I can't win it either.
But I love (A) having friends and (B) having a wishlist. And keeping low you shouldn't get gift-bombed, I've gotten quite a few, but nothing like the normal game slinging craziness that happens around here.
And now to request something:
as I mentioned, my knowledge if older games (Thief, for example) up to newer games (Mass Effect, for example) that I have zero knowledge of. Now, I'm not going to ask for you all to do my gaming homework. Instead, I'd like some lists of games/series that people think of as "can't miss" that extends from about the mid 90s until . . . well, now. No one has to make an exhaustive list; hell everyone could just ignore me (though I hope you don't). But I do hope at least a few of you will give some input, though.
I too was hit by @Berylline 's new gift avalanche with a shiny copy of Borderlands 2: Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2!
I think this video illustrates her last class rampage quite well, like a gift delivering bunny stampede:

First off, let it be known that @lolo is classy like crazy.
Now that I have Civ V, and I haven't played a Civ game since II, what am I in for? I'm not sure what changes have been made to the main game.
Also, for a platformer junkie like me, how does La-Mulana stack up? I'm very interested in giving that a try.
I played the V demo before getting it, I hadn't played since II either, and honestly the best way to learn it is to start a new game and try. Just . . . turn the difficulty down to way easy so you don't get trampled while you learn.

I have no idea why but I've got no issue grinding for seven hours in RPG's for something a long way off...but I consistently procrastinate doing things that'd take me a few minutes.
I mean I could finish Chapter 6 of Bravely Default but these Galbadian Soldiers in FF8 aren't going to powerlevel my Guardian Forces themselves.

Hmm, how to ask this without getting gifted....
So every time I see Iolo's avatar, I get an itch to play more Borderlands 2, since I haven't played it near enough. But then I remember that I don't have any DLC and lose interest. And there's a lot of it. Which ones are recommended? Obviously the level increasing ones. Are the others worth waiting for? Should I eventually try and get anything over $1?
So after downloading 24GBs to try the CoD Ghosts free weekend, they really need to work on their netcode if they expect me to buy that. Also, 6k people playing during a free weekend? Gunna be a big ole pass for me.
Granted I'm willing to put up with DICE's shit so...

That avatar is from Borderlands? I thought it was Miranda from M-Ass Effect.

Miranda is more... round. Also, she wears a white catsuit, which that isn't.
Anyway, all the DLC is worth it if you enjoyed the base game; I'd wait until there was a sale though, since while it's all entertaining, a sale is also not usually too far away.

The Season Pass gives you the first 4 DLC campaigns plus the first level cap increase. Torgue's and Tiny Tina's DLC get the most love in the BL2 thread I believe (Though in Torgue's case, it's mostly because he's A HILARIOUS MACHO BADASS WHO SPEAKS ALL IN CAPS AND LOVES BLOWING #*&% UP AND SHOWING OFF HIS (*&$#ING OVERBLOWN BADASS NATURE as the final boss for his DLC is a horrible fucking pain) but I felt all four campaigns were worth playing to some degree. If you want to try out the Mechnomancer and Psycho characters, you can get them as well. Haven't played much, or visited the Borderlands thread since they started doing the holiday themed DLC, so I can't say how worthwhile they are.
Also, the game balance starts getting kinda out of whack (and in a way that makes it progressively harder for you) at around the mid point of the second playthrough, so the second level cap increases isn't necessarily a "must buy" unless you want to play with people in level 72 Ultra Vault Hunter mode someday.

Yep, this exactly.
Also a first run-through of BL2 can run 40-50 hours. Given how often the DLC goes on sale, you can merrily play away and pick up any DLC en route to the point where you would want to play it. (The exceptions to that are the Mechromancer and Psycho if you want your PT1 to be with one of those characters.)
Well since you classy jerks giveth unto me, I attempt to return the favor by offering up a giveaway of two copies of a game that most of you probably already own, but if you don't is very much so worth some of your time.
I need to play through Borderlands 2 again some day. I did a full playthrough when it came out but by the end I was super burned out on it. There is almost too much content in that game. Though I also did do all of that content in a span of like 2 days, I sort of skipped class and a lot of sleep.
I own the Season Pass and haven't played any of the DLC yet really. I did try the Pirate one but I was overleveled and got bored. I'd like to play again with a different class and speed through the main game so the DLC is a bit tougher.
Actually, thinking about Borderlands 2 reminds me I haven't stayed up super late on a game's release and tried to beat it in a short time. I beat Mass Effect 3 in one sitting (took about 24 hours) and I beat Borderlands 2 in about 40 hours in a span of two-ish days but I think those are the last two games I did that with. I wonder if I'll do that again this year with some game. Maybe Destiny? Hmm.
@Berylline got me too, "Might & Magic: Heroes VI - Shades of Darkness" which I had been eyeing up in the store for a while.
Karma from Bery's giftpocalype is going to be hilarious when she is burried under a thousand games in return

If it's Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in flagrante delicto just send the pictures. If it's a dress by an obscure designer or a hard to find turntable, let me know why it's pornography to you.
The interesting bit is that the prize hasn't yet been decided. Depending on circumstances unrelated to the entires, the prize will either be the top game on your Steam wishlist (up to $60 USD) or some random game in my inventory.
The contest closes on Thursday at 3pm PST. The winner will be announced some time later. Entries are to be sent to me by PM. Multiple entries per person are allowed. Each PM is considered to be a separate entry. The prize has not been determined when the contest opens, but will have been decided before the contest closes. Winners are limited to people who seem to have posted in this thread. Please let me know if you feel comfortable sharing your entry. If there are any questions about the rules, feel free to PM me. The only thing that could offend me is your terrible taste in [thing you sent] and no entries will be reported to mods no matter what they contain.
If I might make a suggestion, if a PM contains multiple items they should have a theme instead of being a random collection of things. Some of you have done amazing work with this so far.
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.
