Does the entry-level Corsair really, really suck or something?
I don't think I've managed to score a single kill in it in, like, 10 matches. It can't turn for shit, so it's obviously set up as a boom-and-zoom airplane, but you can't outclimb anything, either. Every RB match has consisted of getting up to, like, 10k feet, coming across 2 or 3 enemy planes at the same or higher altitudes, and getting almost immediately shot down.
EDIT: I have never seen so many bullshit "One hit and your wing falls off" deaths as I have in this plane.
Have you tried the [X]P-38G yet? My rewards actually improved since I quit using the gold one... Wings don't fall off much but I swear it's a magnesium frame skinned with flash paper.
Nah - I've been mainlining Navy Fighter / Bombers. Love the Hellcat (now that I've unlocked rockets; dive bombs continue to suck ass in RB because it's impossible to hit anything, and there's no good practice mode).
My current research is the ... P-40, I think? Something in the P-39 / P-400 / P-40 area of rank 2.
On the whole, I wish there was slightly less difference between an upgraded aircraft and a non-upgraded aircraft. It's kind of annoying to start out taking off next to someone in the same model plane, and then a few moments later, they're 2 miles away and have got 5,000' more altitude.
So, the pz II gets much much much better once you unlock the best ammo (pzgr 40? the hvap type). Instead of fruitlessly emptying whole clips into people and not penning, now I can put a couple rounds straight through the turret and kill their crew.
I still lose all my matches in the pz 2 though. I think I'm at like...10% win rate. It would be hard for me to deliberately engineer a rate that low in world of tanks (I'd have to team kill 3-4 people on my team EVERY GAME), so I'm not sure what's going on. Still haven't unlocked another tank beside the german starter tank.
Things are proceeding much more smoothly on the russian front. T26 elited, BT-7, T-28 unlocked. Working on the T-50.
I had a fun match the other day in planes where I got a russian biplane on my tail and couldn't shake him off. A friendly plane came in for a head on pass and blew him away. A few minutes later, I noticed my resuer had a russian biplane nailed to HIS ass. I made my own head on pass and returned the favor. Yay, teamwork! Take that, OP russian planes!
I also had a weird match where I got shot down in one plane, and respawned in my blenheim. There was an enemy wellington practically right on top of me, bombing our airfield or something. We were flying along mostly parallel. I quickly switched to my gunner view and poured a stream of incendiary bullets into his engine, which promptly caught on fire. He plunged to the earth in a beautiful smoking curve and exploded. Maybe I'll hunt bombers in my own bombers from now on. That was certainly the easiest bomber kill I've ever gotten.
Are 250lb bombs enough to kill medium tanks and pillboxes?

Someone was reporting that 250KG bombs weren't destroying light pillboxes with glancing blows, they said they had to land squarely on the target.
I spent quite a few matches running my stuka bombers and then switched to the a20g. Hilarious control stiffening and me plowing into the target along with the bombs ensued.
So, I just had what was probably the best match of tanks I've played so far (Unless we count the match that I became death incarnate and ended up shooting @DaMoonRulz in the ass). I was in my KV-1, for this match. I was popping Stugs so easily. That tank is FUN.
On May the 16th, over 100 000 concurrent players were playing War Thunder. That’s a great indicator of the high appreciation for the game and we would like to thank our players for their loyalty and interest.
From May 24th 06:00 GMT to May 26th 06:00 GMT we are running the “War Thunder 100K” Festival. Numerous discounts and rewards await you!
From 06:00 GMT May 24th to 06:00 GMT May 26th
Reward for Every 100th* enemy kill - 100 golden eagle
-50% discount for purchase of a year’s premium account
15% discount for purchase of all rank III tanks (non premium)
25% discount for purchase of all rank IV tanks (non premium)
30% discount for purchase of all rank V tanks (non premium)
From 06:00 GMT May 25th to 06:00 GMT May 26th
Reward for the 10th victory - 100 000 lions
*for each 100th/50th/25th enemy kill (Arcade/Realistic/Simulator) you will be awarded 100 Golden Eagles, up to a total of 1000 Golden Eagles in the event.
So a -50% discount for a year of premium time would cost 7,600 Golden eagles. If you purchased it with straight money, that would cost $25 (5000)+ $14 (2500)+$1(150)=40.
OR
For $40 you could buy the Ace Advance pack on Steam for $40. It comes with two premium planes, 10,000 golden eagles (which would leave you with extra to buy a premium tank or plane on top of a year of premium) and an additional two months of premium time!

