Three new moves have been discovered through hacking X and Y. The first one appears to be an event-exclusive move in the vein of Celebrate, the second two may have something to do with Zygarde.
It has also been discovered through hacking that Hoopa’s Ability is Magician and its stats are 80/110/60/150/130/70. Volcanion’s ability is Water Absorb and its stats are 80/110/120/130/90/70.
Hold Hands, Normal-type, Special, Power: –, Accuracy –, PP: 40
The user and an ally hold hands. This makes them very happy.
Thousand Arrows, Ground-type, Physical, Power: 90, Accuracy: 100, PP: 10
This move also hits opposing Pokemon that are in the air. Those Pokemon are knocked down to the ground.
Thousand Waves, Ground-type, Physical, Power: 90, Accuracy: 100, PP: 10
The user attacks with a wave that crawls along the ground. Those hit can’t flee from battle.
Wow, those grounds moves are REALLY good. I think the loss of 10 power is enough compensation for an earthquake that can't be hard-countered, or one that doubles as a Mean Look.
This pretty much confirms at least version exclusive formes for Ztgrade in xz/yz

I found a shiny Scraggy last night while horde training my Flabebe.
I was weighing "catch a shiny" against "have to get Atk EVs off my Flabebe" until I realized I could switch to Flabebe, let them kill it, and then kill off the normal ones and catch the shiny.
It's a good thing my pokerus-carrier knew Vital Throw because without a guaranteed-hit move it would have taken ages to hit through Sand Attack four times...
(It still took a while, though, so I ended up having him in my party past midnight. I think I might be out of contagious pokerus guys. Oops.)

I've played a lot more of White 2. A few thoughts:
- Why are all the gym badges so tall and thin in this game?
- This is my first time using an Amoonguss, and I think I might breed one in X. It can use Toxic to whittle down the opponent's health, Clear Smog to eliminate status buffs, Giga Drain to deal damage and heal, and Synthesis to heal some more. The Effect Spore ability coupled with a Rocky Helmet makes things even more fun.
- This is also my first time using an Altaria, Mienshao, and Eelektross. Natural Cure (Altaria) and Regenerator (Mienshao) are neat abilities, and Eelektross' combination of the Levitate ability and access to Thunder Wave and Volt Switch make it a pretty unique Pokémon mechanically.
- I don't remember fighting any Triple or Rotation battles in Pokémon X's story mode, but White 2 features them pretty often. A lot of opponent trainers also hand over items (usually berries) after battles.
- I had looked up where to find a Tympole and was excited to get to the Moors of Icirrus only for the game to have me jump on a plane and fly to the opposite side of the map. Bummer.
- I didn't expect to have legendary Pokémon constantly throwing themselves at me. Virizion in particular even jumps off a cliff to land in the middle of the road directly in front of you. Unfortunately, I'm not gonna bother catching them until I've gotten Synchronize Pokémon with the right natures.
- For some reason it really bothers me that the dragon-type gym features statues of mythological Asian dragons and not dragon Pokémon. Speaking of that, why are there no Pokémon based on Asian dragons yet? I guess Rayquaza kind of counts...
- The battle against Drayden (the dragon-type gym leader) ended up being pretty memorable. His Haxorus tore through several of my Pokémon, but I was able to use Eelektross to paralyze it and give Emboar the speed advantage. Emboar picked-up speed with Flame Charge to outpace a Dragon Dance boost from Haxorus, and after a couple of Take Down attacks my starter Pokémon won me the badge.
- "Welcome to Shopping Mall 9! It's called that because we're located on Route 9. An easy way to remember the name is to think - 'Am I done shopping? Nein!'"
- Speaking of the mall, the TM selection was really disappointing. I was expecting to find TMs for Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, and other staple moves, but only Hyper Beam and Giga Impact were available!
- I was amused to discover that, despite being an intruder, no one in Team Plasma apparently has a problem with my character taking a nap in their air ship's barracks.
- It was a bit of a surprise having everything suddenly go dark when the Shadow Triad ambushed my character on Team Plasma's frigate. I thought my 3DS had shut-off for a second.
- People in this game sure do like to talk about things that happened two years ago. I guess nothing else interesting ever happened before or since.

How should one train a Gible? I'm assuming Attack would be a big one but don't what other stat to focus on. HP? Speed?
Garchomp is bulky enough that you could do some stuff with his HP if you wanted to run bulky, but I think generally your best move is to run speed. Probably depends on whether you are going to run MegaChomp or not.
Pretty much, yeah. Tear through shit before it can tear through you seems to be the name of the game.
Taking a quick look at smogon, you can see a few relevant things: 192 EVs in HP will give you 101 subs, if you want to run substitute. For Mega Chomp, positive nature 240 Speed EVs to outspeed positive base 90, non-positive 164 to outspeed neutral base 80. Use those sets with caution, as they were formed more by speculation and calculation than actual trials.
If you are running a normal chomp, 252Atk/252Spe Jolly/Adamant will serve you more than adequately. Garchomp is a monster under any circumstances, really.
Well, seeing as this thread is kind of dead at the moment, anyone want to talk about ways currently-underperforming Pokémon could be changed to make them more viable?
Vespiquen has three signature moves: Heal Order (heals by half total HP), Defend Order (increases Defense and Special Defense), and Attack Order (90 base power, 100% accurate). All three of these moves are pretty good, but Vespiquen's only chance at staying in action is to use stalling moves to protect against her weaknesses. What if, however, she could use her signature moves without having to sacrifice her more protective moves?
My ideal solution would be to give Vespiquen a mega evolution that increases her bulk and gives her a unique ability that I call Standing Order, the idea being that once Mega Vespiquen uses one of her signature "x Order" moves it automatically repeats at the end of her next turn. This means she could, for example, choose an Order one turn and Substitute on the next, after which the previous Order is automatically used once more (giving her a free attack, defend boost, or dose of healing).
Does anyone here play monotype? I threw a team together to play with my friend and I thought this was a cool battle. (Ignore the chat, we're annoying assholes.)

