Hello guys, for the longest time i was looking for a game i was playing at the local arcade store when i was in 2nd 3rd grade. I spend quite a lot of time looking at "vertical shooter arcade games" images that google managed to offer, as well as looking at other arcade forums where people were asking for some good arcade games hoping someone would suggest the very title i was looking for. I googled everything that people replied but it was not the one i was looking for.
And here comes the description:
Before i go into details i will tell you i remember very little about this game, all i can say is that the graphic lvl was the one on the lvl of 19xx series and the dodon pachi so it was pretty much top notch for its time. Also, there were only two planes to choose from and i believe both planes were presented on the screen, each picture of the plane taking one half of the screen. Now, for somewhat reason everyone that played the game picked only one option, it was a black plane very similar to this real plane model:

The 2nd very distinctive memory i have is the bombs that the plane used. It was a white beam coming out of the plane from bottom to the top of the screen and it expands and then contracts within the plane. The wave was white and maybe at the ends blue very similar to a kame-hame wave (dragon ball, Son Goku, come on everyone knows kamehame wave
). Also, the beam destroyed every projectile one the screen.
The third thing i remember was some of the 1st few bosses, since nobody could get past lvl 4, i remember a boss that resembled this plane:

and another boss that was a tank coming from the ground with three main guns.
That is all i can remember, i believe i made my description very clear and i hope someone will help me find this game. I was so surprised that i didnt managed to find it till now, i've been raiding quite a lot of forums and saw a bunch of lists containing top vertical shooter arcade games but none of these games were the one i was looking for.
Thx for reading, i know i am new to these forums and i only made this account so that i can find this game, but i am getting desperate to find it, it is like a window to my beautiful childhood

For reference: the aircraft you linked are a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, and a Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, respectively.
Neither does the raiden series match. The reason i know this is coz i distinctivly remember the airplane used, the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird is carved in my memory like a footstep in wet a concrete, and none of these games seem to have it. Any other suggestions ?
About when do you think you played this game? From the subject matter, late 80's to mid 90's seems most likely, as both the SR-71 and B-2 were sorta-new aircraft with really distinctive silhouettes. The B-2 in particular is really super common as a boss design in these games, possibly because it's a giant plane to begin with.
I haven't been able to find any game that matches all three of your memories. I've found it particularly difficult to find games that feature only two characters to choose from; it's much more common to either have no choice, or to have three to six choices.
Air Gallet seems to match some of your criteria, but rather than an SR-71 it features an F-15 or an F/A-18 for character choices. The bosses do seem to fit though.
Strikers 1945 III also fits the boss category, but doesn't have an SR-71, and has quite a few different planes to choose from.
Vapor Trail has only three planes to choose from, one of which is a blue-black Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II.
Unfortunately I've exhausted all the games that I have direct experience with. I found this site to be a good resource with plenty of screenshots, but it's not a complete listing of every top-down/vertical shooter.
[edit] Trigon, also known as Lightning Fighters is another possible match.
Raynolds, although the game you posted is not the one i am looking for, you my friend have been of tremendous help to me.
I watched the game at mark 19:30 and a few seconds later the player uses his bomb. That bomb is very similar to the one used in the game i am searching with a couple of key differences as shown in the image i managed to edit with paint which closely resembles the image from my memory.
Notice the key differences from the bomb used in the video and the one i managed to edit in the picture. The wave although vertical, has little curved areas perpendicular to the ship and it feels much more powerful and dominant and starts from the very bottom of the screen unlike the one in the video where the wave starts from the planes forward part and there is nothing behind it. Although i am not sure about this 2nd part buti do believe that the plane's bomb was slightly coned at the very top of the screen, although this might not be the case and it is possible that it was just a straight line, but i am positive about the two arch like figures that formed perpendicular to the plane.
Also, regarding the tank boss i was describing. Now that i think of it, the tank was aracnoid looking, and it sort of comes in the sceen from beneath the grass. Unlike any regular tanks i believe it was using mechanical legs for movement and might have had sort of aracnoid look to it.
I really think the edited picture i posted will light a bulb to anyone that played the game, it is impossible not to remember such graphic bomb...
@IronKnuckle's Ghost
Now to reply directly to your post IronKnuckle's Ghost, i believe this game was played when i was around 3-rd grade so i was about 8-9 years old, i am 25 now so that makes it around 16-17 years ago. Since i live in Macedonia which even back then was super 3rd world country (very poor compared to western civilization) it might be that this game was quite older but the graphics was really top notch for its time, very very artistically drawn as i described above, it was nothing like some galaxy or other low quality games.
Forget about the plane choices and the bosses, there is a possibility that i was mistaken, just pay close attention to the bomb used i described in the picture. It was very graphic and very easy to remember, a powerful straight line kame-hame like wave with slight pointy curves forming perpendicular to the plane. Also it took quite a large chunk of the screen, it covered like 1/4th of the screen as described in the image. And thx for the link you provided, i shall certainly weed through those titles...
edit: Well i started looking at some screen shots from the link you posted, and i would like to say right away that unlike some of these fantasy themed vertical shooter games i saw, this was nothing like it. It had very realistic, military feel to it. Except for the kamehame bomb ofc
