Just played my first Luna game for the 10 Hero Challenge. Went 5/1/7 and rolled over all who opposed me. Felt kinda bad though. I was mid against an Invoker and he didn't seem to know what to do. I got gold snapped once in lane, and saw the meatball once as we pushed highground in mid.
Luna is a beast. I adore her. So don't feel bad. Though I still like her more on the safelane free farming.
Shitty day at work, guys. Spoilered for who the fuck really cares, anyway:
So, I'm a youth counselor. This girl broke a piece of plexiglass off the wall today and tried to shank staff. We physically restrained her, but she still managed to bite my leg pretty bad during the restraint. Got her to a quiet room to calm down, then we found out she'd hidden another large plastic shard in her bra. She started cutting her wrist up bad. Blood everywhere. I didn't have the staff on hand to get in there and remove the item from her possession safely, so I had to just monitor the situation while we called for additional assistance. During that time, she cut so deeply into her wrist that blood started splurting violently all over the walls. I had to throw open the door and kneel down in an ever-expanding pool of her blood to calm her down -- and all the while, she's threatening to stab anyone who comes near her.
Anyway, long story short, I got the fucking shard of glass away from her. Managed to get out of work like 4 hours late because of the goddamned mountain of paperwork associated with that shit.
All I want to do to unwind is chill and play some Dota. And the worst part of this whole mess is that I had to work so late that now all I really have time to do is get ready for bed and go to sleep. Basically, what I'm getting at here is that you guys are going to play some fucking Dota with me soon. Just be prepared for that.
Man, you make my day of dealing with a shitty customer sound petty. Good on you for managing to deal with that day to day.

Are there any more European qualifiers going on today?
Encountered some truly disgusting players today, ugh. Most were on my team.
Were any of them trolling / interfering with the team effort?
We literally had a kid a few nights ago in one of my teams, high-pitch voice and all, going "lol i dunno wut im doing" and hitting us with Astral Imprisonment over and over. We all reported him.

One guy left the lane and Jungled as Alchemist because I 'didn't save him from Axe' on top as Dire, we were lvl 2. I was OOM and auto-attacking as best I could. Stupid thing is, he didn't die and we were winning the lane. After that it was inevitably lost. He was abusive for the rest of the game and got reported by 3 other players.
One guy, a Warlock on the opposition, said he wanted to he wanted to rape and murder my mother and wear her skin, because I ganked him in our jungle as Storm Spirit. Who the hell would even say something like that to SS? He's such a nice guy.

What the hell is with today and people saying monstrous things?
Because if you're going to attempt to squeeze that big black monster into your slot you will need to be able to take at least 12 inches or else you're going to have a bad time...
I've lost my last 8 matches as DK trying to finish him off as my compendium. At this point, it must be my fault.

You know who I've never had to use Agh's on? Spirit Breaker. My match yesterday was the first time I had the opportunity to. I got one Agh's boosted ult off before the match ended. Hit two guys. Woo.
With Storm Spirit, regular attack out of ball lightning seems to be instant rather than having a backswing. Is this correct? Because it confuses and frightens me that I don't know of I triggered my first overload.
Don't forget that storms first attack out of ball lightning is affected by the option to turn on/off auto attacking after casting a spell. It is by default set to ON, so when you come out of the ball you can waste your overload charge on a creep if you aren't careful.

I got wrecked by an expertly handled Ursa. Mirana and I were in bottom lane as Dire. We're along the Radiant jungle, and Ursa is gone (Wraith King is still in lane). "Get out," I say. "Ursa is gonna jump us after a stun to combo."
"No," says arrogant bilingual Mira who would curse in Spanish. "We have to lane."
I didn't want to leave her alone to get ganked so I stay. Guess who eats the stun-bearattack? Me. Twice.
Later in the game Mira is killed when pushing a creep wave too far. We're obviously losing and she was alone for way too long. I urge her to pull back. Refuses. Gets ganked in predictable fashion. I wasn't mad, I just gave out advice to the team that any time you're fighting creep waves that long, it lets the enemy know exactly where you are and prepare for a gank like that. She fires back, "Don't die twice at the start of the game." Oh I'm sorry I foresaw something that you refused to budge on.
Anyway throughout the whole round Ursa is just blink-stomping us from out of vision.
So, does your matchmaking rank/level go down over time if you don't play for a while? I want to start playing again, but haven't played for 6 months and don't want to come back to a massive losing streak.
Took me three games to really start to get a handle on Earth Spirit, but once you sort of have him down, he's a beast. Initiations are great: pop Veil of Discord, roll into a group, pop Magnetize, call a remnant, grip it toward you then smash it away. Everyone is fucked. If they try to run away, drop a remnant in their path to keep the Magnetize up. Complicated and intimidating hero, to be honest, but really fun.