Also, I don't think I ever mentioned it, but I bred up some Adamant Drain Punch Timburr a few weeks ago in case anyone would be interested in that, too.
As for Vespiquen, in order to be a viable defensive Pokemon, something will need to be done about Stealth Rock and/or its 4x Rock weakness. Entering play with half of your bulk gone is terrible. Giving it an ability like Magic Guard, perhaps renaming it as Honey Guard or Drone Guard if you want it to seem special, that prevents entry hazard damage would do wonders for it.
I've spent some time watching grass grow. Weeds can either appear or disappear at the transition between growth-stages. They're apparently rerolled every time, not persisting until manually removed.
It happens with a white flash and some rising sparkles, in case you were wondering.
Can someone explain how this screenshot can exist?
(Heavy Slam is a physical move, Burn cuts your Attack in half. That second Heavy Slam should have dealt less damage.)
I've gone over the Bulbapedia articles for Heavy Slam and Burn and didn't see anything that would explain it. My opponent offered the possible explanation of "the damage is based off of an external variable" which could be the case, but I'm doubtful because the target's relative weight only affects Heavy Slam's base power. Is it possible that it's just a Showdown bug? The whole replay is here, for reference. It's also a really cool battle that I had anyway, so you should watch it regardless.

I'd rather have Stealth Rock nerfed, ideally. It and a few other moves have too big of an impact on the metagame (in that they single-handedly make many Pokémon unviable).
I'm still annoyed that Gamefreak made physical Greninja inferior to the special variety. I just don't get why. Did they somehow think its physical moveset was good enough that they needed to make its attack stat lower than its special attack stat for balance reasons? Why can't it learn Swords Dance?
As for why, it is probably because you can do more interesting things with Doubles by having multiple Pokemon interacting on field, spread damage, moves like Protect become viable and interesting options, and flat-out stalling is less viable.
I understand why Greninja is more specially offensive, because they are going for a magical ninja style Pokemon. But he also has enough attack to go mixed if he needs to; he is a surprise Pokemon. What I don't understand is Samurott. There is little reason, thematically, for a samurai Pokemon that is all about using his shells as swords to have a higher special attack. They both unfortunately have their signature moves based on their lower attack stat, which is just awkward.
I do too, thematically. In practice it lacks coverage against common threats and just can't hit hard enough to make-up for its fragility (nor does it have a way to easily boost its attack power).
Anyone else playing in the April Friendly? I jumped in today after a few days of being busy and wringing my hands about whether my team was prepared, selected it thinking it would be doubles because I didn't read the rules properly and realize it was singles, and now I am just cleaning up. It is intimidating to see things like Mega Mewtwo and Xerneas rolling around, but thus far I haven't actually had a problem taking them on.
This is the first time I've wandered outside the battle maison for post-game XY, so it is very thrilling but also every battle is nerve-wracking.
So I'm playing in the pokemon showdown random teams and I'm destroying people. I don't think I have lost yet. And the closest I have gotten is 2 pokes left. Any of you guys mess around with this? And am I just playing in the noob mode? I will eventually make a team for regular battles but for now I'm enjoying the pub stomps.

I think I might have an easier time accepting special attacking Greninja if its animations for Hydro Pump and Ice Beam were it throwing a giant water or ice shuriken instead of the normal animation.
As it stands I'm still stubbornly trying to find a way to make my physical Greninja work. Shadow Sneak is handy, and Rock Slide can OHKO Mega Charizard Y (Talonflame, too, provided you have a Focus Band equipped to survive Brave Bird). U-Turn is also pretty nice.
There's not many other decent options, though. Special Greninja just has more coverage and greater offensive strength to handle common threats. Even if physical Greninja were to get Ice Punch via move tutor it still wouldn't pack the wallop that special Greninja's Ice Beam does.
This was a cool battle. Every single member of my team played an important role, with the exception of the one who the team is built around.
I mispredicted a Metal Claw on turn 7, assuming the Lucario was Choiced. The actual move, Aura Sphere, did significant damage to Aggron. Later, he eats an Earthquake I was hoping he could live and rest back up.
Overall, though, I like the teamwork in this one. I mean, I was the one telling them what to do, but I like to imagine that I wasn't and they were just working as a team :P

This is just because of Dragonite's Multiscale. It halved the damage of your first attack.
Thinking about it a bit more, the only real advantages that physical Greninja has over special Greninja is that the latter has a pretty standard set with no priority moves while the former has a bit more variety and access to two priority moves.
Special Greninja
- Hydro Pump/Surf
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse
- U-Turn/Hidden Power Fire/Extrasensory/Grass Knot/Spikes
If I were a particularly lucky person I might put King's Rock on Greninja and hope for constant flinching, but I'm not, so I've got Focus Sash on mine.
