Interesting. Kingdoms of Amalur got a couple of updates. EA was added as one of the publishers and the base price was lowered to 20 dollars/euros/pounds. Maybe there is hope for a Steam sale after all!
Teamwork is absolutely essential; it is your most powerful tool.
Dozens of activated special abilities; you will do way more than fly and shoot.
You bring two gunships to each match, doubling the amount of shipbuilding and customization outside battle.
Over a thousand different gunship parts with different stats, divided among four playable species. Oculus Rift and Joystick support
Uninstalled papers please because I forgot what I was doing and will relearn the game after classes
Uninstalled Super Hexagon because I am a weak fleshy human being.......and I'm not an asian teenager.
Question in regards to Strike Vector: How populated are the servers? More importantly to me, how populated are the servers between midnight to 5am PST? Because that's when I will get to play (stupid JST time).
In other news I'm having a complete blast with Banner Saga. I'm in love with the combat once I managed to wrap my head around the fact you can't play it like most other turn based strategy games. I am tempted to get into the Faction side of things once I finish up the campaign.
According to IsThereAnyDeal, it was on sale for $15 on steam, has been $15 on Gamefly PC since august, and actually went on sale for $4.99.
Slightly off topic but is anyone else freaking amazed that I can pull up its history across multiple sites like that?
I remember getting it along with DA2 and another game for $15 from gamefly's build a bundle last month, think it was last month anyway.

Strike Vector is mainly official servers right now. I had a hard time finding a nearby server that had open slots a little earlier. I figure this game is going to be a niche multiplayer title. I believe it'll pick up a nice playerbase but it won't be anything like TF2 or whatever.

Servers are decently populated right now. They were empty at around 2 AM CST. So... I think you are probably boned.
The good news is that you are in Japan and can probably find a Virtua On cab or something somewhere.

Guess I will have to wait to be back stateside, hopefully people are still playing then, it looks fun as heck.
Not any Virtual On cabs up in the rural countryside, where I am. And I've sworn off arcades anyway. After I realized I had dropped $500 into one arcade game. I mean, to be fair, this game is basically Battlefield meets Armored Core with parts progression, online 10v10 play, a cooperative battle a giant boss mode mode and hnnnnnnnnngh nope not going to start playing it again.
And you guys think you have it bad on your wallets with Steam.

Is it that Gundam arcade game with the 360 degree cockpit? That thing looks like heaven.

No, not that one though I did play that for a bit. That game is less players, but also communicates online. But that game is also like, $3 for two plays, So I never got that into it. Super neat though. The game that really got me hooked is called Border Break. But yeah, had to thrown in the towels on arcades in Japan. They cost too much money, and also people are allowed to smoke indoors and people in arcades just can't seem to get enough. Going home reeking of smoke with a sore throat and dry eyes got old pretty quick.
Some of these companies could make a killing by turning these into free to play games for the PC and bringing them stateside. They could try to enforce region locks or something to keep it from hurting their arcade market in Japan, but, it's also not like the PC market in Japan is that big anyway.

Oh yeah I've seen that one too, I probably would spend all my money playing it also. It's a shame, all the mech stuff that never leaves Japan
On a related note, how is the customization stuff in Strike Vector?

Thanks for the color/size info.
Yeah I'm a bit terrible with immediate post editing. I've even tried to get better about previewing first but I always seem to find something wrong right after hitting post.

Is this a bad time to mention that there's a MOBA space sim on greenlight?
I'm not a MOBA fan, so for me it's fantastic to bring up. It means I can watch others squirm which, beyond RPGs, is my favorite game genre there is.

Or... you could start your own arcade.
Ought to be relatively easy in Japan. Small business loan -> buy some cabs and lease some space.
If you build it they will come, etc.

You can paint your Strike Vector various colors, choose a logo for the side, pick from any of the weapons for each of the two slots, pick a special power (like boost or a homing mine) and pick a passive upgrade (like 10% more health or speed or whatever).
Just started Broken Age, only early in the girl's story so far. It's amazing, looks beautiful, and really love the idea that this was crowdfunded. I can't wait to keep on playing.

