I cling to the desperate hope that being able to gear for multistrike, level 100 talents, and level 100 tuning will put Mistweavers back on track. I think chi generation is fundamentally broken without being able to double cast ReM from multistrike.

i think so far with just the 5% we get as mistweavers I've done it once so far
so here's hoping

The consensus from top guilds on Mistweaver PvE is that it's super shitty at 90 and much better at 100. It's poor in PvP either way, top teams will still use Resto Druid or Disc Priest.
If you're worried about monks from the level 90 perspective I'd say wait and see. One thing Monks have going for them is they are absolutely amazing melee DPS (and very fun to play) in WoD and Brewmaster is by far the most involved tank spec in the game.

Oh I just meant PvP from a general battleground perspective, not huge on arenas.
I'm gonna continue to level my monk slowly but probably gonna flip a coin between Druid and priest.
I didn't really watch that many Arena matches during Blizzcon but I did catch a couple series where a Mistweaver Monk played very well at the highest level of arena. The team won both times I saw them.
They seemed pretty viable in PvP.
I suspect that Mistweavers are still pretty fun in battlegrounds as they have most of their cool utility tricks. Solid CC through paralysis and talents, mobility, a buffed Transcendence for in-combat teleportation every 10 seconds, an interrupt and I think you can use Touch of Death on players now (10% guaranteed execute basically).
They still have weak cooldowns which will always make things tough in burst situations though.
All the talk of Mistweavers sucking is making me interesting in their level 100 play... it can be that bad, right?
Numbers wise it's not bad, but it is weaker than the others. It's also kinda frustrating to play since you're constantly chi starved. Pretty much all your chi comes from Surging now, which is gross. It's shit seeing the spec not only be weak compared to others, but also less fun and more frustrating to play, while others like resto druids haven't really changed and still put out amazing numbers.
idk, Brewmasters aren't that complicated. I'm thinking about switching to Prot Pally because I really dislike what they (didn't) do to give BrM anything fun and new. Improved Roll for worst leveling perk 2014.
Also Windwalker is a good dps spec, but it is also not fun at allllll. This is the first expansion I have no idea what I want to play going forward.
Without multistrike there is no way to generate chi aside from healing full health targets with Surging Mists. The crane stance numbers are under tuned at 90. Level 100 talents fill in the on demand burst healing loss from the old TFT/Uplift mechanic. Haste buff from serpent stance (50%!) is gone so on live everything feels way slower.
Stat priority got a huge reshuffling and there hasn't been time or even the availability of our single most important stat (multistrike).
Most of these problems feel like symptoms of not being level capped and stuck in old optimized gear. If you'd never played before I doubt you'd notice.
I'm impressed with the speed of levelling.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy it's faster.
But being able to go from 85 to 5% shy of 90 without leaving jade forest...
seems a bit too fast

If it was with my first character I would agree, but after that first trip through I would prefer to level an alt to max as quickly as possible.

How does the vale of eternal blossoms work, do I have to do the quest line to open it, or did it open automatically on getting 90?

I just did this about a week ago with my warlock but I don't remember exactly. I had moved out of Jade Forest to get better quest rewards and more xp, and around 89 I had a quest that opened the gates. I'm not sure what triggered it, but I certainly didn't have to go all around Pandaria to get the gate to open

Get summoned, fly over, or go to kun lai and talk to Xuen at the temple of the white tiger to do a quick quest and open the gate.

Not sure why, but MoP is/was my least favorite for questing with alts. Probably not helped by the dungeons, which I dislike (specifically brewery. If I never see that place again, I'm happy).

Oh, hello there Blue Drake, welcome to the team! Wow and on my first run of the day, onward!
Just gonna finish up Tempest Keep and I'm done for the we--oh, that's Ashes of Al'ar isn't it? Huh.
Debating whether or not to go do Dragon Soul and see if my mount luck will persist.

Fair enough. My druid is a nelf though.
