all the fuss is about.
Basically, I wasn't spamming pistol whip enough before. This thing evades forever. Wtf isn't this evade listed in the tool tip.
Incidentally the new shortbow 3 animation is bugged to high hell. Cast it at something while running away from it and it zig zags in place back and forth so you don't end up going anywhere.
Idiots.
Just tested that UI thing. It works on any UI element. Quest, menu top left, chat bar, minimap, "Press F to do x" green popup in the middle of the screen, hero screen, inventory.
It does not work if you are holding down right click. Then it just goes wherever the cursor was when you started holding right click. It basically treats it as if the UI element isn't there anymore. So you can't use it while circle strafing something.

It's almost a running gag the things that don't show up on skill facts. Like how Engi kit damage is affected by the highest-rarity weapon you have equipped, or how Elixir Gun 5 removes a condition on the first pulse.
So for wvw we went to bazinga in red BL - it was just me and HamHamJ, and I dc'ed about an hour in anyway.
Here's the thing: right now my connection is just not reliable. It's not my router - I'm now hooked directly into the modem with an ethernet cable. My internet just every so often cuts out entirely for a couple hours, and it's unpredictable - I don't know when it's gonna happen, though it's between 6-10 pm PST or so most of the time. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Time Warner came over a couple days ago and it was working, so they're like "looks like your internet is fine, have a nice day!"
But I don't think I can command when I'm DC'ing this often, and there's no immediate solution in sight. We're gonna get Time Warner over again this coming week, but I don't have high hopes that they're gonna do anything or that they even give a shit. So I have to suspend WvW for the time being, sorry... I'm gonna keep working on this though. Sorry everyone!

I've had the same problem with TWC: If it's happening during peak times, then it's probably because TWC is rerouting your signal in order to deal with traffic, and I think it gets lost >_< Unplugging and replugging my modem usually fixed it pretty quickly for me, though with a 50/50 chance of it happening again within a half hour or so. I don't have the problem anymore, but it did stop around the same time Google started installing their fiber network nearby... I'm getting mine in the next month or two.
It's an extreme measure, but I've heard some people fixing their connection issues by setting up a VPN with themselves and GW2, though in all of the cases I remember, it was for downloading the game, not playing it, so I don't know if it will help with your problem.

having not played in quite some time, I logged in and got reacquainted with the game by doing all the Queen's Gauntlet fights (and then doing them over again with various gambits). Not the easiest way to get back into the game, but that was some of the most fun I've had with it. Tinkering with my build for different fights and learning each one. Was much tougher since I hadn't played in a while and was quite rusty with the setup.
I also got a Monocle drop from it my first go around, which is awesome. That thing sells for a bunch, but I'd also kind of like to keep it. Decisions!

edit: if it's any consolation, my two main classes are heavy armor classes, and it's a "medium armor" monocle.
Frei, I'm more than fairly certain that unlocking the skin will unlock the other two classes as well, but I could be wrong. Either way, that is some legendary luck you have to get it on your first bag!
