Just curious, I can't go to Steam itself to ask (work) but was wondering does anyone have the list of badges available for being a terrible Steam game hoarder and how many games you have to own to get them?
It's with a heavy heart that I tell you my car overheated on my way home today and as such I have to retire from the duration of the steam sale. It was my pleasure to send gifts, and I am thankful for those I received.

Nope. (As someone who bought it 'back when', I'm pretty sure that's at or near the price I paid; which suggests that they don't want to "cheat" the early backers, like many other early access / Kickstarted games.)
And let me confirm what others have said, with the added perspective of having watched this grow from "consult a sheet of numbers to see if your rocket is in a stable orbit" to a whole solar system full of SCIENCE, with more on the way: it's definitely worth it.
I'll probably wait on it since I already got like 10 games this sale. When is Kerbal supposed to come off of Early Access? I'm starting to get worn out on this Early Access stuff.

Kerbal is the gold standard for Early Access. It's feature-rich and they're still adding stuff.
Basically it's LEGO combined with NASA combined with a fully featured solar system.
I meant to ask yesterday, but should I pick it up for its local Co-opness? Been trying to find games that the kids and I can play together on the same screen. I saw it tagged as that, whats the learning curve / difficulty of it if a 6 year old were playing?
Wow. No coffee = Bad brain. I meant Spelunky.
Even the Spelunky world record holder still dies over and over. There's no learning curve. There's no learning cliff. There is a learning event horizon.
Just curious, I can't go to Steam itself to ask (work) but was wondering does anyone have the list of badges available for being a terrible Steam game hoarder and how many games you have to own to get them?
I never realized there was a third level to some of those badges.
Also, still mildly irritated I didn't get a potato sack one. I was travelling for most of it, and thought I'd done the requirements for Defense Grid, but alas, it was not meant to be. The one limited edition badge I'll never get

Many feels. We had some smoke after driving on the freeway on Christmas Eve, added 2 quarts of oil and things SEEM okay. Leaving it in the driveway and trying our best to just ignore it, can't drive anyhow as the sewer repair work just got completed and our driveway is all wet concrete anyhow.
Also, while I was confident BIZY wouldn't be able to hit me, I hadn't realized I have to worry about his minions as well:
Thanks, @CorriganX!
Spelunky's probably way too hard for six year olds.
For the record, some of us were six when we first experienced the hard-ass unfair games of the NES era.
I'd give him Spelunky.
The interesting thing about Spelunky is that it is never unfair. It's a bit like Dark Souls - it teaches by killing you, but the death is always your own damn fault.

Kind of wish I hadn't spent my snow globe money on Guacamelee. The gameplay is pretty fun but everything around it is just memes, references to other, better games, and slightly racist caricatures and humor.
And then you pass the three hour mark and the game suddenly gets hard as fuck, but not in a satisfying way- just frustrating, taking away the only fun bit of it.
It took me until my third winter badge, but I finally managed to get the one f2p item I wanted! Sure it's only selling for $0.15 now and I definitely spent more on cards to complete badges to get winter cards than that, but damnit that Warframe Phased Asa Syandana is finally mine!

Bah, OK, I can only play castle crashers and bookworm buddies so much. Ill keep an eye out for something else.
Thanks!
My son and I have a ton of fun with 3079. It's not on sale but it's not exactly expensive either. Download the demo and see if you think he can get a grip. My son dies a lot, and I mean a lot but he doesn't care as long as I can feed him guns and hoverboards, and he's actually getting pretty good. He's been playing it a lot by himself and he's got the basic idea of the gameplay flow now. Pretty soon he'll be able to act independently in the game.
It's a blocky game but it plays nothing like Minecraft, and we actually have more fun with this than we have playing Minecraft. It's just this crazy emergent and chaotic action RPG/shooter sandbox. There is a story and questing and stuff to do, but there's a lot of fun to be had just running around and fighting alongside whatever faction and scooping up loot.

Yeah I've been battling overheating for a few months now. I think it's only the thermostat but I can't be sure. Hopefully it'll be a quick fix and not a car ending one, but they can't look at it til Thursday so it puts me on the bench for the duration.

He shot me a chat today asking for some advice for a card-game junkie friend who had just gotten a steam account. I doffed my Wordy Professor cap and proceeded to wax at length about various card games on Steam (most of which I hadn't actually played).
Aside from Magic 2014, which this friend already had, the 'card' game I had the most fun with recently was actually a tower defense game: Prime World Defenders. I loved the collectible card aspect of the game for collecting and upgrading towers and spells. I finished the game before it was even out of beta and have over 30 hours in it. When I checked to store page, I saw that it was on sale for all of $3.39. I had some steambux from a Steam Christmas steam card so I shot HiT BiT a copy for his friend, since it was kind of a curve-ball recommendation from what he said his friend was into.
As it turns out...
...awesome HiT BiT had a copy he wanted to give me but, being awesome, had noticed that I had removed Ironclad Tactics from my wishlist recently. He made up 'friend' to see if I had maybe received Ironclad Tactics from someone and hadn't activated or it didn't want it anymore or what.
So HiT BiT is apologizing up and down chat while I'm sitting here with the biggest grin on my face feeling warm and happy about the Steam Sale and the PA community and just life in general actually.
This whole thing cracks me up, and the outcome couldn't be better as each of us comes away with an awesome game. It's like a Steam thread Gift of the Magi, except HiT BiT's still got his watch and I've still got my hair. Or somerthing. You get the point, which is that HiT BiT is awesome and you all are awesome and Steam Sale is a happy time.

People have already been working on scanning individual components to specific classic car models that can then be reprinted using a 3D printer. Unfortunately it's very difficult to 3D print something using anything other than layers of rickety plastic, but it'll happen someday. Between that the the idea of an Open Source Car (of which several different models already exist) I think there will be a very interesting court case sometime in the future where the term "pirated automobile" becomes a thing.
Also, to get back on topic, thank you @Darmak for hooking me up with Dark Void Zero. Between MURI and it and (waiting for) Oniken (to hit Steam already) it seems like I'm on a pseudoretro games kick over the past few days.

This is likely entirely the issue, though the rate at which it went from easy to hard to shut the game off and uninstall was more of a brick wall than a slope.

I loved Guacamelee, the combat was simple but fun once you started pulling off combos (there's a house you can learn some good combos in), and I loved the brutal platforming parts, which the hardest were mostly optional.
I don't remember any of the bosses being hard except for the final boss, which I felt was pretty hard but appropriate.

Really? I found it fun. And not that difficult for its genre. It IS a metroid game, so it of course will not be a cakewalk, but the only thing that took more than a half-dozen attempts was the final boss, which was a matter of learning the "tells" of its attacks.
Also, hey there guys. I've been trying to avoid this thread to stop myself from being goaded by the critiques here into spending even more money in Steam, I can't really afford it.
