Generation 3 is the only one I've never played, so I'm pretty excited.
However, considering that the "Strange Souvenir" tourist guy in X/Y says something about a brand new region, and that advert is talking about a "new world", part of me is expecting some sort of weird hybrid between a Gen 3 remake and a new game.

I'm still waiting for Pokemon to absorb the roguelike elements of DQM. It seems like a fairly obvious fit. DQ9 style grottos, at the very least.
I am excited for the games and will definitely buy them, but I do hope that the rate of release slows down for Pokemon in the future. I feel like one game every two years is the sweet spot, for me.
I realize that the fact that I buy every game regardless only encourages Game Freak to do this.

It's due to the three most plentiful things in Hoenn: Trumpets, Tentacools, and Wingulls.
The third generation added quite a few new Pokemon, but it was insular that very few pokemon from past generations were present at all. A new map should mean the wild pokemon will be far more diverse. After how wonderful X/Y were in this regard, let's hope.
Don't know what to put on my team, this time. Things I used most, last time around, were Blaziken, Linoone, Pelipper, Ninjask, Wailord, Salamence, and older ones.
Just to restate what I said in the 3DS thread: OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG
I am complete....most underrated set of games in the franchise. Mega Groudon will be mine.
Uh, underrated? Everyone and their mother loves generation 3.
Which is weird, because they're not that good. I'll still be buying the remakes but the gen 3 games aren't all that fantastic.

i'm really not sure why everyone is saying it's Gen 3 remakes.
The advert says "A whole new world", and the description of the video says "It's time for a NEW pokemon adventure!"
I think these might be loose sequels as opposed to remakes.

The titles have Ruby and Sapphire in them and there's precedent of Pokémon remakes.
I stopped playing during Gold/Silver so I never got to experience it
The music seems pretty sweet but I never liked the designs of the two legendaries on the covers
Edit: I'm on Victory Road right now fighting a lot of Gurdurrs- are those veins all over them? They look... very phallic. But with big red noses, like dick clowns.
Fun Fact: I've never beaten the Gen III Elite Four. But I have played up to the Elite Four more in Gen III than in any other Pokemon game. I would restart the game constantly because I decided on a whim that I wanted a different starter, or that I wanted to play as the boy/girl, or I just wanted to play it again.

Pure speculation: Alpha and Omega represent the beginning and end. With the "new world" thing could they be hinting at new adventures set before and/or after Ruby and Sapphire?
Earlier today, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire for the Nintendo 3DS. The two games are scheduled for worldwide release this November.
However, there’s been some debate as to just what these games are. The teaser trailer for the two titles contains obscure statements such as “explore a dramatic new world,” which led some people to believe that they might be sequels or spin-offs of Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire, rather than remakes.
This is not the case, it would seem. During a financial results briefing, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata explicitly referred to the two games as “full-remakes” of Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire. Iwata noted that the original Ruby/Sapphire have sold 16.22 million copies worldwide. (Over 5.44 million of those copies having been sold in Japan.)
That said, while Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have been confirmed as remakes, there is that matter of the “new world” bit that The Pokémon Company keeps pushing. Even their press release mentions a “spectacular new world,” but just what they mean by this remains to be seen. It could be PR fluff or it could actually mean something.
I just hope they bring back the contests. That would make Milotic a little easier to get two of.
I hope they bring back gen III contests.

Hopefully they bring some of the expanded content Emerald offered into the base games, but they've some tendency to import third-version features into their remakes already so I'm not too worried.
Conversely, them doing the same by also importing the replacement of Steven by Wallace as the Champion will feel weird to me.
Alright and in this next scene all the animals have AIDS.
Posts
So hopefully these are megas and not formes and x/y will get a system update but still this got me crazy psyched
I can't afford them anyway and I can always just ask people to teach tutor moves for me.
Because HAHA.

Thankfully at that point you should be able to afford super repels.

Not really.
Even though the games are remakes the world could still look fairly different.

Forget Pokemon, I want to be the style master.
By the way, the competition sign up has opened for May. I entered on the Global Link. Will you?
I hope they bring back gen III contests.

I got a little excited when I saw your ship.
I have like five of those scales that evolve Milotic.
I actually hated those Super Contests. I actually preferred the lame dance offs or whatever that they had in gen 5.
