Graphics Card + PSU Question

I currently have a GeForce 460 GTX which is powered by 2x 6 pin connectors. I am looking at upgrading to an eVGA GeForce 760 GTX, which needs 1x 6 pin and 1x 8 pin power connectors. I don't have an 8 pin at all.

PSU stuff is something I know hardly anything about, and have read conflicting reports as to how i could potentially make this card work without getting a new PSU. So, I turn to you, H/A:

- I have read that the 6 pin can handle more than 75w unofficial, and that it's fine to plug a 6 pin into an 8 pin slot, because the card is smart enough to know how to work around this, but not all cards will work this way. Correct or bullshit?

- Alternatively, I have read about molex adapters and can buy a 6 pin to 8 pin to make the connection work. Does this work well, and if so do I just need to ensure I have enough wattage to run it?

- Or, do I just need to suck it up and either buy a new PSU and/or find the nicest card I can that accommodates 2x 6 pin power cords?

Thanks for your help!

It seems to me like you should be fine getting an adapter to either use the current 6 pin plug and a molex to make an 8 pin plug, or the type that uses two molex plugs to make an 8 pin type plug.

I actually find a 'non superclocked' 760 that has 2x 6 PIN connectors which look like it will be fine. I'll probably pick that one up just to be safe. Thanks!
