The AI of cops in most games is absolutely awful. In most GTAs, Driver, Need for Speeds, etc the police will drive over cliffs trying to arrest you for a minor fender bender or for being in an illegal street race. They don't care if they smash the vehicles of innocent bystanders (or run over them) as long as they get their man.

Follow the police around sometime in GTA 5. Pretty funny. It's like watching the police force from The Simpsons.
The thing about AI, especially cop AI, is that it's not just the limitations (whether it's a limitation of the hardware, or the developer's ability, or the publisher's budget), it's also the fun factor. At a certain point, realistic cop behavior can make a game like GTA less fun. I think there's still room to grow before we reach that point. But can you imagine if GTA cops started pursuing you over moving violations?

Frankly, I'd be happy to live in a city where police where stop at nothing, and I do mean nothing, to catch their man.
I want a realistic game where cops do nothing but sit in speed traps trying to catch people who are driving safely but maybe 8 MPH over the speed limit, and they racially profile so you have to tactically decide when it's safe to play the black guy. =P

You don't realize it during character creation, but the darker your character the lower the speeding threshold.
As someone who has never played a GTA title, all I have to contribute is that ramming police vehicles in Need for Speed just to get them to chase you was a lot of fun.
I don't think realistic cop responses would be great for GTA. I would like to see it in a game similar to Watch_Dogs. Make it so you can tap into police information, see patrol car routes and speed traps. Play it cool when they're around, drive like a maniac when they're not watching. Maybe a real-time visualization of your stolen car's info filtering down to the various police cars. Could make stealing a car and driving across town tense and interesting.
After destroying a dozen or so police helicopters, I simply ask that the police consider not sending more expensive flying machinery out to apprehend me. Also, if I am in a tank, ramming a squad car into me isn't exactly a great use of resources.
I'm not only a criminal, but I am a tax payer.

The speed traps should be on the safest stretches of road in town too, where even if drivers were to run off the road at 90 MPH they'd be fine and risk damage to nothing and no one. Preferably outside of middle class neighborhoods at morning and afternoon rush hours, to ticket drivers who can likely easily afford the trivial fines and won't challenge you in court.

So what do you guys think about the Nintendo Account system? With the new about the next generation using similar architecture it could be that you buy one copy of a game on your account, and decide which machine you want to play it on. Sure there will be exclusives, things like the Wii Fit, and Wii sports stuff, but most other gamey games will port over. You could pokemans on your handheld and then bring that back home and pokeymans in HD on your console.
There'd be some graphical and art direction choices to be made, and some games would not seem so impressive in HD, but maybe they can fix that with labeling. Plays best on 4DS or plays best on Console etc.

It's just a long term consolidation of account information, like Live! or PSN. They certainly could emulate Sony's cross buying and begin releasing two versions of a game for a single price. But at the rate Nintendo catches up with the competition on basic usability, technology, and network features I wouldn't hold my breath. This is more than likely their way of enticing future users to upgrade to new consoles so that they can be confident the Zelda, Mario, and Metroid games they've already purchased five times each in their lives will still be there when they power up their new device.
"Sadly we had to knock Tropical Freeze by 3/4ths of a point because all attempts to crawl inside our TVs and live in this beautiful and vibrant world proved futile."
Dragon Age 2 was a pretty bad game despite getting jerked off as a 9/10 game by far too many reviewers who refused to criticize Bioware. TOR was obviously a massive disappointment, although after the initial failure as a sub game they seem to be having success F2P.
They haven't really had missteps besides those, it just happens that those and the ME3 ending controversy are the freshest things to come out of Bioware.
I mourned the death of paper instruction manuals but the digital manuals on the Wii U/3DS are great. Games like Pikmin 3 have unique art in their digital manuals showing the various game actions. I like how the numbered lists showing the GUI elements are links you can click that automatically scroll back and forth between the screenshot showing the GUI element and the description down the page.
One thing I'd like to see with the Wii U manuals would be if they worked like the 3DS manuals, where you don't have to launch the game to be able to view the manual. Also it would be cool if you can view the digital manual on the eShop before you buy.

