It's possible that Big Dookie was referring to stock in the sense of unmodified loot tables and research paths.
I would be in favor of this for the rather simple reason of "we kinda know what we're doing now". The result of a low C4 environment was convoluted, and labyrinthine apartment blocks that were astonishingly unfun to reside in. The primary goal of the building being to make any assault on the place so expensive in terms of C4 that it wasn't worth even suiting up.
I think that a C4 rich environment would discourage hoarding and encourage people or groups to construct multiple smaller bases. In terms of weapons, let the automatics drop and be researchable or just remove them entirely. With zombies gone, weapons are only useful against other players now.
Rust ++ does seem good, but like mentioned earlier the modular nature and flexibility of Oxide is the best. I think long term Oxide will outstrip the other mod packages out there. That's what is used on the server I play.
Knowing nothing about really managing a server for this game, a quick glance at the mods makes it look like Rust++ is more robust and probably more familiar for us who've been playing on Pie's server. If anything, even more options.
From what I know of running servers rust++ definitely seems like the better choice, the feature set looks better and the only downside I can see is that it might be more time consuming to actually get configured but it would definitely be worth it.
I'm liking the zombie free environment. If I see something humanoid, I run and hide.
Is anyone having much luck finding research kits and blueprints? I haven't had any drop after 30-50 red bears/wolves and chests. I remember we asked pie to lower the drop rate, because we had too many...
I got two either last night or the night before. Drop rates can seem really streaky due to the random nature of the drops. I was on Sliver's server when Pie's was down and I was leaving holo sight blueprints to rot there.
I also find it difficult to break my habit of taking everything that drops. Granola bars are wasted space, but I still feel bad leaving them there.
I've been playing on the server for a couple of weeks now, playing as a loaner. I've come to the conclusion it's no longer safe to continue this. Someone want to team up?

For a minute there I thought you were role playing as a Rustian loan shark, loaning out C4, due with interest in a week, sending out goons to break kneecaps if you don't get paid.
Everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
Hello everyone, a friendly heads up just in case people don't know: The serve reset last night. The bandits have been on all day laying claim to territory. If you want to shift the power balance you may want to build your own stuff before they take the good areas over. They are building near Big Rad, Small Rad so far. They will be in a good position to get any drops.
I suspect by the time I get a chance to play much next week the server will be back to how it was yesterday and the people (bandits) who have the time will already have 'claimed' everything and be fully kitted out.

Yeah, we really need to get some numbers, they've put in some long hours and are well kitted out.

Honestly, I don't think I'll ever be able to put in the hours to compete with those guys. I think I might just go the loner route this time around and see how it goes.

I had that problem a lot on an old server, people could too easily get multiple sets of advanced gear and never fear death. Course that's why I set up my server to be much rarer for advanced gears. Bow and pipe shotgun fights all the time! Haha
Just started on Pie's server tonight, I think there are only a few people on. It's only been a day and I ran into an entirely metal base. It's actually only a little bit from where I set up camp. Hopefully they're friendly, I just really started playing this game last night.
Hey guys, Argyle Alligator here. I wanted to show how influential the power of music in Rust could be, bottom line: I still got shot a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uKQ-m548Cw

I've only gotten a couple research kits and did get two rad suit armor BP's off zombie bears. I stay away from chests because that's where the pk's patrol I'm sure, and/or some goose leaves a single flare or can of tuna in there and the chest never respawns.
I dont mind more people, I guess I just don't really like not knowing who anyone is.
Also last night there was some serious goofiness going on with someone constantly trying to log into the server and getting a 'name already exists' boot over and over and over.
The Aimbot was banned, along with the Speedhacker and the dude who flew when he jumped, they were apparently all together.
The log in attempts that receive boots are for names that are not accepted by the game, due to people attempting to exploit under names with complex characters.
The Loot tables have been heavily changed, and have reached a pretty balanced and comfortable point. If you have any suggestions feel free to post here, and that info can be relayed.
A brief loot overview...
-Shotguns are available from mobs, at a lower chance than P250s/9MMs
-Bolt Action Rifle chance is lowered.
-MP5s, and M4s are added to mob loot at low rates, M4's have the rarest item in game aside from supply signals.
-Small chance of Grenades from mobs
-All ammo has been decreased
-Ammo drops match weapon dropped (IE if you kill a mob that drops a shotgun, it has a chance to drop shot shells, but not any other type.)
-Paper has been decreased
-Explosives have been increased
-C4 rate from Airdrops has been lowered greatly (These two changes will make C4 available to people who work for it. IE farm mobs)
-Weapons Mods are adjusted, Holo sights are increased in rate, and laser sights decreased and silencer and flashlights are medium. (Holo's and Lasers are not craft able, and lasers are less desirable, so the idea is you can learn to craft flashlights and silencers, so the drop rate does not matter)
Those are the major things, if people are interested I can post the actual percentages.
The Bandits group is gone, and now exists as two groups, we work a bit separately, but we are not quite at the point of shooting each other.
Civilian 42%
Police with Handgun 12%
Police with Shotgun 6.5%
Medic 11%
Scientist 14%
Soldier with Shotgun 2%
Soldier with MP5 0.5%
Soldier with M4 0.5%
Soldier with Demolitions 2%
Engineer 9.5%
Keep in mind these are not absolutes, killing a soldier with M4 does not mean it will drop an M4, it simply means it has a chance to, among the other things it can drop.
Hopefully when they add proper AI and mobs/npc's this type of drop list will make more visual sense... currently we have soldier bears
So, I just lost about an hour and a half of gathering to the killer node bug. Couldn't get back to my backpack in time. Trying to remind myself it's an alpha and that's all part of playing it, but it's still frustrating as hell. Is that the bug that can be mitigated by turning fall damage off? I'd throw my vote in for having fall damage off on Pie's server if it stops that from happening.
Yep, fall damage from mining resource nodes made me lose most of my stuff, since I'm still starting out and didn't have a metal door on my place yet. Just got one, so hopefully there will not be a raid and my door gone like it was when I logged in today.
To be fair I did walk up to Kermit without being aggressive at all and got shot in the face for it. While I understand that people do KOS, honestly that is not going to change on any PvP server and I feel like it makes the game more fun due to the heightened awareness you are forced to have due to the danger that may be lurking around the corner.
I am missing seeing some of the other groups and players on. Right now it feels a lot like a few solo players and then the Bandits. Though, as Malley said we have disbanded into 2 separate groups and it is possible that at some point we may turn into combative against each other. But that remains to be seen.

Somehow you take a zillion fall damage sometimes. Sliver's server has temp fixed this by removing fall damage. Which is also a ton of fun.
