Philip the Fair probably wasn't trusting churchmen to induce confessions for him. Prior to his attack on the Templars, he had several run-ins with the pope, at least one of which involved him banishing from France any monks or friars who took the Pope's side.

...all that aside, I'm pretty sure discrider is dirty as sin and is working with the Templars.

Yes, yes. And when we all know who the Grand Master is then all us Monks can just question each other in a big old circle and know for certain who the Archivist is.
But that doesn't help us until we know who the Grand Master is.
And that won't happen until we make all these Templars squeal.

You know, watching you guys bicker, even jokingly at the moment, makes me think the strength of this game will be when the roles change for rounds 2 and 3 and it starts getting confusing as to who said what when and who was who at which point, and all that good stuff, especially if a Traitor ends up as a loyal Templar, or the Archivist as a normal monk, and so on.

Don't the monks have a limited(as in just one) amount of inquiries they can make?

    1 "Inquiry" per Monk.

Yeah, I was asking because it removes the circle inquiry thing discrider was talking about. Unless the monks want to save their inquiries for that.

Your Majesty! I'm a templar but I've always benn your true servant! I believe its time to reveal myself and inform you that Templar Magister is ObiFett. Hang him as soon as possible.
Now I would advise you to send your monks againts each other as there is a traitor among them

Hm. This is an interesting lie, especially since I'm trying to get a handle on the game and I have no idea why he would make this up.

I've seen you leading ceremonies, giving orders, planning to kill our beloved king!

Well, yeah. But I mean who hasn't done those things at some point in their life?

Well, obviously, those loyal to King Philip. So I suppose that makes you the opposite?

And Hedgethorn is obviously the archivist because he knows too much of history to be a common monk.
Forget the second and third game, I found myself referring to the PM every time I read a post to try and remember who was who. :P

Come on, just because you are loyal doesn't mean you haven't thought about or planned his death.

Do people think signing posts with Templar, Monk and King Philip would be helpful (since in the physical game the cards are going to be very easily identifiable, so its not meant to be obscure, or is just the list I pmed + posted in the thread enough?

I think it would help a bit to see whos on what team via them signing their posts rather than having to keep switching back to PMs.

    This what you mean?

Blah blah, down with the king!

Well, if this is all that the Templars have to say for themselves, I guess it's pretty clear.

We should string up ObiFett, the Grand Master, have the Monks form a circle, test each other and then string up the Archivist too.

K, so I think I have my head finally wrapped around this game. Two Teams:

Team Phillip: (They all get a point if Phillip identifies the Grandmaster and Archivist)
    King Phillip
    Traitor Templar (x1)
    Monk (x2)

    Team Templar:
(They all get a point if Phillip fails)
    Knight Templar (x3)
    Templar Grandmaster
    Templar Archivist

Is that right? Is the distribution correct as well?

    You are correct, sir!

Not sure if this silence is indicative of ObiFett's guilt or of simple peasant fascination in other Philip-mandated weekend executionings.

Well, I mean, have the monks yet done their inquiries? (1 per monk)
Once they have done them, we can discuss the results, after which the King does the picking(of one monk and one templar).

And this is absolutely the wrong way to use the Monk powers.
We should discuss what information we have first, try to figure out what we can, and then use the monk powers to iron out everything else.

Yes, but I could say that Daemonis is the Grand Master. Or that Rhan9 is the Grand Master.
You don't know. I know, but I could be lying. Or I could be telling the truth. Or maybe you DO know, because you're a traitor and the Templar Archivist!

The incentive is for them to muddy the water. They get points for obfuscating the Grandmaster.

    Right now, I'm thinking:
    Hedgethorn seers Daemonis
    Mikey CTS seers Hedgethorn
    discrider seers Mikey CTS

Anybody have a problem with that plan? I will entertain suggestions for a few hours before finalizing my orders.

  • ObiFettObiFett Use the Force As You WishRegistered User regular
Would it be better to see the results of a seering before assigning the next one? At least the third one could be made with a more informed choice once you know the results of the first two.

I am curious if you are going to do them in that order. But yes, seeing results from one before sending the next is probably the best way to handle it.