Aerocobras have been really good to me. Pretty sure they are taking up three of my five slots right now. I was about to drop the hellcat but finally noticed it can mount two 1000lb bombs... I had just assumed it was 2x100lb when I first checked it.

You should be able to custom battle. Otherwise you can just test flight and just blow up whatever.
Just dive at your target at an 80'+ angle and point your plane at the target.
Test flights don't have any targets*, which makes it really hard to determine if you're actually bombing things effectively.
* Okay, the US ones, at least, have that one hostile truck. Not hugely useful.
They have targets, they're friendly
^^^ Just bomb the blue dots. I just pick a small house or road intersection and aim for that. 250lb+ bombs are more than enough to pop tanks and pillboxes, so you're only looking to practice accuracy.
Alternatively: Choose plane > Test Flight > Bottom left of the window "Mission Editor".
Ok, so, I checked and PLAYER tank kills do count for the 100 kills thing. (No farming AI tanks)
So, for SB, that means I have to kill 25 players to earn 100 eagles. I can do this 10 times.
I have a free weekend, so I may be able to get some eagles out of this. lolololol for air battles thats still crazy though.
I'm not surprised that AI tanks don't count, what with them being brain dead, hill shooting derpy derps. Hoping to get a couple hundred eagles out of this event, though, as its pretty much the only way I can access premium time at the moment.
Its got 2 .50's, it should be able to murk an armoured car...eventually. You want a plane that is completely awful at ground targets? A5M4. Same BR as the G50, but has 2 7.7mm guns instead of 12.7mm.
In fact, the entire first tier of japan is hell on earth.
Edit: I've been bombed by Bot IL-2s....Twice. GIVE ME A PLANE! LET ME AT EM!
For a second, I thought we had deformable terrain.
Were those Pz IIs using a secondary gun? It look like there were two guns firing. We currently only have primary guns, right? No machineguns or anything?

Yeah - the Mission Editor thing doesn't work.
No reloads in the air, so it's shit for practicing.
If you start to repair your tank for something non-critical and arty gets called in or you need to start moving, hold down U again and you'll cancel repairs

Slam your plane into the ground. You respawn right where you were with fresh bombs.

I was brain storming the US Tech tree for Ground Forces. Since they entered the war late, there isn't much for Tier 1. So I figured, like the German aviation tree, they'd get foreign allied tanks. France.
Here's what I came up with. It's not fully fleshed out. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of important M4 variants and stuff like that.
Light Medium Heavy TD AA Foreign Light Foreign Heavy
T1 M2A4 M2A1 Medium R35 S35
M3A1 Stewart H39 Char B1 Bis
T2 M5A1 Stewart M3 Lee M6A2 M2 37mm M13 MGMC
M4 M3 75mm M16A1 MGMC
M4A1(76) M10 Wolverine
T3 M22 Locust M4A3E2 Jumbo
M8 Scott M4A3(105)
T4 M24 Chaffee M26 Pershing M18 Hellcat M19 MGMC
M36

I did similar brainstorming for the British Tanks (again disclaimer for errors and what not):
Light Medium Heavy TD AA Foreign
T1 Vickers 6T Cruiser MkII A10 Matilda II Mk VI AA Mk II T-13 Type III
Medium MkII Cruiser MkIV A13
Covenanter
T2 Tetrarch Crusader II Valentine 2pdr Churchill MkII Bishop Crusader II AA M3A3 Honey
Crusader III Valentine 6pdr Churchill MkVI M3 Lee
Ram
T3 Harry Hopkins Centaur Churchill MkVII Achilles
Cromwell
T4 Challenger Archer Firefly

Heavies for the Americans and especially the British are a real problem. World of Tanks relies mostly on stuff that never made it into production. Of those, I'd say the "Black Price" tagged on to the end of the Churchill line and the Caernarvon are the two that would make the most sense to use, since they were at least developed during WW2 rather than going on well into the 50's like WoT does.
For British mediums, I would be inclined to do the Comet rather than the Challenger, as while the Comet is not a huge leap over the Cromwell it at least went into full production whereas I think there were only a handful of Challengers. Also, I see no reason not to stick an early Centurion at the end of the line at Tier 5 (as production began in 1945 and the first ones arrived in Europe just barely too late to see action).
Edit: I'm sort of wrong, there were 200 Challengers built, which is not a lot but maybe enough to justify it... but I still think the Comet would be better. I think it would make more sense to include the Avenger, which is a TD that is basically a Challenger with a different, open-topped, turret, on the TD line (even though they weren't ready until just after the war). The Archer is problematic as a TD because it is built with its gun pointing backwards - designed to fire from ambush and then be able to speed away - and I don't know how that would translate into the game.
