Whilst flying any Spitfire, destroy 60/20/6 Enemy aircraft. (Arcade, Realistic or Simulator)
Earn Up to 100,000 Silver Lions.
If asked to name an aircraft of the Second World War, the first name which will come to mind for many will be the legendary Spitfire. Captain Eric Brown RN, world record holding test pilot and CO of the allies ‘Enemy Flight’ trials unit, named the Spitfire as the best piston engine fighter of the Second World War, of any nation. This decision came after extensive testing and simulated dogfights between fighters from both sides of the conflict. Tragically, the engineering genius who was responsible for this iconic aircraft would not live long enough to see the success of his final masterpiece.
Reginald Joseph Mitchell was born in Staffordshire, England on May 20th 1895. The son of a school teacher, Mitchell won a scholarship to a High School before leaving education at the age of 16 to become an apprentice engineer in the locomotive industry. His natural ability marked him out from his peers; as his experience grew he backed this up with further education in engineering, mechanics and mathematics at night school. At the age of 21 he was offered a job with the Supermarine Aviation Works, a company reputed for its maritime aircraft.
By 1919 Mitchell was the company’s chief designer. For the next decade and a half Mitchell was involved in the design of a vast array of aircraft, as wide ranging as fighters and bombers to the famous Supermarine Walrus which remained in service until near the end of the Second World War. However, it would be in the field of racing that Mitchell’s genius would sow the seed for his most famous creation. The Air Ministry commissioned Supermarine to design racing seaplanes for the High Speed Flight team, and in 1927 the Supermarine S5 won the world famous Schneider Trophy. This feat was repeated in 1928 by the Supermarine S6. In 1931 when Mitchell’s Supermarine S6B won the Schneider Trophy again, it conferred the right for Britain to keep the trophy permanently.
Working on the experience gained by working on the high speed racing aircraft which saw victory in the Schneider Trophy, Mitchell and his team were now ideally placed to respond to the Air Ministry’s call for a new fighter to equip the RAF. Mitchell’s 1932 Type 224 design proved inferior to the competition but Mitchell persevered, building on his experience to work on the new, all metal Type 300. However, Mitchell had by this stage been diagnosed with cancer and his health began to deteriorate.
Mitchell ignored all medical advice and doubled his efforts, desperate to provide Britain with the fighter aircraft he believed was needed. By 1937 his health had deteriorated to the point of forcing him to abandon his work, but in the last few months of his life he continued to attend test flights of the aircraft which was now known as the Spitfire.
In June 1937, at the age of 42, Reginald Mitchell succumbed to cancer. He was portrayed in the 1942 movie ‘The First of the Few’ by actor Leslie Howard, a depiction which drew some criticism from colleagues for depicting the no-nonsense, often blunt Mitchell in a very gentle light. Mitchell is best remembered for having given his life to provide his country with arguably the most famous aircraft in history.

Frontally, stugs will take a surprising amount of damage from APHE to the recessed gun sight just to the side of the barrel if you have to engage them frontally. But they are a bit of a bullet sponge from the rear for no obvious reason.
Stugs pop like fucking corn when you shoot them in that spot, it's glorious.
Slight error in that video. APCR or HVAP does not do better at longer ranges. It's the exact opposite as he states.
War Thunder has the most shit events. One day for 20 RB kills in my spit? For 100,000 lions? That's terrible. Who has a whole weekday to devote to these events?

If you go on a bad run in Realistic Battles, they can be. (E.g., winnings: 3,000 lions; repair cost: 4,400 lions)
Good thing I don't play Realistic Battles! I had enough of that kind of bullshit rat race playing high-tier World of Tanks.
At least a 1-kill Realistic match is usually enough to pay for 3 or 4 bad matches, so it's unlikely to really be a long-term issue, but short-term it can truly suck ass.
The real cost in this game is new planes and then training the crew to fly them.
EDIT: And you don't have to pay for the repairs; you can just wait the time out (and fly a different airplane in the interim).

