Is this the one that asks, "Wouldn't you like to see... Lot's wife turn into a pillar of salt?" edit: (whoops, had Abraham on the brain)
And then I wonder if they really figure people WOULD like to see that? The metaphor of capricious judgement on someone murdered for being unable to take one last look as everything she ever held dear is destroyed?
Edit: Wait, no, that was a single player game. Found the MMO.

It's a rare drop. Sodium has only about a 15% LDC normally.

Why would Abraham's wife turn into salt? No one wants that. Lot's wife though, she's salty.

Anybody making a The Bible MMO is going have do a ton of cherry-picking to create a game that isn't wildly offensive to everyone. The Old Testament especially is crammed with stuff that is totally inappropriate by modern standards. Still, they won't have to try hard to be the best Christianity game ever made. Wait no, The Binding of Issac is pretty amazing. Ok, 2nd best is a lock.

Also, turning back is a metaphor for descending back into sin.

Yeah, but the line from the kickstarter is, "Wouldn't you like to see Lot's wife turn into a pillar of salt?"
What? No! That's awful.
Edit: And the best bible-based game ever made was that platformer where you were Noah trying to collect all the animals before the flood.

That just proves my point about how easy it is<grin>.

Also, it's a way more interesting game (not necessarily fun) if during the "Run from Gomorrah" event you die if you rotate the camera too far.

What I said had nothing to do with whether or not you want to see it, but your "capricious" thing.

Well, as a metaphor it's not capricious, but when looked at literally it DOES fit in the wrathful and capricious Lord of the Old Testament thing where people die for really small things that are actually metaphors for more important things.
Love the idea of getting a group to "run" Hell. Great strip. Reminds me of
The link to that game in Tycho's newspost no longer works. A little digging shows that The Bible Online was made by a company called FIAA, and it was later renamed Godstoria. That game also featured the Sodom and Gomorrah story. It looks like that game closed up shop around the end of 2011.
I read "Call of Abraham" as "Call of Abrams".
Then it had me thinking what any biblical story would look like if Abrams was the director.
"Staff turning into a snake? Lame. DRAGON!
Turning the river into blood? TIDAL WAVE OF BLOOD!
Plagues of wild animals, Locusts and Darkness? I can work with that"

We’d seen the Kickstarter for Bible Adventures: Call of Abraham mentioned all over, and it reminded us of The Bible Online strip we’d done a ways back. But that was very much in The Far Side vein, single panel type stuff, and I thought there was room to investigate it further.
Although in this case, Tycho linking to Wednesday's comic almost makes the paragraph funnier.
WoW jokes are the bread and butter of the webcomic world because, frankly, MMOs in general are pretty absurd if you don't suspend disbelief. And in some cases, they pretty much require you hang it.
Not to say that makes them trite. They've got their place, as evidenced above.
I think something could be said for an RTS game about Moses's trek through the desert. You know, the parts that generally get skipped over through narration in most christian media like destroying entire civilizations through warfare and crushing cities.
An RPG though? I've been through way too many of those where game developers were too invested in the worlds they created to allow any modicum of change or effect based on player actions, and much too many where the developers mined every scrap of lore they could find to create content (looking at you Blizzard!).

and I want it.
holy balls it actually is a real thing
I feel kinda bad how much I enjoyed scan reading that kickstarter page.
There's just something about the mix of 3rd person RPG and Religion that just comes off amusing no matter how frank you put it.

Or if there will be factions. I'm thinking the Israelites will be a bit overpowered.
Bible Chronicles: The Call of Abraham is a single player, third person role playing video game which follows the story of Abraham in the Bible.