With the desire for a unified OS between handheld and console, I can't see the Wii U being supported for more than a couple more years. That said, I think it's a great idea that they're moving towards a unified development environment as well as a unified account system. I just wish it could be done on 3DS and Wii U.
Also, I hope in this new venture that the figure out how to be able to change NNID's even if I have to pay for the privilege.

Viewing the manual before you buy would actually be a really cool idea.
Viewing the manual before you buy would actually be a really cool idea.
I have a hunch that it would trigger an involuntary, subconscious reaction of "wait what huh" and make people think the game is too confusing.
I know that's happened to me a few times, I read the manual and it's like "press R to trigger a unit break, which can enhance the status of your crystals by one level. Note that this can only be done three times during one battle scene (see page 14 for more information on battle scenes). You can also opt to press L to cancel the unit break, but this will drain some units of ambrosia from your experience grid, so it's best to maintain a unit break for as many rounds as possible."
But in practice it's perfectly logical and easy to understand.

Yeah. Every time I load up a new game, I'll start looking through the menus to see what all the controls do and everything. Then I go "Damn I'm never going to remember what all these things do," before realizing I should just go play the game and it'll be organic because hey, it was designed that way.

I can tell you right now without hesitation that Tropical Freeze is my favorite Wii U game
I think it's safe to say at this point that Retro Studios is physically incapable of making a bad game.
Don't say that.
I can't handle another Bioware.
I too couldn't handle Retro being a continually great developer

I... I do not remember your love, Bioware. I have tried. I have tried to recreate it, to spark it anew in my memory, but it is gone... a hollow dead thing. For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of a memory. And then nothing. I look upon you and feel nothing. I remember nothing but you turning your back on me, along with all of the others.

Most, if not all of Dragon Age 2's faults can be attributed to EA rushing the game out the door way way too early.
EA sucks, but there were design decisions that made DA2 a step back from DA:O and that's on Bioware. I still have high hopes for DA:I though. We'll just see.
99.9% of Mass Effect 3 is a fucking fantastic game. Taken as a whole, the Mass Effect trilogy could possibly be my favorite 'game' ever. Sure the ending blew pretty substantially but I can forgive that for the countless hours of pure enjoyment and quality the rest of the series was.
A, granted large, misstep on one part of the game doesn't negate the quality and greatness of the rest of the series, and given their excellent post-launch support of all their games with good DLC's and completely unexpected excellent free multi-player DLC for 3, I have no idea why people shit on Bioware so much.
Maybe if the Dragon Age games interested me I'd be in a different position from that series standpoint but who knows.
All I know is that they still have my goodwill, with the exception possibly due to casey hudson being a pretty substantial douche over the ending stuff, but I'm not going to condemn the rest of the company and games because of that.
A space RTS like Homeworld set in the ME universe is still my wet dream of a game.
This uh...has a lot to do with the WiiU because uh...umm....yes.

So bummed that they wouldn't release trilogy for the WiiU. I can just imagine selecting all my powers and weapons using the gamepad without breaking the flow. Picking dialogue from the gamepad to basically make it a HUDless game.
Only semi-related I'd also totally re-buy the Metroid Prime trilogy if they further adapted it to the WiiU gamepad for maps and weapon switching and scanning.

Mass Effect 3 bummed me out because it completely forgot what made the first two special (Exploration, role playing, etc.) in favor of combat and shoving you down corridor after corridor Gears of War style to the next objective point. I wouldn't have minded that if they hasn't completely lobotomized the dialogue system ( either a happy face or sad fave) and hadn't done away with the hub worlds. The ending was really only the fart on the shit sandwich.
I'd love MP trilogy for WiiU. But I just got the Wii one with the Black Friday sale, so I'd feel a little bad about either buying the new or not buying it because I got the old one.

Kotaku has an article on how Nintendo transitioned from no mare actual game manuals to digital ones with the Wii U and how good they've gotten.
