Does venomoth have the stats to be used in competitive battles? Can learn solar beam, poison stab against fairies and quiver dance is usually thought highly of (I think.) I really have no idea what the metagame is around the competitive scene.
Early game insects are pretty sub-par as a rule, but it does learn Quiver Dance, Sleep Powder and Baton Pass. So you can still do some fun things with it.
Got one bred, though I am willing to concede to Buster since I responded later. I know Litejedi has breloom in friend safari and has posted rather recently in here. Phantump seems pretty common in safari but none on my list are online. Also have two whismurs from people who I don't think play pokemon....

So you can heart scale back the lost egg moves right. I didnt know that part.
EDIT: also go show a poke with the correct dance move to Tieno or whatever his name is at coumarine City and you get a heartscale

Meh. A few hours of breeding/wonder trade got me up to 14000 miles from like 200.
Id rather just buy some heartscales in bulk and be done with it its not like anything on there is going away

Tyrunt. Amaura has 4x weakness to Fighting-type moves, which are very common.
Fighting,steel, stiff breezes, and ground too. Its only real utility will be as a weather lead when they release its hidden ability as refrigerate is largely useless on special ice types