You also gradually unlock modules that cosmetically change your vector. Different looking engines and cockpits and stuff.
Also pilot profile pictures, most of which are pretty cool looking.
But basically you start the game with everything which makes functional differences. Lotta different playstyles possible, but mech tuning is definitely not the focus of the game.
I played more and I got absolutely crushed the first two rounds I played, but every round after that I was either at the top or in the top two. Besides the best couple of players leaving, I started getting used to the controls and maps and was able to work more on actually shooting than just flailing wildly around. The game is exhilarating coming up with tactics on the fly, like ducking into a crowded passage through some girders to lose someone tailing me, or whipping around a corner and stopping and pulling a 180 to ambush someone following me (people chasing you is a thing in this game you'll get a lot), dropping mines to block a passage from enemies, all sorts of shit. And being able to so easily switch loadouts when something isn't working or you just want to try something new is great. I don't ever feel like I'm locked into just one role and it's quick to experiment with different combinations of weapons and abilities.
I guess the best thing I can say about the game is that it's fucking intense as hell. My palms were sweating so badly while playing that I had to stop and go wash my hands between rounds.
The thing that shows how fast paced and crazy Strike Vector gets:
If you crash it deducts a kill from your total. In Team Deathmatch commonly neither team has more than 2 kills ten minutes in as a result of this rule. :P
It's true. One round I had like 7 kills and felt like I was king shit of turd mountain. Turns out when the match ended I had -1 points. :rotate:
Oh, I've also blown myself up a few times by shooting someone point blank with the seeking swarm missiles (I was low on health), and once I dropped a seeker mine while sitting still looking for bad mans to shoot and I guess it really does lock onto the closest player to it. Meaning myself. Whoops.

You also get a High Five award for colliding with another Vector. I got three in one match. High speed chicken with machine guns and rawket lawnchairs.
Tier 1 - $1.99 ($2.99 in 7 days when the bonus game is revealed)
Gnomoria
Sideway New York
Archon Classic
Light of Altair
Bonus Game 1
Tier 2 - $4.99 ($5.99 in 7 days when the bonus game is revealed)
Blockland
Eldritch
Lilly Looking Through
Mutant Mudds Deluxe
Influx
Hero of the Kingdom
Bonus Game 2
That's a really nice bundle.
Not for Archon Classic though, sadly. I literally wore out the floppy for my Apple ][E copy of the original. Maybe the new one opens up after the first few levels. It just felt pokey, drab, unimteresting and unresponsive. So much for nostalgia recaptured.
So, I've been caught in the Great Southern Winter Storm Event of 2014 for two days (it wasn't a blizzard, and there's not a word for a few inches of snow hard-freezing an unprepared and unaccustomed populace, so we're working with the GSWSE14).
I left work to head home at 12:30 PM yesterday. I arrived home at 4:15 PM.
Today.
In the meantime, I slid off the road in my car, fought the ravages of hunger, thirst, and later (after defeating thirst) bladder, as well as my archenemies--boredom and traffic. I spent the night on the floor of a church I've never seen before, huddled with a dozen other survivors for warmth. We shared our stories of survival, haunted by what we'd seen...what we'd done.
On my lonely journey through the frozen wastes, I saw hundreds of abandoned vehicles--the scant shelter they provided clearly paled in comparison to the horror facing their owners atop the ice-crowned freeways. I saw acts of kindness mingled with acts of inexplicable and pure jackassery. In the end, however, I survived. I fought against nature, against my nature, against human nature, and I won. Or at least came up with a solid tie. It did still take me 30 hours to get home from work.
In celebration of my harrowing journey (which really was fraught with danger of the highway kind), I'd like to offer you all a chance to experience the closest thing:
Running through Friday, 6PM CST. Open to the PA G&T Adventure Team. Survive, like me, and make me proud.

My understanding is that it gives the codes away in the order their posted. Once the first code is taken, it moves to the next line and delivers that code, and so on. When I had some to give away I just posted in a spoiler the games in order as I had the codes listed. That way, say there were four codes left out of five, you'd know the next code offered would be #2 on the list and could reference it that way to make sure you didn't already have it.
I don't know for certain that this is how it worked, but once I started doing this I didn't get any more messages back that someone grabbed a code for a game they already had, so I'm assuming it worked to some extent at least.

Did it at least add some stuff to your game? Besides, if I wanted to make sure everything went according to some plan I wouldn't have used the codes widget with no instructions.