I need Bounty Hunter for my 10 lord challenge right? I figured, hey, it's late, but I've got one more game in me. I pick him at the start of the round.
Then someone picks Riki. And someone else picks Phantom Assassin. And Sniper and Ursa.
We were destined to be fucked as hard as we were.
On the bright side the enemy team was willing to make small talk during the buyback cooldown and such.
Edit - Whereas my team was too busy going "UGH UGH UGH"
Edit Edit - I also loved how at the start Ursa and I plan a gank on Huskar. We get the jump on him, but he had just edged out power wise to get us both. Ursa proceeds to go "omg BH" and I'm like "What, I went in with you." He had shit all to say about it because I was right. Like it was my fault he got killed first.

BH actually counters Riki pretty hard because of track, as long as you wait for him to reveal himself - Track is your friend!

If the enemy team had Riki, PA, Ursa, and Sniper, you guys should have been able to win the game at 20 minutes. Those heroes can't stop pushes worth shit.
Most pubs don't believe me when I tell them to push and win, though. I had a game recently where my team was full of teamfight and gankers and the enemy team had 5 carries. We were up 30 kills at the 30 minute mark, but my team wasn't grouping for pushes, so we never got into their base. Our bloodseeker never pushed with the team, and he had most of the kills, so we were never able to take an advantage. I told my team the longer this game goes, the less likely we are to win. Bloodseeker never pushed with us.
Finally at the 55 minute mark, we somehow managed to get a team wipe against them and pushed for the win. I hate games that are so stressful because your teammates refuse to listen. They have 25 kills so they refuse to listen to reason, and almost lose the whole game because of it.

Its trench as fuck, but I think you could probably make it work: Riki and BH can both be played as semi-supports (they're perfect for warding, dewarding, and scouting for lone enemies for your carries to gank early / mid-game). PA / Ursa / Sniper is still a shit lineup, but if Sniper and PA can get early levels and farm from the great gank potential on the team, they'll be really scary, and Ursa can pretty much guarantee that your team will control the Rosh pit.
I mean, don't get me wrong -- its definitely a shit team comp, I'm just trying to think of a way you could pull it together and make it work in a pinch.
I'm working my way through my 10 challenge heroes for the Compendium, and tonight I decided to try Faceless Void, who I have never played with before.
The first thing I learnt is that people are really, really abusive if your Chronospheres are anything less than perfect; even if you prefaced the game by saying that you've never played with Faceless before, and that he's one of your challenge heroes, and you're sorry in advance for any mistakes you might make.
It got to the point where I abandoned the game because two of my team mates were being so relentlessly awful.
I always mute people at the first sign of trolling, raging, or abuse if I'm in a pub. I'm here to win the game, not get into petty arguments with my teammates over who is the worst player here.

The moment i started doing this dota got 100% more fun. Seriously just mute as soon you realize someone is getting under your skin and never look back.

I get that in a normal environment this would be encouraged, but in dota pubs? Never do this. As what happened to you will happen pretty much every* time.
*Rarely you'll get a cool team that is chill about it and tries to help you learn.

I do this as well. Game still plays fine, instead of raging you just have people who don't type in team chat. You can play fine with that. Certainly better than when you're reading abusive chat from other chat.
I dunno if I would say I'm new to a hero. Don't know what the average reaction would be. I guess I could at least mute some people quicker. But it wouldn't inspire confidence. It's a lot easier to play dota if you're confident in your team mates to do shit you expect.

Nope, they finish up tommorow with the Losers Bracket final and then the winner of that vs. Mouz for the Grand Final.
And then online qualifiers are done, everything else will take place in Seattle on June 18-21st.
Henroid previously mentioned he just likes calling them that. Reference to a podcast or something.
Don't see a reason not to take it at face value.