You pretty much have to pay for repairs. My spitfire would take 1 hour to repair on its own. Most jets are 4+ days. My Beaufighter X would take 8 hours. I wouldn't even classify it as an option, it's mostly just a fail safe in the event you somehow run out of lions AND planes to earn them. It is mostly just a relic from early on in the games life, especially when it came to jets. Jet repair bills were hyper expensive (realistic repair bills are near 30k on live for last tier jets). Matches were just people flying around waiting for someone to sneeze because no one wanted to make the first move and risk the repair bill. Or they would get into a match, assess whether they have a really good chance of winning, and if not, leave.
But that's just my view. And I agree with Gas, 20 kills in RB is quite the task for a single day and 100,000 lions is not worth the effort. A good match is maybe 3 player kills. A great match is 5 or 6 kills. A normal match is usually 1 kill and 1 or 2 assists. Arcade would be the way to go if you're good at consistently scoring 8+ kills a match.

If you're having the sort of day in RB that involves getting twenty fighter kills, you're probably landing on the 'good' side of things. Getting the 100K for that would probably just be icing on top of the bazillions more you'd have earned getting there, unless you were in one of the higher-tier Spitfires that cost the entire net worth of the British Empire to repair...
Man late tier tanks don't interest me at all. Except maybe that really modern tank on the left hand side of the Russian tree. Like an early t-60 or something. Sorry not at my computer.
I just want my hetzer and tiger.
I absolutely love that unlike in world of tanks you don't start in shit tanks. Like tier one has some really damn iconic, recognizable tanks from the war. That's crazy. I love it. When I saw that tiger was tier 3 I almost cried. For starters, it means that it wasn't pushed to later tiers for arbitrary reasons (tiger! Scary! Not really) where it gets eaten alive (wot...) and that I can actually get it!

That T50 vid should translate to just about every tank in game (sans tanks like the ZiS or Stug).
What is concerning is if flank shots are primarily going to the track/suspension rather than the hull. Most tanks have thinner (and flatter) hulls there and should get penetrated more easy but if the damage is all going to tracks and suspension, lame. You should be able to slip a round through the bogie wheels, tracks, springs, and other suspension components to get to the side hull directly.
Tier 7 in WoT isn't much different from Tier 3 in War Thunder. Also the Tiger is one of the best Tier 7 tanks in WoT right now, so I wouldn't say it gets "eaten alive" by any stretch.

I cannot say for shooting through a wheel, but I can say I've taken component damage from rounds that penetrated through the thin side of the tank behind the tracks between wheels in at the very least a T-34-85.

The last time I played WoT (and probably a lot of other disgruntled people too), the Tiger was the worst tier 7 heavy by a wide margin. It had a nice enough gun but the worst armor and would start to fall apart with component damage from virtually any penetrating hit (especially since Wargaming decided to give it a more 'detailed' damage model than almost every other tank in the game and have its front-positioned transmission cause constant engine hits).
Logged in to do some arcade tank stuff so I can get some German tanks, and was prompted with 100,000 lions and a picture of a spitfire. I haven't done anything with my spits in days... Maybe it was something unrelated, but whatever, chump change for tanks!
I know the game gives you credits after certain periods of time, like one day, three days, a week and a month (I'm pretty sure on those, there might be others).

How do you propose testing this? AB, RB or SB? Are you going to use a baseline gun? Ammo type? How many shots? Range?
Perhaps find the average (or most common) gun for each nation at each Tier. Representing what you'd be facing most. Then take careful shots at specific locations at specific distances (50m, 100m, 250m, 500m, 1000m). Please video capture this so if you need to, can sent to Gaijin to report any oddities.
I don't have anything to video caap with. My plan was to do custom battle with unlimited ammo and respawns. I'd have the other player bring the tank whose gun they want to test over to my spawn and keep trying different angles/distances/shells
This game still feels weird. I'll keep getting extremely annoyed thinking I'm doing horrible, only to end up in top 5 on team... I don't think I've ever done another game where my impression if how I was doing matched so differently from final scores. Not sure if it's just the 30-60 sec it takes for planes to auger in or just poor buggers on my team getting slaughtered with no points.

I think we need a more scientific (SCIENCE!) approach.
Going through all permutations of tank vs tank and all ammo types will be way too much. Many tanks are easy to kill and don't really need any extensive testing. Perhaps we just identify the ones that are difficult to kill. Off the top of my head those would immediately be the StuG and T50 for Tier 1. I'd also recommend starting in the lower tiers since that's where everyone starts and where everyone's frustration blossoms (from facing those difficult to kill T1 tanks).
I'd also suggest sticking only with SB modes and only USSR vs German (not German vs German).
I also may be able to get my hands on some vid capturing software.

I know very little about Pokemon, but I think it would be quite handy to be able to summon a tank just, wherever.
